AT&T Prepaid VS PostPaid: Which is Best For You?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 чер 2024
- This is the ultimate AT&T comparison video. I’m comparing AT&T Prepaid to AT&T Postpaid and I will help you decide which one is best for you. In case you’re thinking the ONLY difference between the two is when you pay your bill, i’ve got some news for you... there's a lot to consider.
I’ll be comparing AT&T Unlimited Prepaid and Unlimited Postpaid plans to help you decide which is best for your budget and preferences. There are prepaid and postpaid plan options that AREN’T unlimited, but this video would be really long if I didn't cut it down to just unlimited options. So one day i’ll compare the rest of the postpaid and prepaid plans, but not today.
I’ll be comparing the two in a few categories:
PRICING - PERKS - PLANS - PHONES - COVERAGE
Pricing:
With AT&T unlimited Prepaid you’re looking at two plans: Prepaid Unlimited at $65 but $55 with autopay, and Prepaid Unlimited Plus at $75 or $50 with Autopay.
With Postpaid unlimited you have Starter at $65, Extra at $75, and Elite at $85/month.
Because prepaid is A LOT cheaper (especially if you enroll in autopay) we’re giving them the win here.
Perks:
Next is perks… perks are any free add-ons or special things you don’t have to pay for. With an AT&T prepaid plan you get a few perks including free service in Canada + Mexico (if you’re roaming, you may only get 2G speeds instead of full speed LTE), free texting to 100+ countries, and Unlimited Plus gives you a 10GB hotspot and 5G access. Also with AT&T’s prepaid plans, there’s no credit check.
With AT&T’s postpaid plans you get all of the above and more including a FREE HBO Max subscription with Elite, and larger hotspot allowances: 15GB with Extra, and 30GB with Elite. But with AT&T Postpaid plans there is a credit check.
Because you get a few more perks with postpaid plans, we’re giving them the win here.
Plans:
With Prepaid unlimited you don’t get a hotspot allowance or set amount of high speed data to use which means your data may be slowed down whenever the network is busy... PLUS your video streaming will only be in SD. With Prepaid Unlimited Plus you get 22GB of guaranteed high speed data… but after you use 22GB, your data might be slowed during times of congestion. You also get a 10GB hotspot allotment, can stream videos in HD, and get 5G access.
And with the postpaid plans you get larger data de-prioritization thresholds and bigger hotspot allowances free device security, fraud blocking, and spam risk alerts.
Although the plans are more expensive, you get a little bit more in terms of what the plans offer, so we’re giving postpaid plans the win here.
Phones:
When it comes to phones, postpaid plans win here. There are more phone options available, AND you can pay for the phone you want with an installment plan on postpaid plans… you can’t have an installment plan on prepaid plans.
Coverage:
When it comes to coverage, this one is a tie because they are each on AT&T’s network. If you get a prepaid plan on an AT&T MVNO like Cricket Wireless for instance, your data might be de-prioritized in favor of AT&T customers. But when it comes to prepaid and postpaid directly on AT&T’s network, there’s no difference.
So should you go with an unlimited plan from AT&T Postpaid or Prepaid??? If you’re budget oriented, you should 100-percent go with AT&T prepaid. Their prices are MUCH cheaper especially when you take into account the autopay discount. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better deal than $50/month for unlimited everything plus a 10GB hotspot! And when you look at the other categories, postpaid only BARELY offers more… You’re getting a killer deal with prepaid.
If you use a lot of data, it might make more sense to go with AT&T Extra or Elite. They have really high de-prioritization thresholds meaning, with those plans you can use more data before your data might slow if the network is congested. AT&T's Postpaid plans also come with slightly more perks, so if you want HBO Max for free, or you want to text over 120 countries vs just over 100…. Then one of the postpaid plans is for you.
If I were to choose between these plans, I’d go with Prepaid Unlimited Plus… all around it offers the best value and gives me everything I need without paying an arm and a leg. Which plan would you choose? Let me know in the comments. I’m sherri riggs with WhistleOut TV! - Наука та технологія
After 3 years with Sprint on postpaid, finally i made a change to ATT PREPAID UNLIMITED PLUS. I'm a heavy data consumer and oh boy not only coverage improved also my bill wage went from a skyrocket 180 per month to only 50! lesson learned if I want to buy a new phone better save the money couple months and not finance with phone company
Seems like a great switch!!
