At 5 minutes in you show how to put the feet on the unit. I noticed the official Ikea instructions show putting a small square sheet in between the foot with sticky adhesive and the base of the unit. Do you know what that small cutout is? I imagened it was some sort of adhesive tape to help the round feet adhere better than they would to the actual base.
Thank you so much for watching and reaching out with your question! I appreciate your attention to detail. I found my original manual, and I’m honestly not sure about that small cutout either. My feet already came with adhesive on them, so I just peeled away the wax paper to reveal the sticky part. My best guess is that it might be a template to help place the feet evenly in the four corners. To be on the safe side, I would recommend contacting IKEA Customer Service. Thanks for pointing this out and happy assembling!
I completety forgot to put in the wooden pegs for the smaller drawers and I now have a bunch of leftover wooden pegs! I tried to diassemble them but I couldn't do it. Will this impact the drawer?
Thank you for watching and reaching out with your question. 😊 It's easy to miss those little pegs when assembling furniture! The wooden pegs help with the stability and alignment of the drawers, so they do play a role in keeping everything secure. If you can't disassemble the drawers to add the pegs, you might still be okay if everything feels sturdy. But, for long-term durability, it’s best to have them in place. If you're struggling to take it apart, you might want to consult IKEA customer service for the best approach. Good luck, and great job on getting this far! 💪🔧

Mine aren’t aligning 😢 is it possible ikea but the brackets on wrong. Do I assume the three bigger ones are all the same size?. Started from the bottom as recommended
Thank you for watching the video and for reaching out with your question! It sounds like you might be experiencing some alignment issues with your drawers. The three bottom larger drawers in the IKEA Alex unit are indeed the same size. To help troubleshoot, could you provide more specific details on how they're misaligning? Sometimes, getting the hardware into the slots can be tricky due to the paint finish. Also, ensure that the brackets are correctly placed; if they were put on wrong, it could cause alignment problems. I once built the frame upside down myself, so I understand the challenges! Feel free to share more details, and I'll do my best to assist you further.
I’m putting mine together right now I had to go to ikea today and get 2 new pieces because I broke mine while trying to take it apart. I put the top of the drawer on the bottom and the bottom on the top which is why the drawers weren’t fitting. It wasn’t until I flipped it and the drawers went in fine that I realized I had the bottom on the top and vice versa.
this video was so much help. i put together one of these and made some mistakes along the way. still ended with functional drawers. The instruction were clear and not clear. i wish i would've found this vid first. i also agree with @itsChrisStyle.

Hey there! It's unfortunate that you're having a bit of trouble with your IKEA Alex drawer unit, don't worry-I'm here to help! Here are a few friendly tips to get those drawers gliding smoothly: 1. **Check the Alignment**: Sometimes, the drawer tracks might be a tad misaligned. Ensuring everything is lined up correctly can make a world of difference. Remember, a little adjustment can go a long way! 2. **Lubricate the Tracks**: If the drawers are sticking, a bit of lubrication on the tracks might be just what you need. A little maintenance can keep things running smoothly and make your life easier. 3. **Tighten the Screws**: Loose screws can cause the drawers to wobble and get stuck. Make sure all the screws are snug and secure, but not too tight-balance is key! 4. **Clear Obstructions**: Sometimes, small items can get caught in the tracks. Double-check to ensure nothing is blocking the path. Keeping things clear will help the drawers slide effortlessly. If these tips aren't doing the trick, I suggest reaching out to IKEA's Customer Service. They’re always ready to help. And if you need any more tips or run into any other challenges, I'm always here to lend a hand. Happy DIY-ing! 😊
Thank you so much for watching and reaching out with your question! I totally get what you’re saying-sometimes those IKEA drawers can feel a little off at first. A common reason for the slow or noisy drawer movement could be that the tracks need a bit of adjusting or some lubricant to help them slide more smoothly. You might want to double-check that the runners are perfectly aligned and make sure there’s no obstruction. I agree, the IKEA images can definitely be a challenge, but I’m so glad my video helped make the build a bit easier! 😊
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your experience! I totally get it-those IKEA instruction sheets can feel overwhelming at first glance. But trust me, once you break it down step-by-step, it’s more manageable than it looks. If you ever decide to give it another go, I’m here to help with any questions you might have! 😊💪
