Verizon: Postpaid VS Prepaid

- Verizon has the most coverage in the country and consequently has the most expensive cell phone plans in the country as well. But there are some budget-friendly options, so which Verizon cell phone plan is best for you?? That’s what i’ll help you figure out today! www.whistleout.com/cellphones
www.whistleout.com/CellPhones...
PRICING:
Without looking at multi-line or loyalty discounts, Verizon’s prepaid plans are much cheaper than their postpaid counterparts. The cheapest prepaid plan is $30 compared to the cheapest postpaid plan which is $70.
The most expensive prepaid plan is $60 compared to $90. Very easy to see prepaid is cheaper. BUT if you look at multi-line discounts or family plan discounts, Verizon postpaid might be the winner for you because Verizon Prepaid doesn’t have multi-line discounts. For instance… Verizon’s $70/month postpaid plan turns to $35/Month per line when you have 4 lines and $30 when you have 5 or more. The $80 Play more goes down to $45 per line, along with Do More and Verizon’s Get More originally $90 goes down to $55 per line with four lines.
Now the last thing to look at for price is the loyalty discount that comes with Verizon Prepaid. At month 4 and month 10, you save an extra $5/month on your total plan cost AND if you enroll in autopay you get an additional $5 in savings. So after 9 months of service your $65 Unlimited Prepaid plan goes down to $50/month. You can see on Verizon’s website that these loyalty discounts make a big difference.

PERKS
Perks are any extras or add-ons that you don’t have to pay for
If we take a look at prepaid perks you’ll see that there’s not much to write home about. You don’t get much… but depending on the plan you do get mobile hotspot access, free calling to canada and mexico along with free texting to over 200 countries. Not one plan offers all of these perks… Verizon is a little sneaky here offering some perks and charging for others… for instance the hotspot access is free with the $50/month prepaid plan but you don’t get a separate data allotment and with the $65/month prepaid plan you need to pay $5 but you get 10GB of mobile hotspot data with it.
If we take a quick look at the postpaid plan perks you’ll see they blow prepaid out of the water… For instance you get Disney+ free for one year with all unlimited plans, you get Apple Music free, you get 500GB of Verizon Cloud Storage, Hotspot access with dedicated allotments, and free 5G access with a compatible phone.
So postpaid plans wins here.
PLANS
Starting with data allotments… almost all the plans have some sort of high-speed data allotment. The only plan that doesn’t is the $35/month prepaid plan which is just texting and calling.
With the rest of the prepaid plans you get 5GB, 15GB, or unlimited. With the 5 and 15GB plans you have SOFT data caps meaning once you use up your allotted data your speeds slow to 2G speeds. With the Unlimited prepaid plan you get unlimited high-speed data though your speeds may slow only when the network is congested.
With all of the postpaid plans i’m comparing today, you get unlimited data. Though some plans offer MORE guaranteed high-speed data than others. Basically Start has the least because it’s the cheapest and Get More has the most because it’s the most expensive.
PHONES
When it comes to phones some carriers only have select phones available for postpaid and prepaid services… and some carriers don’t allow you to buy a phone on an installment plan... With Verizon you can’t buy a phone on an installment plan with prepaid… but you have all the same phone options as the postpaid customers. Because of that i’m giving a full star to postpaid and a half star to prepaid.
CLOSING
The final star count is 2 to prepaid and 3 to postpaid out of a total of 4. Now just because postpaid has more stars doesn’t mean a postpaid plan is better for you than a prepaid! You should go with prepaid IF you’re looking for only 1 or 2 lines because you get a KILLER loyalty discount PLUS an autopay discount saving you $15/month after 9 months of service. You won’t get that with the postpaid plans. I’d also go for prepaid over postpaid if you’re not worried about the extra perks because honestly, those perks raise the cost of the plan.
You should go with postpaid if those perks are something you’d like… personally the extra 500GB of Verizon cloud storage would be amazing and i don’t think that’s been given enough attention… postpaid plans are also great for family plans because you get that gnarly multi-line discount! - Наука та технологія
Prepaid by far at least for me ! I saved so much money 💰 switching to a prepaid plan from Verizon !
Been on Verizon Prepaid since 2013, since early 2020 they were able to grandfather my family plan and was able to stay on the family plan and only pay 65$/Month
Add up more benefits to your account with my client agent ,with him you get extra perks of using your Verizon account.
