  • Bottle feeding matters too! In this video you will learn how to bottle feed a baby in a way that slows milk flow down for less gas, an easier time returning to nursing and developing oral motor skills. In this position you control milk flow with your baby laying on their side.

Couple questions. You said a good paced bottle is about 10 or 15 minutes... does that include burping? And how many ounces of a bottle is that? My 3-month-old with Down Syndrome is still having issues with pacing herself. So we've done Sidelines but I feel like cuz now she's up to like 4 ounces the bottle is like always full so it's hard to Pace sometimes.

for most babies, burping isn't needed with paced bottle feeding. That being said, for babies with Down syndrome or low tone in general, they will likely swallow more air and need to burp. I think side lying is awesome for babies with lower tone and you can pull back a little on the bottle to help her build up her strength. A speech therapist who works with babies might be able to help. But also: if she is comfortable and happy and eats a little on the fast side- that's okay with me, all babies are different.
