One quick spoiler free pointer you might appreciate: Those little baby chests you find around town are tied to how complete the location is. They are also the best way to acquire stat boosting items as you play through the game. You picked up a particularly important one at ~1:03:26. This is how you raise your characters' stats, so keep an eye out!
1:55 You got the idea lol. 5:15 I'd love to see you check out Rogue Galaxy. It is from the same devs and they play with and further refine a lot of the ideas in Dark Cloud 1 & 2 9:00 Yeah, there's a lot of ways you can break the game once you know all the secrets. I won't spoil it, beyond saying that being deliberate with what things you "merge" with the weapon when upgrading is very important. You'll figure it out soon enough, if you want to know more check the manual or just ask :) 12:29 I'm glad you are having fun with it now, because some of the later sequences are brutal...especially if you want to get a perfect score for the best rewards. 15:20 So these SynthSpheres the game glosses over really quick are pretty important for getting good weapons as the game goes on. Your Dagger can be turned into a synthsphere as many times as you want to level it back up to max (it will simply reset to level 0). Just something to keep in mind. PS: If your Dagger gets down to 0 durability, it won't break, but will start to do 1 damage, which is nearly as useless. 32:23 Yeah, you already fulfilled their conditions completely by happenstance. 36:00 Yeah, the pacing in this beginning section is a bit off for sure. I guess they were eager to get you in the dungeon, so they had to kinda dish out tutorial information piecemeal. 39:00 These complaints will get mitigated as the game goes on. They kinda frontload a lot of the micromanagement aspects. The stone enemies that destroy your durability certainly don't help things. 1:01:02 I knooooooowwwwww lol.
Hey I love these types of comments! Nice to see you back. Getting into Dark Cloud 1 is a unique experience for sure. The opening pacing is definetly wonk compared to modern games, honestly heavy handed and at times boring. That said, it isn't like they didn't learn a bunch of lessons from this. I also admit, never played Rogue Galaxy but I've been reading a lot about it. It may well be something I need to dive into in the future!
@@JoshPAuthor Glad to see they aren't annoying or anything, I just get very excited about things, you know? It is pretty cool to see how a developer evolves and develops over time. I'd love to see you play Dark Cloud 2 and then Rogue Galaxy on the channel. Could be a cool exercise.
