But traveling faster than light creates extremely high pressure and heat that I'm not even sure Kai'Sa's "living-skin" could handle.

You see, her K/DA persona actually has social media accounts. You can look up @seradotwav on twitter and instagram. She posts things and "photos" (they're actually just drawings) about her daily life, and we saw her journey throughout the past 4 months or so.And she's exactly that indie singer that covers musics and does everything in her room. Eventually, "she was discovered by one of the members of K/DA and she was invited to collaborate with them."

Then of course there's also all the teasing shots of Seraphine, with her basically singing along to the music while laying in bed. If I understand it correctly, Seraphine in the main universe lore has magical powers that she can only control via these crystal powered devices, so the crystal motif's supposed to be representative of her and the camera has this crystalline filter to it because we're seeing the world in her POV. The storyline seems to be that this is all her dreaming and we're introduced to the main girls as her own idealized reflections of them. Akali's all cool and street on her motorcycle, Evelynn's this dangerous Medusa-like seductress hanging out in these catacombs, Kai'sa's this graceful dancer weaving through the air in this zero gravity room, and Ahri's a queen in her golden throne room. Then towards the end Seraphine is lifted into the air as her room opens up and fades away, them she enters a reality where she gets to be one of them. So yeah definitely a storyline going on throughout this whole video.

Something I noticed when listening to the first chorus, is that when they sing ‘I got it and I’m never running low’, the moment they say got it and do that fist motion, the camera pivots to the fox woman (I don’t play lol sorry!) as if grabbed in that moment. I don't know if anyone explained the crystal with Kaisa, but that's most likely a reference to how her original design has an exoskeleton suit that adapts. Her suit is very similar to Venom from Spider-Man, so she taps the crystal and her exoskeleton adapts to be the crystal... If that makes sense.
@@ShatteredFocusProductions No problem! Kaisa has one of my favorite lores in the game. Essentially her suit (the purple one from Warriors) was a creature she encountered when she fell into the void. As a kid, she stabbed it and before the creature died, it's skin peeled off the creature and attached to her. Now since then she's been living a symbiotic relationship with it. The crystal launchers on her back are what remains of the creatures old wings.
I do believe Evelynn the Demon character has a lot to do with Medusa. As a Greek i can see a lot of references in her character, her yellow glowing eyes, her tenticles, her sexy appearance, and her always staying close to her statues. Medusa's power was closely related to her feeding on the fear and agony of people who fell into her trap, so I guess the set for Evelynn in this mv is quit fitting.
For future reference, the demon/succubus's name is evelynn and her "weapon" are lashers. Thank you for the video! It's really interesting since I don't see many reactors point out the different techniques and transitions.

Crystal touching part with Kai'sa (Jaira Burns). Her line at the time is "I got different D.N.A." would be a reference to Kai'sa the character being a once fairly normal human girl who got trapped in the void and survived (later thrived) by forming a symbiotic bond with a void creature that is essentially her "catsuit and jet pack". On her Blades skin her jet pack is crystal and when she touches the crystal it extends down her arm. So you can see the allusion to her core lore even here.

This is the first of your videos that I've watched, but this was super interesting! The actual filming process is super interesting and I'd be super interested in finding out how much it would actually cost (and how you would do it) if you were to do it in real life. Also, realtalk, "stingers" is close enough to how they function in the game
It’s amazing how you are able to catch so many small details in only one or two views. I watched the video like twenty times and only noticed a few of the things you noticed! Tbh tho I was mainly focused on Akali’s (Tiger Girls) Arm bump and expression on Seraphine in that last shot (Mostly just because I adore the two lol)
Id argue theres some smaller animation and environment details that just dont reach the same level as Pop/stars. A lot of it is really good and maybe even better.
as an inspiring storyboard i find your videos really interresting!! always super interesting to know how "you would do it in real life". Animation has some results you cant always achieve in real life, and it works the other way too, so it's fun to have someone explain how it could be done, and what to use to achieve certain moods. also the idea of a longer video talking about the budget and go into more detail about the camera works sounds really interresting!!!