@@crimsonnite9291 but how much data
@@joessepirangel7744 It’s 4g for like 15 gigs it’s not as good as you think. Plus you get highly de prioritized over every person who has the carriers tower your using.
Thank you for all this good information. With medical bills piling up from covid-19 and family getting laid off this video has really helped us make better budget opportunities
I have AT&T Postpaid, but ironically I’m a Store Manager at Cricket
@@BellDistrict Yes
Switched from Verizon and went with the att unlimited prepaid plus plan. 22GB priority data, 5G, no cap on streaming quality, and 10GB hotspot all for $50 is one of the best deals in the market. Even after going over 22GB slowest speed I’ve dealt with is 50Mbps.
Agreed!! seriously sweet deal.
Do you have the unlimited plus offer with autopay ?? Which drops to $50 monthy?? I might get it but I wanted to know how exactly you bill looks like with the hidden fees and stuff!!
@@PROLEGEND13 same
Metropcs gives you 35 gb priority... free unlimited music streaming and free amazon prime for 60$ att is trash

AT&T prepaid is the best way to go.
They are some pretty awesome deals and plans!
💪🏻
It isnt tho
Yep prepaid is way better I have the 5gb plan and pay only $30 per month
Can you use bridge pay with prepaid?
Thank you sooo very much!!! This was extremely helpful
Yay, Tasha! i'm so glad!
Thanks for the video! It would also be helpful if you made one comparing the limited ATT data plans too
thanks for the idea! I'll definitely put it on my calendar
This video is great!
thank you so much! I appreciate the support 💕
AT&T is simply the best!
Thanks im going with prepaid unlimited.
Good job. Thank you.
I have had all service providers prepaid and postpaid. For me, AT&T prepaid is hands down the best. For 50 a month I have 22gb of premium data, 5g, 10g of hotspot and HD streaming. Absolutely the best deal in wireless!
Please how did you get the HD streaming best in wireless
@@geenaisana7013 you go into your settings under the account menu on the att go website and set it.
Thanks for info!
I just get an unlocked SE 2020 and have regular unlimited prepaid plus a 20 dollar autopsy discount that knocks it down to $45 a month plus tax. Which is around 50.
I got a prepaid AT&T plan for my cousin that is the highest one for $75 but with auto pay it’s $50 which is great and affordable
I really want to get this plan cus verizon is too expensive but I keep saying no im good when I know im not lol
How many gigs?
Are you locked in at $50 or does it go back to $75 when the deal is over?
Do they sell prepaid phones?
Evan Faraday Unlimited but 22 gb priority data
Great video
ATT prepaid is better for multiple users. I am able to get a significant multiuser discount for adding my two parents. I have an unlimited plus plan. They each have 8 GB and it suffices for them. We pay $110 for three lines.
Just curious, when all these prepaid plans say stream on SD 480p, that just means when off of Wi-fi right? As somebody who is generally on Wi-Fi 95% of the time I'd assume you'd still be able to stream at whatever resolution is the best. Correct?
Correct bud
Awesome, also you can only add an Apple Watch or other wearables to a postpaid plan
That's a great idea! Do want a wearables video for AT&T or another carrier?
WhistleOut YESSS!!!
You say there is no coverage differences but some people say there is between post paid & pre paid. It would be interesting to see a real world coverage & speed comparison between the two.
Postpaid has higher priority.
@@texnkid proof? Cause I swear the data has been off beat the last 3yrs
@@HoweyJR_ Google it.
@@texnkid u think I should go back to postpaid wit AT&T?
Shes lying! I had prepaid and even the employee said the service is the lowest class! And they prioritize postpaid customers are gods! Prepaid you get SHITTY SERVICE!
