man i would kill to see some video, or a something to show how liam performs his songs on stage. it seems impossible to find a video of his process anywhere. does he trigger samples does he play synths does he trigger loops and mix them. how does it all work?

Agree he kept it very secretive but I think it's mostly now played from his daw (laptop) with some samples triggered on keys and a few notes hit to make it look like he is doing something on stage

Nowdays (post like 2015) he uses Ableton Live on his laptops to launch some clips with 2 Akai APC 40 Mk.2 controllers. He also has MIDI info running from Ableton running into his synths, mainly the Access Virus TI which is very flexible and can run up to 16 patches at once I think and was used on all their albums post AONO. I also saw a Microkorg on a few shows, but I'm not sure what it does, probably like a backup synth. He also has a Roland SH-101 which he plays live (the high pitched portamento synth you can sometimes hear live) all hooked up to a mixer along with some guitar pedals. That's all I could catch, although Liam is changing his live setup from tour to tour synth wise, but the SH-101 (or a monosynth of any kind), Virus TI and two laptops running Ableton are the main stay since at least 2009 (he uses laptops since maybe like 2004)

@@pigknickers2975 really? so does he just write a like looped section for each instrument, and map that to a key. and continue this process for every instrument, or samples sound. and then play the whole song then orchestrated the whole song by playing each section?

0:45 drummers in lots of bands have to put up with other band members, usually the "leader" of the band or the main writer of the song in question, giving them instructions on how to play. Even Ringo Starr of the Beatles complained of this.