Am Interested In Getting this however am not a geeky Person,i have plans getting the verizon line yet I Seem to Have No one to take care of me.
Hello would i be able to get the new samsung phones with Tonys help, cause I am Despirate to switch my note 9, Verizon doesn't have a decent Offers with my own Unlimited Account . it appears am strolling in waters here.If he can help me I will truly appreciate.
Can someone help me out,i have no knowledge about it
For singles, just get prepaid. You’re getting no love from postpaid. Not doubt!! Awesome video
🙂
One line cost me 115 on postpaid
Prepaid I'm 45
@@Truecrimeresearcher224 not the same
@@callmeNeno how it goes with the comment single lines prepaid is better
WOW!! Such an awesome video! Excellent information. I’m coming over from Sprint/T-Mobile and based on your information, and my usage and need for only 1 line, Prepaid would work best for me.
I pay $ 27.00 a month for the $40 5g prepaid plan. I have the $10 loyalty and $5 autopay discount. The plan works for me because I use wifi at home and work. Also I don't care about the extra features postpaid has.
Dm me for great offer
What happens if you go over the 5gb? Im considering getting this plan.
@@Sweet5695 from what I read on Verizon's website, once youve used the 5gb of data your data is reduced to 2gb speeds. So have to purchase a data boost. I always use WiFi so I've never run out of data.
@@jasonmims5057 What if your not in a 5g area does it switch to 4g?
You have a great singing voice there at the end. Didn’t realize you could sing so pretty. Also, just got prepaid and cannot use integrated calling, unblind and I’m having trouble with Wi-Fi calling. Also, your biggest fan. 😇😊
I switched to Verizon prepaid unlimited. However, I had to switch back to postpaid as prepaid only gets access to Verizon owned towers only. Not the towers they use from 3rd party networks. The customer service rep told me prepaid does not have access to all 3rd party towers. I had to Google it, I didn’t realize Verizon/att use each other’s towers in certain areas/states. Kinda weird but definitely needs to be put out.
They mention they don’t roam. But honestly for most people they don’t need roaming if they have good coverage in their area. I’m on visible, a Verizon prepaid plan without roaming, I drove from the top of Ohio almost to South Carolina, didn’t buffer my music or have issues with my maps once the whole 9 hours
2:40 Prepaid offers loyalty discounts after 3 months and 9 months, i.e. $60 per month plan drops to $50 per month after 9 months.
Post paid does not offer loyalty but offers multi line discounts
This is so nice to know before going into the store. Thanks for posting.
I'm getting loyalty discount and I have postpaid
Much appreciated, this was helpful
Would you like a free prepaid card worth $30 ?
I cant use it on my phone and Verizon will not give me a refund.
Dont want it to go to waste
Prepaid!! ❤️
I've been on the 15GB prepaid plan since 2011 or before. I currently pay $35 a month & can't complain, great coverage, it's cheap & it works.
Not bad, I pay 35$ a month for Verizon unlimited, here is how. Since I use Verizon internet I get a 50% off just for having the 90 dollar phone unlimited plan. So since my internet plan is 90/m I save 45$ in total every month. In addition, I save an extra 10 dollars because I get free apple music with the plan, so thats 55$ in total savings/m . 55-90$ is 35$ a month for unlimited, on top of that, I get free international calling, fast unlimited data and cellular, and 800$ towards a new phone each year, so its a good deal.
You've been on the VZ Prepaid for that long? You're a rare breed.
I’m receiving that loyalty discount right now plus $5 for autopay with unlimited data plan. I’m also using an iPhone 12MAX PRO and I’m loving it
I'll look into getting a prepaid plan. Thanks for posting the video!
You'll save a lot of money over long-term.
I’ve had prepaid plan for almost 3 years. Then I saw the new prepaid plans giving loyalty discount and switching saved me $15/month! At $25/month it’s the same price as consumer cellular with much better network. I don’t use much data so I don’t need all the bells and whistles that come with postpaid. Also no credit check for prepaid.
Great video!!! And Anyone deciding if you should get prepaid or postpaid look at it with your wallet. Yes postpaid offer extra features hulu, Hotspot, etc but also when your contact ends you gave the company an extra $200+ dollars for nothing. When in reality you could of avoided all that with a pay as you go plan. But your choice and your money do as you please.