Great video! One more question. AT&T prepaid or T-Mobile post pay? My wife and I can get the Unlimited 55 magenta plan for $70 and free iPhone 12s with trade-in! AT&T prepaid would be $100 ( + taxes?) . I’m just concerned that I will be disappointed with T-Mobile‘s service. I’m coming from Verizon Prepaid that has had slowed down speeds in congested areas, most recently the Charlotte airport 🤬. I live in Louisville, Kentucky. Not a rural area. Thanks
In the prepaid market, Verizon is the worst for deprioritizing . There are too many good prepaid options now to be choosing Verizon prepaid . Btw I would ( did ) choose AT&T over T-Mobile any day . But you do you 🤷🏻♂️
AT&T prepaid is finally in my area. I didn't understand why the phones, cards, and SIM cards were in my stores if it wasn't in my area. but I switched to cricket and asked about AT&T and they said it's in my area
Does anyone know if the prepaid plus of they congest after 22gb i am jw because that's what I got but when i had tmobile magenta it was not cheap and they also would run co gestion way too much and tmobiles 5g doesn't even work
I absolutely hated tmobile. Way too many dropped calls.
I have gone over the 22gb threshold and never ever noticed a difference in speeds. I think the key word is COULD happen but not necessarily WILL happen.
With postpaid you get charged extra 20 dollars a month for using there service
Even with prepaid
@@joessepirangel7744 no u dont
So if I'm to go with prepaid how/what am I to do about getting device security/fraud blocking/spam risk alerts
?
What do you need for pre paid? Do you need your social security? Your credit score? Or what
none of those just a compatible unlocked phone
I got att prepaid and I love it especially since I have att tv now live tv streaming tv service and I can watch on my phone without it going against my data. I dont like that att prepaid charges taxes every month no other prepaid provider does that smh plus I hate they dont have an app to pay your bill they only have an app for contract pay customers... instead I have 2 use a browser smh.... Sorry 4 the rant 😂 love the video I'm new here and I'm I'm definately subscribing your 💞🤤😍🤞
Is there really no app? How much more in taxes. Like 3, 4 dollas?
glad you enjoyed the video and stoked for the sub!! thanks for the support!
@@DeezDotz no there is no app for prepaid customers you have to use a browser and it's like 2.50 to 3.00 in taxes
@@NoCaping hm not bad tho was it an online only deal or can u go to a store. Online is not an option for me. I want to bring my galaxy s9 in. Its fully unlocked
Just buy AT&T gift cards from Target, and apply it to your account to avoid taxes, and fees. AT&T just has to have a card on file, but they won't charge if you apply the gift card balance.
How does network congestion work? I plan to do IRL live streaming as I walk around my city. Is it dependent on where I go in the city? Or network congestion means the whole city is congested?
it will slow down your data before the maximum gb
I got the elite plan I use a lot of data monthly
Went from AT&T postpaid to prepaid and back to postpaid. Two main reasons why I switch back to postpaid. With prepaid you’ll be waiting an average of 45 minutes to speak to customer service representative from the Philippines, so unless you speak Tagalo English and you get into service trouble in a foreign country your sh’t out of luck. Secondly with prepaid you won’t be able to use your phone account for security verifications purposes from agencies wanting to verify your identify.
Would you explain more about why the prepaid caused security verification issues? I don’t understand why the type of plan would be a problem.
Bullshit
Can I add more hotspot data to my plan ?
So is the 65 dollar pre paid plan worth it
What would you recommend for someone who doesn't live in the USA but visits often for vacation "often being once or twice every 2 to 6 years"
how long do you stay in America
what is your carrier back where you live
cause prepaid is usually best as long as your phone is unlocked
@@Truecrimeresearcher224 I'll be there for 2 to 3 weeks here in New Zealand I'm on Spark NZ and will be using an iPhone 14 Pro Max that I bought online on the New Zealand Apple Store website I'm probably looking at getting an AT&T prepaid eSIM for my Mother and me my Father and Sister are going too but only my Mother and I are getting a temporary line on one plan
Wait with prepaid you can buys cards to add minutes like the tracfone correct??
Yes or you can use autopay which saves money on some of the plans.
Prepaid lines are not priority on att towers and not all AT&T towers recognize prepaid as there own carrier so service is like 3rd class
Yes you are 100% right and she is lying and doesnt know shit. I had att prepaid and it was Horrible!!!!
I have s21 ultra I pay 65 plan my question is do I get 5g service if my phone is 5g
I tried doing auto-pay with a carrier years ago and I refuse to do that again. A total nightmare. One of the main issues was them dipping into my account early plus doing it twice in a week! Not again...
I have autopay & I have zero issues the only issue I have with at&t prepaid is the bill changes every month
I was thinking of AT&T prepaid lol..i have cricket wireless that's on AT&T towers..
