Flush once, grind using Varia VS3 and two hits of water spray, bottomless portafilter with IMS basket, WDT and normcore Distribution Tool and Spring loaded Tamper. I have the Breville Dosing Funnel for dosing the basket. I don't have to worry about milk steaming as I only drink long blacks. Every shot pulled in manual not auto. AUD $899 here in Australia, got mine for AUD$820.
I keep a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup with hot water from the microwave and heat my portafilter, reheating between use. Doing blank shots adds to the shot count for maintenance, shortening the time between cleanings. I also soften my own water, so I try to minimize blank shots down to the temperature stabilizer shot prior to extraction.
Lovely shot. Happy Holidays! Thanks for info on cleaning the wand tip. We have the express but is good to know the details if planning to upgrade. Thanks!
Oh, and i noticed that it doesn't matter how low or high i set the grinder size to. It always grinds the same consistency. Ugh! Im not happy with this coffee machine at all! I wish i could return it.
so you hate regular maintenance and the fact that you have to run blank shots to warm up porta filter.. got it lol i thought these were legitimate deal breaker concerns 😅
These machines are designed to NOT use a warm portafilter - hence the plastic insert. Their temperature curve takes the cold metal of the portafilter into consideration. If you preheat the portafilter, the extraction temps will be too high. The “Kaffeemacher” channel on UA-cam has a lengthy video on it where they explain the reasoning based on a meeting they had with the European arm of Breville (Sage).
No matter how I adjust the grinding and dosing, I can't get 30 sec. for the double shot auto mode, I can get just around 20 sec. What else should I try?
The back tray on mine never gets wet. But I had another issue, my cleaning disc, the rubber disc used in flushing, came with a hole in the middle. If your cleaning disc has a hole then flushing won’t work. I have contacted the Breville support and they are sending me another one without a hole for free.
Your channel about Breville Espresso machine is awesome. My Express BES860XL has just broken after 10 years. All Breville machines are 20% off actually. I'm hesitating between the Pro, the Express Impress and the Touch Impress. However, there are no pressure gauge on newest machines other than the Express...
I've had mine for a year now. Still have not been successful at brewing a shot like that. I've watched sooo many tutorials. I buy my beans from a local coffee toasters. Nothing! I've adjisted the inner grinder too. I send it back for a check up and the company said it passen the quality control. Bottom line. My shots are either over extracted or under extracted. I wish i could do a 101 video with someone who can watch my steps.
My #1 would be the 54 mm basket that's not compatible with all those 58 mm accessories. But yeah, after I while, I took that tool tray out from behind the drip tray, and just leave it at the side of the machine now.
After a lot of searching, based on my needs, I have concluded I want to purchase the Breville Barista Pro. I think I will wait for a good 'deal' - Thanksgiving or Christmas. If you come across a sale, can you please let me know?
I was going to go for the Pro but I changed my mind and kept my Barista Express. I still like the cup warmer and specially the pressure gauge to tell me if my grind size is right. I don’t care much about the warm up time ‘cause I turn on the machine before I take my shower in the morning. By the way, I’ve never used the built in grinder since I bought it ‘cause I have a Niche Zero grinder that is super fantastic. I’m afraid, when the time cones that my barista express breaks down, it will still have a brand new grinder.

I got my Barista Pro a month ago and have found your videos very helpful! Thank you!
How are you finding the white coating on the machine. Is it durable

Wondering how this worked out for you? A different you tuber stated he changed the inner to a 3 setting.

How is the white color ? Will it get scratched easily ? I’m debating on getting the sea salt vs. stainless steel.
I am also struggling between green and white. which one you chose? and how it. ?

Have you put the grinder on 4 internally? Changed alot for me
Thanks. I'll try.
Hi Hoon, how easy is to maintain the white colour ?
Would you happen to have a link for that small light you attached to the wand?

What would be your next upgrade from the baristas pro?
13:00 wouldn't just flushing it after each use enough instead of cleaning it?

For $800 I would save a little more and then get a profitec GO (that’s what I plan on getting in a couple years after I’m done with my bambino plus)
you will also need more for grinder....
@@petervansan1054 true but I already have a good grinder
What is the burr grind setting inside the machine?
That's what id like to know.
Can you change the tip 4 hole tip from the Pro to the Express?
One thing a hate about any grinder is hearing the rpm change,,, to me it indicate the motor struggle and will heat and brake.

58mm entry level is gaggia classic pro. I wish I get that one instead of breville
Thank you for steam tip cleaning.
