My hope for the OST is that it isn't just a cluster of various songs by Jun Senoue and various songs by Tee Lopes, but is an active collaboration between both of them. Jun has a great history with Sonic music, and Tee Lopes did a fantastic job modernizing the sound of classic Sonic. Rather than risking a mismatched OST that falls back on both artists' respective styles of "classic Sonic" music, I'd love to see the soundtrack take advantage of both of them working together to create something unified, like how Team Sonic Racing handled it.
Everything should be Underground Zone Re-Imagined.
If they make it like tmnt shredders revenge I think it’ll be successful.

In all seriousness though, that was, and still is, my main concern with Superstars. If they made this game have tons of replayability, it would absolutely be worth the $60 price tag. I'm still excited for the game nonetheless!
On the official Superstars website, it does actually say that there will be an online versus mode. I think that counts as an online multiplayer
7:50 I think you missed right here, pretty sure the creators of sonic have gone out of their way to say that sonic gameplay was designed the way it was because they were inspired by Mario’s 1-1 and beating that level over and over until they perfected it and beat it as fast as possible. Level memorization and mastery have always been core parts of sonic gameplay, probably even more so than the 3D games, because in the 3D games you can usually just hit a button and go fast whereas in the old game you have to know what’s coming and master the physics.
I agree, that's exactly what Sonic 1 was designed around, replayability and memorization (which is probably why Matt and a bunch of people don't like that game lol, which is funny in Matt's case because he liked CD for that same reason).
@@johney-duh-one sonic cd is a perfect example of a game that thrives off of memorizing the levels and mastering the mechanics, and he even says it himself in his review of the game, he just had a really weird take in this moment that was pretty off, and that’s not the only one it was just the only I commented on.
I am quite optimistic for Superstars. This game is going to be amazing

A part of the replayability could be going back to the stages (maybe New Game+) with all of the Chaos Emerlad powers.
With it being a classic game, I doubt it'll have new game +. You can probably just revisit the levels

In Sonic Generations 3DS there were these wall running sections with multiple pathways. Where you went was dependent on how fast you were when you got to the section. So it could be that again.

Even if there are some worries that I can understand, I still think this game will be overall good, at the very least. I hope Classic Sonic gets more love when this game comes out because he’s been relentlessly hated on in recent years by many.

Ok, Matt I see what you mean but I'm not talking about transfering Modern Sonic's moveset to Classic Sonic; I'm saying have Classic Sonic's new abilities that he requires in Superstars and transfer those abilities into Classic Super Sonic. That's what I meant.

I still why Sonic fans worry that Sonic Superstars will be next "Sonic 4" when clearly look at the footage so far, you can see the major difference between those two products also I still don't get major hate of Sonic 4 like Sonic fans act like it's the worst thing in the world (when it's really not lmao)
Mine hope is pretty small one. I think the power wheel has 8 spots, so I assume 1 for each emerald, plus a spot to go Super. I'd like a proper character design change instead of just a pulsing color change for Supers. Theres a mod for Amy in Mania that I adjusted the color palette for to make her color gold, and it looks amazing.

The "Will Sonic Superstars Sell Well?" segment was weirdly wholesome.
I am very confident for this game. I hope it has content. In frontiers, the biggest problem is the replayablility because of the lack of content. I think at the release of the game, the price will be around between 35-40 $. I am french and in france, Sonic frontiers was 55€ (60$) but when the game released, the price became 35 € (40$) and less if you pick it used. Excuse me if my english is not perfect.
The sales affects the budget for the next game which could lead to art style changes and gameplay changes that can make something that would be the epitome of an innovated classic sonic

Online mode has been confirmed! We don't have much info but it's 8Player and it's going to take place in a sort of minigame? Hopefully we get more info.
Iizuka explained there won’t be online multiplayer because the technology just isn’t there. We can get 100 people from across a Continent in one Massive Map in Fortnite but we can’t get 4 Sonic Characters running across a 2D level 🤣

Sonic Mania is also my most played Sonic game on Steam! It's also my second most played Steam game, with Terraria taking the spot as my most played (and it was Mania until I caved in and re-bought Terraria after I couldn't be bothered to wait for tModLoader to update to the GOG version). On the topic of Steam, my main worry is that the game will be an EGS exclusive and I won't be able to play it since EGS isn't on Linux and offers no Proton counterpart.
I heard somewhere that the reason there isn't online multiplayer for Superstars is because the game is too fast-paced, so connection or sync issues can make the game significantly harder to play.
I have no verification on this, but it does make sense if it is true.

