People think, "Prodigy? Oh yeah, Keith Flint." Just amazes me how Liam alone is the Prodigy. (With backing dancers and a front man to bulk it out.) Full respect to Howlett.

I wish the the prodigy would actually play properly live. I think it would be far more entertaining, sure they'll be mistakes but I think they'll be forgiven quickly. The biggest thing I can't get my head around is what they have Leo Crabtree. From what I can see is that he is just used for cymbals :/ You watch him play live and he just has such a random mix of things he plays on top of a track. Especially in Run with the wolves, literally just banging away on top of the track....Liam says he can get a better sound from himself rather than using Leo so why not just stick Leo on a Roland TD30 type affair and use him for the midi triggers and actually let him play live. From a band that claims to want to play live and not fall into this USB EDM DJ rubbish it's slightly hypocritical of them. Rob does enough live. From what I can see Liam just chirps in randomly in tracks to kick something in live on top of the track. I'm not a pro but that's what it looks like to me. Just my opinion, regardless great stuff live.
+Phil Totally agree man. That's what it looks like because that's what's happening. I'm a huge fan myself, but over the years I've realized how little each person is doing & I too wish they would really put together a true live show. It would kill, but when it comes down to it Liam is kinda lazy & hypocritical, going for all the money for less work. Now we'll both likely be torn to shreds by all the other fans that are either naive or can't objectively admit what's goin on here. The shows still kill, but it comes very close to pushing play with some theatrics on top right now.
+IndesinentFenix Yup. If you compare something like Out of Space back in 2005 with the pre Leo drummer, you can see him actually hitting the intro live. You look at Leo doing it and he is literally just tapping the hi hat and the snare is coming from Liam. I'm more amazed that the drummer even entertains this, unless he cba to play aswell. The guitarist just improvises which is fair enough as it's not like the studio tracks have lots of guitar in them but he gets his stuff together when there is. Whilst I admit I would probably end up doing the same if I was Liam as he probably just hasn't got the energy to keep playing live like has been doing, I just think it's a little sad to drop it completely. They figured out that upping the quality of the lighting and effects would distract people from what is actually being played but Liam we can spot it!! Just imagine how amazing it would be if the Prodigy could pull off a genuine live show with the theatrics!
Phil The reality is that the Prodigy sound was Liam very cleverly putting loads of well sourced samples and synths together. Apart from the vocalists/mcs and dancers there was nothing much live going on. They have been getting away with this for 20+ years. They know the crowds they play for don't really care, they just want a bit of a show.