I do too. And I love how fast and reliable it is. I was thinking of att prepaid but I don’t know if they offer payment extensions like cricket
Awww thank u
Can u do one for att business
i'll definitely look into AT&T Business!! great idea!!
I’m satisfied with my Unlimited Elite plan! I started off with the starter and switched. Can’t complain. HBO Max plus that 30g of Hotspot 🥵..loving it.
If i ever switch off my plan, AT&T Elite is the one i wanna go with!!
When is bill to be paid with elite
@@_mackensie Postpaid
The HBO app is absolutely the worst streaming and downloading app I have ever used! That’s why AT&T gives it to you for free 🤣
If you want to upgrade phone every year and you keep roaming abroad then post paid plan only is the option.
Can i put a postpaid in a prepaid
I have the 15GB plan and I get slowed down where I can’t even use the Internet in times of congestion, very annoying, but I don’t need that much data. 🤷🏽 What to do?
Prepaid or postpaid?
That ATT $15 per month prepaid plan that was offered in March permanent? The customer service reps said it wasn’t and I want to know if I was lied to.
Yeah... it's not a permanent plan.

Allen Henry so even if you got it they roll you over to a more expensive plan?
Pre paid duhh because you save 💰💰in the long term!
You have way more options for phones on AT&T too. AT&T is amazing.
How much to add an iPad?
I had att postpaid bill was too high. Went to prepaid the highest one. 65.00 for unlimited everything, 50.00 with autopay.
If I'm visiting the States will I be tied to a 12 month contract with the prepaid?
Nope
I want the 50 dollar one. On prepaid. But does the price change after a year or something
Also is the 50 dollar auto pay deal for galaxy s9s. I have my own phone. But i checked the prepaid store online and they barely have any options of phones.
If you get the plan now, the pricing shouldn't change. But I can look at the fine print and get back to you. And if you bring your own phone, as long as it's compatible with the network, you should be fine to use it!
@@whistleout yes plz get back to me and also i saw the pre paid phones. Is it only those phones that can work with the prepaid cuz i have a galaxy s9. They make it look that way and they make it look like its only an online deal which would not work for me. I have to go to an at&t store
The pricing doesn’t change as long as you stay using the Autopay feature
@@WrightFashions thanks so much for your help. Ima go to an at&t. Hopefully this prepaid deal isnt an online only deal
Power paid is pointless since I get terrible customer service either way, I’ve had to call in 5 times for the same issue. Converting to prepaid or T-Mobile
Do you get WiFi calling, hd voice and visual voicemail on att prepaid?
Yes
Yes on all.
For the WI-Fi calling you must have an ATT phone. The reason is the embedded URL for WIFI calling differs from carrier to carrier
I had to watch this video over a few times cuz I couldn't focus and concentrate cuz of your Beautiful face 😂😍

@@officialmeezy6636 aww someone is jealous and in need of attention? 😂😂😂
Yes this is the perfect look for you.
You save a ton on phone on postpaid though
Can you keep your same number?
You should be able to port your number over just fineif you want to switch :) technically each carrier has to let you! just communicate that with them and they'll take care of it when you switch.
Prepaid sounds good to me
how serious does att take the over 22 gigs of data? do they really slow it down to a crawl?
Currently Over 50GB on prepaid unlimited plus and averaging between 80-100Mbps
As it said in the video, after 22 gigs, it will not slow down unless there is a congestion. If you get the 8gb plan it will, as you say, slow it down to a crawl.
It ain’t that bad ATT has tons of spectrum and some of the fastest speeds
Do prepaid or post for Verizon
I'll definitely be adding that to my content calendar! anything specific you want me to compare??
Just like you did w this one why should take Verizon prepaid or postpaid
pre-paid is worse than postpaid tbh. glad i'm with postpaid that is unlimited calls, text, and data. no need to worry about limiting my data.