In CG it would have been easy to just play video elements on some geometry in the back for the projection room. No... they went to the trouble of creating the rigging and trusses and made sure you see the individual pixels in some shots like you really would. They tried very hard to make everything in this feel like a real music video. Obviously some impossible things, but even at the end, you get the long shot of them dancing on top of the building and the zoom loses focus for a second and then corrects. There are so many little things they nailed. And like you said, simple transitions, but done extremely well. The quality of this and popstars is pretty incredible. If I were going to do the dance in changing sets, rather than rely on the dance to be perfectly timed in each... which would be possible but a crap ton of work, I'd film the empty sets with a programmed camera move. Then film the girls dancing on a green/blue stage with the same camera move programmed. It would take some post work to mask/roto things going in front behind them but would likely give a much cleaner dance than trying to physically do it 4 times. I love that coming up out of Seraphine's bedroom, they didn't just fade the room out, which would have been super easy in CG. Instead they employed a theatrical trick and pulled the walls out from the floor and slid them into darkness. You see things like this done in The Nutcracker on actual real stages with real physical sets. It's a nice little touch that makes the whole thing feel more real. A lot of camera moves react to the singers as well. The push in at the very end transitions to a pull out up when they throw their hands up. Evelynn singing "fall at my feet" and the camera drops through the floor and comes down from above the throne to fall at the throne. In the very beginning with Akali's rap she throws her hands up and sends the camera up through the ceiling and trusses of the projection room into the throne room.
So for Kai'sa and the crystal thing.... What that represents is what she does in game. She adapts to whatever she touches, in game it'll change how her abilities work. Visually she can litterally change into it.
I always love hearing how this would be made from a shooting viewpoint. That’s always fascinating about music videos and cinematography. Riot definitely raises the bar when it comes to MVs with their music groups. Enjoyed the video as usual. 😁

a lot of kpop music videos actual use the mechanical arm thing and the transitions (see stray kids - god's menu) so yeah, if this were made irl they'd probably use it!!! g-idle (the two kpop idols in kda) actually did a royal-themed music video (lion), so maybe you could compare the sets from there!
For that matched choreographed shot you mentioned that would take weeks, could you in theory use technology similar to what was used in The Mandalorian to recreate that a lot easier now?
I dunno if you know this, but period and comma can be used to skip frames forward and backward on youtube so you can get a more direct frame that you're looking for.
Every champion in League of Legends has something unique to help identify them. Like Ahri is a fox, with nine tails, Evelynn has what we call "Lashers" which are her two snake-looking features on her sides.
I like all the references in Serapine's room. Besides the THE BADDEST poster, there is also a Star Guardian poster and on her shelf are little figures that you can actually buy. Among them I can see K/DA Evelynn, Ahri and Kai'Sa, then there is also True Damage Senna and Odyssey Kayn. But then there are 2 more figures that I don't recognize.
That last one the cute girl is seraphine she is the literal meaning of looks can be deceiving she killed many people (not literally but it is) For just a pair of Headphones

Sera seemed endeared with the crystal, and the crystal even showed her how to connect Zaun and Piltover which was a major problem at the time. Also help it?? About that Sinbad movie character he keeps referencing to, her name is Eris and she is the Greek goddess of strife and discord. I can see how she could be an inspiration for Evelynn.

I do believe Evelynn the Demon character has a lot to do with Medusa. As a Greek i can see a lot of references in her character, her yellow glowing eyes, her tenticles, her sexy appearance, and her always staying close to her statues.
Medusa's power was closely related to her feeding on the fear and agony of people who fell into her trap, so I guess the set for Evelynn in this mv is quit fitting.
These videos help so much as a person who wants to be a director. Keep it up!
For future reference, the demon/succubus's name is evelynn and her "weapon" are lashers. Thank you for the video! It's really interesting since I don't see many reactors point out the different techniques and transitions.