Excellent video!
what is the data cap and speed difference in unlt prepaid?
Can a prepaid Samsung Walmart a53 phone be used on a paid t-mobile plan ? Thanks ... Great video.
I haven't watched all of the video yet so I don't know if you will address this or not but if they throttle the prepaid plans and don't the postpaid plans even with just one line how would the prepaid be better?
I think i just felt in love
Just curious how many times do i shoot the video to get it the way u like
I have prepaid AT&T myself the unlimited plus plan everything unlimited & also 10gigs of hotspot every month all for $50 a month with auto pay it's cheaper then Verizon & AT&T has about the same or better coverage as Verizon does but Verizon doesn't offer hotspot on there unlimited plan with AT&T you get the extra 10 gigs all for $50 for good coverage & a really good phone plan way better & cheaper then postpaid account prepaid is the way to go for the same great service & coverage as postpaid is POSTPAID is just extra money & a rip off
Their new unlimited plan offers hotspot now
Same here
Safe and sound
I contacted Verizon on if I could switch to pre paid as I am a post paid customer and they said you would not qualify for $65 unlimited plan to be $50 although I have been a Verizon customer for over a year. The person I spoke with was named Claude.
I was ones in this situation before this is really common, but I met a guy who was able to help me, I think It has something to do with the initial limit that's placed on the account when it was first made,he explained to me what was wrong and even helped me upgrade, at a fairly cheaper rate, it took him less than an hour to solve the problem, here is his email {josephbergg@gmail.com}. you can contact him, he might be able to help to you
@@frederickhernandez1010 Thanks for the reply. I switched to xfinity mobile. Same coverage as Verizon for $45 a Month unlimited. I received a $50 visa gift card plus free cable on my phone free flex free peacock and a free streaming device for the cable. I was looking at mint mobile to but the package xfinity gave me was unreal.
@@jrgalnWow that sounds really nice,
@@frederickhernandez1010 Yes. A deal I couldn't refuse.
Been on Verizon prepaid 2017 only because I broke my MetroPCS phone when I threw it because I lost playing a game. Verizon happened to be the nearest while I was traveling so had to buy it Prepaid phone. Now I have S21Ultra5g and it's slower than my old S9+. Only good thing about this new phone is the super fast charging and it also has the edge lighting but no SD nor headphone slots. Now I'm stuck in this situation.
What about all the extra charges and fees when u go post paid vs pre paid.
I mean if you can afford the phone that you want to get....why would anyone pay for the ridiculous post-paid prices? That is so stupid. Post-paid is a complete ripoff. You could have the phone you want within a year for all of the taxes and add ons that come with a contract. Liberate yourselves and get pre-paid.
Yeah I was on postpaid and finally switched to prepaid looking to cut costs after getting a new Fiber line at my home. Was very dumb that I was paying 40 dollars a month more than I needed too. So far I haven't noticed any difference in speeds. I guess sometimes your speeds get slowed down a little more than postpaid users but who cares when you are saving 30-40 a month on prepaid unlimited vs. Postpaid. The only other difference is stuff like 6 months free Disney crap.
But apparently Postpaid can be ok if you are buying multiple lines for a big family because of the discounts.
What about the speed test?
nice breakdown
Really
i would love to go to prepaid but as over the road truck driver i need service almost everywhere plus i use my phone to stream radio i have not found prepaid that has the coverage as post paid but when i retire i will be going prepaid but for now i need dependable service and verzion has gave me best coverage and best streaming service
I know this is an older video, but I must agree with you. Verizon prepaid is what I have now and I'm not able to get the good coverage that a postpaid Verizon plan gets. There are parts of Tallahassee Florida that I have zero signal, yet everyone else has it fine. I've heard that it's because the prepaid lines can only use Verizon towers where postpaid use whatever is available. That's where they get you I suppose.
I say prepaid is the way to go I don't care if postpaid gives you free phones or anything they give I once couldn't pay my bill because my job went broke I went as well I couldn't pay TMobile and sprint back in 2008 they even send me to debit collection I had to pay 2 thousand dollars for both I was like wow that's why ever since that happened to me I went prepaid be careful with postpaid if one day you don't have a job that's why I have simple mobile and att prepaid way more economic.