I am gonna be on a post paid plan which is gonna 65 and 10 for the phone does anyone if they will charge anything over 80 ! Since I will be a singler line I don’t want to pay anything over that
Hi baby
Just get prepaid unlimited plus for $50 a month on autopay then finance a new iPhone through Apple on their credit card if you want to pay in installments and get Apple care. However, if you can pay in full for it, it’s better to do that so you won’t get in debt for a phone lol. And if you want to switch carriers later on, it would be easier because the phone won’t be tied to one carrier if it’s purchased sim free from Apple Meaning it’s unlocked
"get iphone" um, no... Instead get unlocked android from amazon, and you'll never be locked out and does everything you want it to. The most important thing is, its cheaper, but also it's unlocked, so you can use it with any carrier when ever you feel like it.
muon slim All iPhones currently support all carriers. You can request an unlocked iPhone from Apple for the same price. Even if you don’t, all you have to do is request your iPhone to be unlocked from the carrier and they will do it free of charge. No thanks. I do not want an inferior Android thank you very much.
@@jordanbanko5347 inferior? I think you have that the wrong way around. Android has a custom roms you definately havnt seen how powerful that is
Why would I get an iPhone? It's so limited, and PIP is not supported with UA-cam. Who knows if they will support with iOS 14.
Gilbert Galvan I just like iPhones. I understand they aren’t for everyone but I’m doing just fine with mine. I was just saying that if someone wants an iPhone. Also a lot of my family and friends have iPhones so that’s we’re I was coming from
Is anybody else on Att prepaid getting H+ for their signal?
I did when I had a Verizon unlocked phone and used it on AT&T network . The fix is to get an AT&T phone
I have a Huawei Mate 20X International version, I get 4G LTE
There is a big difference between prepaid and postpaid if you are out of state in & area where your roaming , prepaid does not get roaming agreements so you have No Service! For instance several places out west & in Kentucky
Really?! Cause that sure would be good to know ! That's terrible.
I get prepaid 65 plan but they said 5g comes free with 5g phone
Had same issues but a friend helped me out
I pay $30 a monthly prepaid+ upgrade my phone i bought at fred Myer
Wtf! ₹5000 for a month??????? Am from india and even tho 4g is slower compared to the US its managable about 10-20 mbps and we get like 1.5gb a day of data for ₹399 which is about $6 a month .
Att prepaid
I gotta say prepaid but I wish att would give more data on the $40 plan they give now 15GBs of data how about giving us 35Gbs to me that's decent to be unlimited sd streaming would be cool for $40 or $45 Nice just saying 15Gb of data is not enough.
this needs an update
AT&T postpaid is 💯 percent the way to go prepaid are for bums with bad credit and can't afford postpaid accounts
And one thing you have wrong that I have to correct you on is that if you don’t have congestion with AT&T where you live it you don’t got to worry about that I have AT&T prepaid and AT&T postpaid just cause I want to on postpaid I’m on the unlimited extra on prepaid I’m on the unlimited plus and I use 250 gigs on my post pay plan and 150 gigs on my prepaid plan because there’s no privatization here where I live at in New Jersey they have a robust network AT&T does so there’s no redo speeds so if Liver you don’t have congestion with AT&T you don’t got nothing to worry about you’ll have unlimited Internet with either prepaid or postpaid
is postpaid data faster than prepaid, is prepaid data prioritized
Travis Vigne Postpaid is prioritized during congestion
If you buy your phone beforehand you do not have to do a credit check for postpaid .. she should’ve said that in the video
If you buy your phone outright why in the world would you pay the post paid premium? No one would do that.
@@earlusmcdivett if you don’t buy your phone you pay the premium plus the installment price did the phone ... If you buy the phone out right you just pay the premium your comment was the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard
I always had prepaid phone plans until a few years ago. I brought my own device to at&t and got on a postpaid plan. My prepaid plan was just shy of $70. My postpaid plan for 1 line was $120 the first month then $110 monthly until I stopped paying it. Now I pay $110 a month for 2 unlimited phone lines and I get 50GB of hotspot between both plans. I rather save that $650 a year and buy a $200-300 phone every 2-4 years.
At&t postpaid 💯 percent the way to go prepaid are people with bad credit and can't afford postpaid
So you just made this video lesson 10 hours ago so you should have seen that prepaid has a $25 discount for the highs unlimited AT&T plus so instead of 75 it’s 50 And then just pay the taxes on top of that so I pay $55 a month for AT&T plus on pre-paid. So I’m surprised that you missed that considering this video is less than 10 hours old and the promotions running through October
That pricing is in the video :)
