Um I never comment on here, but my trunk wasn't working so I replaced the trunk latch, checked the fuse that was good...then realized my rear brake light Fuze was blown, which is under the hood. It's a 15 Amp mini fuse. And boom! Taillights work, turn signal works and my trunk!

Sweet! Glad you figured out your problem. This one was intermittent. Work sometimes, then not other times but tail lights and signals always worked.

    Did you try another fuse?

Looks to me like a Positive trigger with ground at rest circuit. I would chase back to the latch. Check the ground and 12v pulse there. My 2 cents. Where's the Tim's?

Thanks for the ideas what to check next. Unfortunately someone offered to buy the car, so I grabbed the cash from his hands! As for the Timmies, I must have been sick that day?

Regarding wiring diagrams. I see that you live in Canada, like me. If you live in a province that has Part Source stores, they will print you a wiring diagram for free. If not, I have a subscription to Alldata DIY for my 2011 Impala. I can print a wiring diagram for you but wouldn't know how to get it to you. My Alldata subscription gives me access to all GM service data for my 2011 Impala. Worth every penny of the $30.00/per (USD) cost.

David, thanks so much for the offer. Car sold at end of August (2020), but yes the next time I am stuck, Alldata DIY will be the way to go as I think the closest parts source is either Regina or Winnipeg, Maybe Brandon. Did you see the issue I had with the trunk? Wiring diagram would have been great, since I didn't know where to start and the car had to go!

@@unclemarksdiyauto Yes, I watched the full video. Haven't run into that problem with my Impala but did have a failure of the rear window defogger on mine. I printed a wiring diagram and with some simple testing with just a test light was able to find a a connector which had a burnt area. Soldered in a jumper to bypass the connector to solve the problem. One of the great features of the Alldata subscription is the component location info. Without that, I wouldn't have been able to find the connector with the problem. It was actually located below the fuse panel you were working on in this video. Just had to remove some trim and pull up the carpet to access it.
