I love how HD can 'ruin' your childhood dream. As KITT drives over the beach you can see it is not a real car anymore, just a shell at 1:04 . I still love the show though :)
Thanks to Knight Rider Historians, I was able to identify several cars in this short. The car you saw speeding through the sand is the fliver car, which was a Volkswagen powered buggy with a trans am shell on it, then there was the back up to the hero car which they showed when Michael and April were driving away, the hero car which is what they got into as they started to drive away and then there were the miniature cars used for the stunts.
It's kind of the opposite. 35 years ago a lot of people watching this were kids. Now those kids are 40+ year adults that enjoy re-watching clips of their favorite show when they were a kid :)
Kirk's fighting style wasn't so ridiculous. He came from the Starfleet class of 2250 there or thereabouts. They are not going to have the same hand to hand fighting styles as we have today.
You think bog standard fighting styles would work against a Klingon or a Gorn?? They'd rip you to shreds! Captain Kirk's "ridiculous", I'd prefer to say unorthodox, fighting style makes him an MMA champion.
The car used at 1:03 was actually a jump car created out of a VW buggie and a molded rubber body, you can definitely tell the tires are a bit small and they stick in a little bit and there's some weird fender-to-tire clearance, they did some really cool tricks during the show's production.
When humans thank KITT himself, I get a little teary eyed. Usually only Michael gets the thanks, when KITT had to keep quiet originally, well in some scripts.

At 1:00 it's one of the cars used for jumps that is really more like a dune buggy with a body attached to resemble a Trans Am. Neat to see it driving as we normally only see it ramping. Hardcastle and McCormick used a similarly constructed jump car of the Coyote. The miniature KITT looks better than I remember driving on the water. They had to treat the water with something so the splashes/drops would be smaller and look more correctly scaled
The best thing about this episode is that KITT HAS ALWAYS HAD AN AQUATIC SYNTHESIZER (they just never used it).