Nintendo had that hefty release deal with Genesis games on NSO. DeNA and nintendo started some "Nintendo Systems" program behind the scenes. Arzest, is a company that developed Hey! Pikmin and Sonic and Mario 2016 3DS version, and Nintendo is opening up a lot to expansion and outsider developers. A rumored Mario and Sonic game IS in the works, but little is known.
Another game that is supposed to have a battle mode, is Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Characters can clip past each other, but
ground pounds do connect.
I think Sonic Superstars is going to have Mario characters, or even a crossover with Super Mario Bros. Wonder. And I think both games are going to work on Mobile, under a new subscription system for games like Super Mario Run. This system would be Nintendo's bid to halfway make games for competing consoles, and this is how it'll work: it'll be sort of a licensing platform, that checks into a new kind of Miiverse to verify you have purchased the game. This will then be streamed from your mobile downloads, to run on generic computing devices like Xbox Series S. Not literally, more like redownloaded onto an app on that other device, but it will be marketed as streaming and work under those kinds of legal terms, for example in case of FTC meddling.
The character Trip is going to be an element on this feature. If I purely had to guess, I'd say she will be voice acted by Inugami Korone, as sort of a host. In Wonder, similar feature will revolve around the talking flowers.

I’m excited to see superstars. I honestly don’t think the parkour will be automated but I get what people mean by automated. I honestly think that it will be worth it to buy superstars. I’m just mad that superstars is $60 dollars. I honestly want superstars to have online play. I honestly don’t think they should go the route with the sonic rush games into superstars and I’m not really a fan of sonic rush. I honestly don’t think that sonic 4 is going to better than superstars and sonic 4 is bad. The Microtransactions I honestly don’t care about. Superstars and Mario wonder are two big games. The final boss should definitely have super classic sonic in superstars.

17:34 I think this is probably not the actual music that'll be used in the game. Likely placeholder music as we saw with the IGN gameplay, although I don't know where this music actually comes from.
I am optimistic about this game, it looks like the perfect game I would’ve love playing with my siblings growing up, like Super Mario 3D World for Wii U.
Other than that though, I hope there is a new game plus, that lets you unlock the Super Emeralds and the Hyper forms. All of them could have supercharged versions of the standard Chaos Emerald abilities.
Also since Shadow predates Sonic by a few decades, would Shadow in a classic game have his adventure design, or would they make him have a “classic” design.
Online co-op in platforming is such a niche thing, so it’s expected to not happen in my opinion.
Heck I’d be more surprised if they did have it honestly, this goes for Super Mario bros wonder and Mickey Mouse illusion

Lol i have 240+ hours in Sonic Mania, it was my first sonic game ever (if you don't count the mobile games, i had litterally all of them in my phone) and my most played Sonic game on steam. That was mostly due to mods. I have litteraly a folder with like 10 gigabytes just with Sonic Mania mods💀
The only thing I'm really hoping for that I haven't seen confirmed is that I hope Fang will be playable

Controls, fluidity, true physics, not automated, colourful levels, banging music, multiple pathways that are more fun at the top, high frame rate! not choppy rubbish like we've seen.

