I’ve said it before, but I’m happy to say it again… Robbie does a great job of capturing the spirit of climbing. The OGs from the Valley of Yosemite, the French sport climbers, the German training revolutionaries, and other legends of the game would have loved to see content like this. The climbing channel community is a bit oversaturated with gym boulderers, and other forms of climbing don’t get great representation.
As a self proclaimed “gym boulderer” myself I do much prefer this kind of content. Robbie’s banter isn’t too bad (😜)and his philosophy on climbing is spot on…. Always look forward to his uploads.👏🏻🏴💪🏻
Such amazing story telling. This is the best kind of climbing as well. Thanks you for including all the dialogue and moments of hesitation, they are really what make the story. Such impressive climbing as well. 5/5 well done as always Robbie!
Thanks! You’re right too, I’ve found that the storytelling and atmosphere is given a lot more depth when I include those little moments in between the action… like the chat at belays, before the climb, the correspondence between climber and belayer, and even the words spoken to yourself as you climb. They are very important details :)
@@RobbiePhillips There is so much surrounding the actual climb that you are capturing, which is mostly what makes getting out into the wild so fun! Pure adventure and discovery!!
Big up the camerapersons for some of those shots - so gripped watching them. Absolutely stunning setting too. Guts'n'nuts in abundance to do this sort of thing. Huge hats off to you guys!
Really great film, left me feeling a little like I had just been on a stressful lead myself , which I don’t think I’ve ever gotten by watching a climbing video . Whole thing felt like we were right there with you. Makes me want to get on some uk Trad routes one day
Thank you so much for showing what climbing is all about. In every single video of yours, there's always this element of "I love being out here, moving on gorgeous rock and having a great time with friends". It's incredibly relatable and inspiring for climbers of all levels, as I (a real punter in comparison ;) ) can go out and have this kind of experience, too. Thanks for getting me stoked and making me want to go out and climb even more, time after time! Cheers ⭐️
Thanks for the lovely comment! I have always felt that for the most part, our experiences as climbers are mostly the same regardless of the grade attached to climbs. We all aim to go to cool places with our friends and try our best - and that’s just what I try to capture and share with these films.
man every time you drop one of these Robbie i have to go watch it on the big TV at my moms house. Computer or phone doesn't do the climbing, the scenery, or the quality of filming
Robbie old boy. once again you've excelled yourself. Another absolute banger of a film. so good. the climbing looked alright as well. I love that you show yourself getting shut down on the new route first attempt. The variation had you looking about as gripped as i remember seeing you. great work mate. cant wait for more.
Great video ! It really puts in perspective for me the achievements of such climbers as pat littlejohn doing so many ground up onsight of E4 and harder even more mind boggling !!
Always looking forward to your videos. I hope to see them more often. I hope Raynaud's is not bothering your too much any more. Beautiful location and great climbing!
It’s baffled me how underdeveloped this area is! I’ve done some new routing there too - one of which at Coir’ Uisg called Splendourfoot is worthwhile for those operating at the lower grades! Really enjoyed the vid, thanks!
It is amazing actually, because despite it feeling remote, it’s quite accessible via boat and with the JMCS hut it’s so easy to stay and explore and come back to a nice comfy bed every night :) Can’t wait to go back!
Wow, I was anchored there at the beginning of June on a round Britain trip looking at that wall behind the hut thinking there must be routes up there, and now there are. It looked amazing.
Would love to see a video breaking down the trad rack you would take on this kind of new routing trip! Looks you had some pretty specialist pieces with you (offset cams and sliders!)!
Cheeky wee insider filmmaker knowledge… Will was actually listening to WU-Tang Clan, and that’s what was heard on the mic… but obviously I don’t have copyright to WU-tang 😅 so I had to edit out the WU-tang and find something which sounded similar and put an edit on the audio track to make it sound like it came from his earphones. I almost didn’t put they wee bit in but I quite liked it 😅
It’s actually amazing how many tiny details there are in the filmmaking process. Would be fun to show people, but not sure how interesting for many it actually is
Awesome. Really looking forward to this Robbie. I've never seen anyone other than Danny Macaskill make the Dubh slabs look so hardcore before. What on earth did you need all those runners for? ;-)
amazing routes and amazing place. one question though (which relates to most people doing hard routes these days) why not just pre place the gear? placing it 'on lead' and then down climbing making sure you don't weight the rope etc for a rest seems far more 'ethically' dubious than just pre placing and actually climbing it in a oner. Just my opinion of course.
Good question! I do agree it is a very weird ethic… it stems from the “no weighting the rope” approach and is a bit of a grey line I’d say. I heard a story of famous trad climber placing all the gear up to the final 3m during an Onsight, downclimbing to the ground, having their lunch, then sending the route 90% on top rope before finishing the final few metres in lead to claim a successful Onsight. Is this the same as leading from the ground in one go? Nope… but it still counts under the “rules of the game” we play and abide by in climbing. Does pre placing gear make more sense? I think not… that’s just sport climbing :)
This is how i spent the '80s: wandering up unclimbed faces, no bolt kit, no info, up to 5.12 and 22 pitches in the Pacific NW. '90s got a drill and the game changed....

