So I found out that the reason it didn't open as much as the other drawers that I fixed is because at 07:30 and 08:00 I put the one metall piece the wrong way 😛 When you put the piece that will be screwed back in the walls in the other piece, the side that has the 3 holes needs to go in first (the opposite of what I did). I hope this made sense 😝
Honestly, the easiest way to extend the drawers is to just remove the two screws inside the drawers attaching them to the tracks. You have to be careful pulling the drawers out and I wouldn't advise putting anything heavy in them but it won't lock the drawers in to only go out so far.
It’s the only two screws inside each drawer that holds them attached to the rails on the side. If you remove those, the rails will be more stable but then you would have to be careful how much you open it or manually moving the rails.
@@AdaAligiai Oh thank you so much! This is brilliant! I just tried it and removed the inside screws and it worked as magic! But you're right we need to pay attention when extending the opening however it's not that bad I must say :) I would unscrew only the top 4 drawers where I store light makeup and some accessories and it will surely make a huge difference when I'm getting ready not taking out makeup organizers out of the drawer each time
I had already thought of the idea using foam board but I'm really excited to extend the drawer opening! I love customizing my own stuff. I find it very satisfying and also have to try and remain patient! Thank you so much!
@@tanauck it took me a while to figure it out in the beginning too, and sometimes I would get confused through the process but the end result is so worth it!!💖💖
You could mark arrows and numbers on the pieces of the tracks with a Sharpie. You could also use white electrical tape on the exposed edges of the boards to give them a clean finish.

nice trick. a bit of an improvement i made was rather than just using one side of the bearings, use both by cutting the middle section out and keep the two ends, added bonus you can use 3.6mm zip ties to keep the parts together. itll be stronger too
Yeah, that would be nice! A lot of people were recommending that just remove the screws and drag it as much as you want, but I can see how that can also have its own problems
They don’t come with legs but I’m sure you can diy some legs on them! And I also think that they would look nice with handles, I think it would elevate the whole look! 😉☺️
The short ones are 5,5 cm and the tall ones are 11,5 cm. Yes! I've now had the drawer for more than 4 years and they still work perfectly fine! (And they survived 2 moves!)
Thank you for the video. I don’t know if I’m brave enough or energetic enough to try this. 😂 No judging from me about your amount of polishes. I have about 3050 😂 indie polishes (independent polish brands like Polished For Days, KbShimmer, Kathleen & Co. Wildflower Lacquer.) I store them in 6 five drawer Alex’s and one 9 drawer. The 9 drawer Alex is the only one that had to put those screws in. The others don’t have the screws in that holds the drawer to the side railings. (last step in the directions.)
Haha thank you for not judging, right back at you 😅 To be honest I don’t think I would have the energy myself to do that again😅 I was young and full of energy 😂 Not putting the screws in it’s a faster solution! I’m happy you enjoyed the video anyway ☺️❤️
It is a litte wobbly I have to say but it's not a deal breaker for me, I would take wobbly over not being able to reach the back of my drawers any day! I'm also kind of used it now and nothing has broken, even with heaving things, and I've had the unit for over 2 years now!

massively underrated video!!! the nail polish drawer insert is a game changer
also your makeup is impeccable!!
Thank you soooo much for your lovely words!! I appreciate it!!💖💖💖
Agreed on all points ! Watching 3yrs later and it’s exactly what I need. Thank you!!!
Thank you ☺️🩷🩷 I’m so glad this video is still useful!

Do you mind sharing a video exactly how to do this? Much appreciated
Thank you, Ada I been searching on how to do mine. I built custom coffee tables. The one I'm working on is $6,590.00. This does help finish my order.
Oh wow! Im glad this could help you 😊
I love this. I did a drawer and put white duct tape to make the tops look more finished and when it gets dirty I can wipe it down. Thanks.
That's a great idea! I'm happy that you loved the video❤️

Oh nice! Thanx for the tip!!😊
I did it, quite fast actually.
Tho it's a pity the drawer stays a bit clumsy.
In that regard a proper full-extension slider would do the job neatly.
Yeah, that would be nice! A lot of people were recommending that just remove the screws and drag it as much as you want, but I can see how that can also have its own problems
The alex drawers can you put legs on them, could I also pit handles on them even with the dip or would it look weird
They don’t come with legs but I’m sure you can diy some legs on them! And I also think that they would look nice with handles, I think it would elevate the whole look! 😉☺️
Does this change make it so that the drawers fall back further as well? They don’t naturally line up to the frame of the furniture piece.
No they don’t fall because they’re still screwed on, but they don’t stay as straight as before you do this when they’re open.
Wow! This is something I want done but I am not wanting to do all this work. Lol
I totally get that, it is quite a bit of work! I didn't do all the drawers at the same time!
Can you tell the inside height of those drawers? Also how has that hack lasted? Are the drawers still working well?
The short ones are 5,5 cm and the tall ones are 11,5 cm. Yes! I've now had the drawer for more than 4 years and they still work perfectly fine! (And they survived 2 moves!)

Is your drawers wobbly after?

which part of eastern europe are you from?
I’m originally from Albania, but I grew up in Greece 😊
It is easier and more stable to just not put the screws in that hold the drawer to the slide.
Thank you,!