I think I've heard something about online multiplayer but that was more of like a battle mode. But that's still online.
Like Sega Technical Institute used to try. Probably Classic Sonic should stay in Sega Genesis Era and Sega Saturn like in case of Paper Mario.
I loved that little rant on how we should’ve got another Rush Game or a new Modern 2D series where they could experiment. I’m not gonna lie seeing Classic Sonic grind in that Jungle Level already feels like they’re breaking that classic formula and was a bit jarring to me personally, Modern Sonic did grinding first therefore it should stay unique to him.
I REALLY hope they add online multiplayer at some point, because local exclusive isn't an option for many people.
A good take I have is that I hope that all the characters could fight the secret final boss with the Chaos Emeralds, since in Mania only Sonic could fight it. Hope that changes with this game

I feel like sonic team should’ve made a game like bowsers fury instead of frontiers as now the world feels empty and you’re just roaming around endlessly wish they made a game like that with zones and different zones with different objectives but not exactly like bowsers fury so not a collect a thon,would make the game less empty in my opinion
Im always about quality over content for the sake of content. My favorite games are Mario Sonic and horror games. All of which are usually less than 10 hours most less than 5. Replayability is the name of the game and if a game is incredibly repalyable then its worth the money. I cant imagine Superstars being more than 2-3 hours long. Its a 2d sonic. How long can it possibly be? But learning a sonic level and finding all the secrets and having the multiple routes will make it replayable and worth the money. I usually will put over 100 hours into a short game if i like it. I replay a lot of old games in between new releases i like. Also 2d sonic is very much about prefecting runs once all the secrets are found. I perfect all levels in classic sonic eventually. Classic Sonic is all about learning the levels and perfecting a run after all the exploration

1. The Parkour Ain’t Automated and if it is, I’m not to sure id have to play it
2. If I Can’t Go Back To A Game For It’s Replay-ability, Content, Quality, etc, it’s not worth 60$. So again we have to wait.
3. Ofc No Multiplayer.
4. If we got a 2D Modern Sonic, I can only assume everything would’ve changed about Superstars. The Zones, OST, etc. But we never know what SEGA got cookin😭
5. I’m not really worried about Spider-Man or Mario Wonder sales. Even tho ima add my 60$, ik I will enjoy each and every game.

Could Sonic Super Stars be made in 2D pixelart official for Sega Genesis? Don’t forget about Micromobius(this location should show up in Sonic Triple Trouble where Sonic has to Rescue Princess Tiara Boobowski)and Mobius(Sally Acorn should show up since Sonic-16 in the first place). Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo should show up in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 or rather in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2 not in Sonic Mania in the first place for the first time.

I'm just hoping the the speed is decent, i saw sonic slow down suddenly a lot in the trailer after gaining speed and it bothers me and 2, i'm hoping they use this chance to bring back characters as dlc to be playable, like Blaze, Espio or Cream.......also maybe they might surprise us and bring hyper sonic back
In terms of classics, Espio is the only one that makes sense there. Due to being and alternate timeline, Blaze appearing this early could work. Of course the Sol Emeralds would have to be incorporated due to the emerald powers. But then she’d already have to already know how to use them in that point in time.
For Cream… unless they somehow make her look even younger…

17:33 I don't understand why people are so willing to shit on music that's clearly being played on a real Genesis ad created by one of the guys who did the music for Sonic CD, Naofumi Hataya. All because it doesn't sound like a song from the Sonic games, people need to play stuff like Golden Axe I swear, or at least listen to the soundtrack for Golden Axe one and two specifically, as Hataya made the music for those games as well as the classic sonic songs for Forces and used the patches he used in Golden Axe in the Forces Soundtrack.
17:56 I don't understand this either, Senoue can do Classic Sonic music, if you don't think so then you're clearly uninformed. He did all of the music for the Genesis version of Sonic 3D Blast (coding and all) and did additional music tracks for Sonic 3, notably the gumball bonus stage track. The problem is that he can't seem to figure out how to replicate the same sound people know nowadays.
18:03 The only song Jun Senoe did for Origins was the Super Sonic theme, the replaced themes for those zones were discovered by MDTravis to be earlier versions of the songs from an earlier Sonic 3 beta from October 1993.
New Super Mario Bros. got local multiplayer. Besides why not Modern Sonic instead of Classic Sonic?

Now there is no online multiplayer in the game, there will be an online BATTLE MODE multiplayer, they confirmed this on the website, I have no idea what battle mode means or how it'll be but that's all I got for ya

superstars having scripted wall running would be dumb considering that advance 1 and 2 had wall running sections and they werent scripted, u could actually fall off if u stopped running
Yeah especially you could collect rings on the side which if it were scripted than having those rings up there would be pointless unless you're in control still.