Robbie I need more epic Adventures, there are none in my life and I need to live vicariously through you.
You can do it man! Go out an have some adventures :D

Just a lovely film
Another incredible film, can't wait for more of this stuff from Skye!!!
More coming!
That second ‘C’mon’ was very Yorkshire 😂.
Those new routes look outstanding. Top work again Robbie
My dad was a Yorkshireman so maybe some of it rubbed off 🫖
I've really enjoyed discussions with protection :) 31:08 What a shot!

Ryan Balharry nailed the filming :)
Absolutely magnificent films you make Robbie.
Cheers man 🍻
As always, a great film. Thanks.
Brilliant video/Brilliant climbing/Thanks 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Amazing! I’m trying to make the films more immersive :) so really glad you felt that.
A very, very special film. Thank you so much. as below, the narrative and honesty is one of a kind.
Could feel the texture of the rock in this film. So good!
Stunning camera work. I was planning a trip to Skye in my head while watching this. Great climbs too
Phenomenal Robbie! Best film I've seen in a good while
Nice upload (as per) big man. ……inspiring stuff 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔥🏴💪🏻🧗🏻♂️
Big up Robbie. Awesome work and a great watch!

Jeeeeze that shot at the end
I know right!? Ryan nailed that one :)
another great video, thanks Robbie.
Stunning! P.s I paused at 32 seconds and bottom left of the screen there is a magic looking boulder!!
Yeah! That spot in particular had endless scope for bouldering!
Great video Robbie, enjoyed the rope and gear work.
Amazing to see how your filmmaking has progressed over the years I've been following this channel. Keep it coming Robbie :)

Thanks a lot man! Means a lot to hear that :)
Thanks for your authentic content and for taking me back to Skye!
Subscribed in no time. Amazing contents

Thanks for the kind words! I’m really happy with this one, and the trip was one of the most fun I’ve had
Very enjoyable watch, and an incredible location. That long rising traverse looks like a proper scrap!
Great video ! It really puts in perspective for me the achievements of such climbers as pat littlejohn doing so many ground up onsight of E4 and harder even more mind boggling !!
Amazing video Robbie, loved every second of it!
Another great video, inspiring as always💪 great to see the lakes boys crushing it as well
Always looking forward to your videos. I hope to see them more often. I hope Raynaud's is not bothering your too much any more. Beautiful location and great climbing!
It flares up occasionally but actually much better than it was thanks :)
Epic as always! Thanks for sharing Robbie! 😊
That last route looked amazing. You just floated up it.
Man that was good. Stunning effort all round 👏
Brilliant efforts all round 👌🙂
Simply amazing to watch. Keep it up brother!
your video are always so amazing and inspiring!
Class video.
I was actually scared for you a couple times Robbie!
Class dude. Epic video
Nice, i was there last year sailing, looked like there are a few good lines on that crag above the hut.

It’s a beautiful piece of rock aye!
Another bloody awesome film Robbie. As usual. That rock looks so damn good! Will we be seeing more of this place?
Thanks man! You will indeed… I have some big exciting projects over there so I’ll be capturing the process of trying to climb them
super effort folks
Seeing that crack, I think we need to send the WideBoyz there!
It's an offwidth, it's wet, I feel like Pete would be drooling hearing those words.
Love this movie!
Would love to see a video breaking down the trad rack you would take on this kind of new routing trip! Looks you had some pretty specialist pieces with you (offset cams and sliders!)!
Good idea! I would definitely be happy doing a video going through my whole rack with some example racks for different types of trips
Do it! PLEEEEEEASE!
so nice to see some ground up FA adventure. well done!!!
would you reccomend the scarpa instinct vsr for beginner? only indoor bouldering
So cool to see you get that last climb finally! Is that what you normally do to entertain yourself while having a rest? 🤣
The music? Haha actually I couldn’t hear it. It was Will listening to it below
@@RobbiePhillips you'll just have to hang a Bluetooth speaker off your harness next time I guess 😉

ballnut fell out then?
Pre chalked hand holds?
Probably just up and down climbing
Yeah there was a lot of that!