Love from my heart
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽great info
Would the voice quality be the same?
Sad they removed the 75gb on get more unlimited plan
I pay $29 per month for Verizon prepaid
Iv been with Verizon off and on since 2013 with my Verizon loyalty discount they give me $40 off my bill and with auto bill pay. My bill goes from $440 to $392. I have $5,000 financed though and I have Hulu and Disney plus free and I have AAA road side assistance. With 2 phone lines galaxy S8+ tablet with 3 arlo cameras.5GUW is crazy fast.
Verizon has very sky-high service whether it is prepaid or postpaid. I pay $78 for a prepaid plan to get home internet.
I got Verizon prepaid phone from Walmart and I like it
Prepaid is good enough I’d say.
question about the prepaid plans, I see now its called Unlimited plus. Is that truly unlimited or will I be slowed down before post paid? I dont really care for hulu and other stuff streaming services like that.
The unlimited plus is that. I don't think you get slowed down
i have att prepaid single on the unlimited plus with auto pay i only pay 55 with tax monthly super happy ZEROCOMPLAINTTS I use 150gigs monthly with att every month i hate wifi sinc e att is super reliable
Att drops too much I dont get you say reliable
@@jdillard343434 do the speeds really drop dramatically on prepaid unlimited plus? Currently a metro pcs user but I've been shopping around for a good plan with either verizon or at&t.
@@jdillard343434 I disagree 100% It’s all about the phone it really is whether I was in Michigan or in Illinois or New York State very satisfied with my service. And now I live in New York State and I have T-Mobile and I’m very satisfied also. I’ve had iPhone my whole life and that’s all I can say I’m not gonna argue. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion so
I thought verizon got rid of the contract plan!
You didn’t mention data speeds. Does Verizon Prepaid get deprioritized?
Oh it definitely does the question is going to be how much and how bad I tried Visible and it’s really bad I’ve had Boost Mobile for the past few years and I’m still on the original Sprint network and my data is way faster than it is on visible
@@thetechlibrarian depends where you live. Coverage and experience can be diffrent from city to city between networks
Prepaid is really good deal
Great
Hola Tévez bonita saludos 🖖 me gusta Verizon wireless es la mejor compañía en norte America 🇺🇸
That's sad cuz Verizon had that Paul guy , making it seem Verizon affordable
Are those prepaid rates the total cost or are there taxes and fees added?
Taxes are added on top of the plan fees.
All I want is a $40 Verizon plan with 30 gb of priority data and 5g ultra wide band. I don't need streaming perks or hotspot.
Prepaid is the way to go for any carrier, as You need not subject Your Social Security number to the vagaries of what mobile carriers deem to be 'SECURITY'
You can by a phone at Apple and buy an unlocked phone on Apple Pay
Prepaid
Currently shopping for a new plan after 20 years of being a post-paid customer. If I switch to a pre-paid plan, am I starting over and waiting to get the loyalty discount like a new customer would?
I think so. But you can always talk to Verizon directly
You do lose more cell service with prepaid than post paid... I think of you live in a big city you kinda don't but living here in northwest you do
This is accurate!
With post paid plans, you get 1st dibs on reception & service over post paid plans, prepaid more likely to be depriortized!
Just know this before getting any prepaid plans with any cellular carriers.
Bulb Man Everyone gets the same reception. It’s just reprioritization and roaming prepaid doesn’t get
Actually prepaid has 5G now with the $75 plan
Show you paying for postpaid on your phone.
My Prepaid Verizon unlimited speed sucks ( depolarized). Moving to T-Mobile prepaid unlimited (not depolarized)!
I just switched to prepaid today amd I am going Back to post paid tomorrow worst download and upload speed on prepaid
What's area. I get very similar speeds maybe not much slower that when I was postpaid. Depends on the time of day and what area of the town I'm in. If I'm closer to the tower I am faster. If in my house it's a few mb slower
I’m by myself in on the best plan post paid but it’s because I need hotspot
Would you like a free prepaid card worth $30 ?

Verizon prepaid bottom tier to Verizon. All prepaid data is deprioratized from the start.
But verizon prepaid is actually better than any other carrier prepaid. Verizon prepaid is faster and more coverage than metro pcs or boost or any other carrier that is prepaid.
Mine isn't. I get the same speeds I was getting postpaid maybe a bit slower not much
