Great talk lads, nice to see Marnix and BiteMeGames team getting recognition they deserve in indie dev space. I really hope too see both Thomas with big games in future ! keep going lads :)
Been a fan of biteme for a while and they introduced me to your channel which i also like 🙌 The amount of charisma with these 2 guys in 1 video goes through the roof 💪
I’m finding this really interesting to compare against my game Ten Bells. We have had several big western streamers play Ten Bells and coverage by Yahtzee and we haven’t noticed much of a correlation between streams and sales. By far the sales came at launch when Steam decided to show the game. After the streams came sales have been declining and we have sold around 2k a month and a half after launch. We are crossing our fingers for sales season to see sales pick up. Good luck with your games.
Know how it feels to cycle through games and not finish them. Started game dev with my brother in 2017 we bounced around from game to game up until 2022 and finally released our first game September 2024. We went with a mobile thinking it would be easier but that was not the case at all. But we did finally get a game out there.
It would've been nice if the title didn't make it seem like Marnix did it alone just to sound more impressive for the clicks at the expense of acknowledging the effort of the BiteMe team as a whole, just sayin :P
If you listen to the whole podcast we address this take. The vast majority of their player base is in Japan & Korea - which does not match the demographics for their UA-cam channel. It was streamer outreach that primarily led to the game's success
Their UA-cam channel is catered towards game devs not gamers. Every dev with a UA-cam channel/devlog will tell you that this demographic doesn't buy your games

Really cool to see you talking together! All Thomases will find success someday, I believe in all of you ;-)
Thomas Brush about to pull up
Love that you're doing these Thomas. I like your no nonsense approach to your other videos so this is good stuff!

Love this, guys! Thanks for sharing.
This was a great interview and had a lot of useful gems in there!
Fun seeing two of my favorite game devs together. Gotta say, I did miss Marnix’s signature “bye!” Hope you guys keep making it work!
Bye! -M
That was so good -- hopefully can return for future chats 👍
Time to make Pogo Stick Burger Time.
Amazing conversation!! Well done!!

Thomas Stewart has the best indie dev podcast
Can you do some more videos of bridges and docks?
I saw "Thomas" with Marnix' pic and was like, "Oh, y'all finally did that collab". Nicer Thomas though :)
W collab

Cool Talk!
Love Stewart and Marnix!
Reporting from Mexico !
Wait what? He moved to Japan?!

I would care about your boring video about console porting and what difficulties you ran into!
The game brought 11.000$ because they have a 2 year old youtube channel that is awesome for advertisement. So it's not that easy to do.