Crystal touching part with Kai'sa (Jaira Burns). Her line at the time is "I got different D.N.A." would be a reference to Kai'sa the character being a once fairly normal human girl who got trapped in the void and survived (later thrived) by forming a symbiotic bond with a void creature that is essentially her "catsuit and jet pack". On her Blades skin her jet pack is crystal and when she touches the crystal it extends down her arm. So you can see the allusion to her core lore even here.

as an inspiring storyboard i find your videos really interresting!! always super interesting to know how "you would do it in real life". Animation has some results you cant always achieve in real life, and it works the other way too, so it's fun to have someone explain how it could be done, and what to use to achieve certain moods. also the idea of a longer video talking about the budget and go into more detail about the camera works sounds really interresting!!!

Dude u don't know how much I waited for your reaction video for videography and animation perspective. Lots of love ❤️ to you.
30 seconds in the video and i've never seen him this hyped! Makes me hyped myself for his reaction :D
In CG it would have been easy to just play video elements on some geometry in the back for the projection room. No... they went to the trouble of creating the rigging and trusses and made sure you see the individual pixels in some shots like you really would. They tried very hard to make everything in this feel like a real music video. Obviously some impossible things, but even at the end, you get the long shot of them dancing on top of the building and the zoom loses focus for a second and then corrects. There are so many little things they nailed. And like you said, simple transitions, but done extremely well. The quality of this and popstars is pretty incredible.
If I were going to do the dance in changing sets, rather than rely on the dance to be perfectly timed in each... which would be possible but a crap ton of work, I'd film the empty sets with a programmed camera move. Then film the girls dancing on a green/blue stage with the same camera move programmed. It would take some post work to mask/roto things going in front behind them but would likely give a much cleaner dance than trying to physically do it 4 times.
I love that coming up out of Seraphine's bedroom, they didn't just fade the room out, which would have been super easy in CG. Instead they employed a theatrical trick and pulled the walls out from the floor and slid them into darkness. You see things like this done in The Nutcracker on actual real stages with real physical sets. It's a nice little touch that makes the whole thing feel more real.
A lot of camera moves react to the singers as well. The push in at the very end transitions to a pull out up when they throw their hands up. Evelynn singing "fall at my feet" and the camera drops through the floor and comes down from above the throne to fall at the throne. In the very beginning with Akali's rap she throws her hands up and sends the camera up through the ceiling and trusses of the projection room into the throne room.
So for Kai'sa and the crystal thing.... What that represents is what she does in game. She adapts to whatever she touches, in game it'll change how her abilities work. Visually she can litterally change into it.

a lot of kpop music videos actual use the mechanical arm thing and the transitions (see stray kids - god's menu) so yeah, if this were made irl they'd probably use it!!! g-idle (the two kpop idols in kda) actually did a royal-themed music video (lion), so maybe you could compare the sets from there!

I dunno if you know this, but period and comma can be used to skip frames forward and backward on youtube so you can get a more direct frame that you're looking for.
Every champion in League of Legends has something unique to help identify them. Like Ahri is a fox, with nine tails, Evelynn has what we call "Lashers" which are her two snake-looking features on her sides.
I like all the references in Serapine's room.
Besides the THE BADDEST poster, there is also a Star Guardian poster and on her shelf are little figures that you can actually buy.
Among them I can see K/DA Evelynn, Ahri and Kai'Sa, then there is also True Damage Senna and Odyssey Kayn. But then there are 2 more figures that I don't recognize.

It continued to sing to her “KINDLY” and when she used the crystal is gave her information to help her; also canonically she can communicate with the crystal. If the crystal didn’t want to be used... don’t you think it would’ve said so? it’s really silly to think that people see her as some evil girl torturing the souls of bracken... when the story portrays exactly the opposite. Sera seemed endeared with the crystal, and the crystal even showed her how to connect Zaun and Piltover which was a major problem at the time. Also help it?? It’s land got torn apart and ravaged- and if skarner wanted that crystal back then it’s no problem for him to go to seraphine.

About the claws scene, it actually reminded me of another movie: Osmosis Jones. The bad guy (red virus dude) has really similar claws and everytime he touches something leaves a "sign" (actually infects everything lol)
