Fieldsports Britain - Flash-bang foxing
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 січ 2025
- With the first silage cut in Devon, Tom Davies is hitting the foxes hard, using a clever trick with his IR lamp. We’re off to beautiful Halston Hall in Shropshire for a fabulous simulated game day with our prizewinner. Airgun master Terry Doe is teaching young Reece Chart the importance of trigger technique and follow-through. Cai Ap Bryn is cooking a summer BBQ favourite - bumper-sized venison burgers with a Weschenfelder twist. Plus we’re giving away a squirrel feeder, David has the news on the news stump, and James brings you the best hunting videos on UA-cam in Hunting UA-cam. It’s all in this week’s #fieldsportsbritain

Hi Tom,
Your IR issue is 'cos you are using an 850nm illuminator.... if you use a 940nm illuminator foxes will come in to 50m or less....Simples
Try the Nightfox illuminator which is switchable between the two and dim-able....best thing i bought 🙂
The thing you have to remember is that a fox has vision that is much more sensitive to light in general than human eyesight (although with much poorer colour vision), and is fully dark-adapted whereas our vision, from being in a car looking at glowing instrument panels and headlights and whatnot is not fully dark adapted. Then there's the fact that 850 nm IR illuminators are actually quite easy to see at night, even with human eyes. As an aside, this is why if you're putting up CCTV illuminators you always use 850 nm ones, so the scroats can see that there's CCTV.
Change to 940 nm illuminators for night vision and nothing much will react, since these are truly beyond the visual range of both foxes and humans. The downside is that our CCD devices also struggle, so you have to use more power to get the light to a useful level.
There is a ray of light on the horizon, though. A company in the USA called Obsidian have a new and much cheaper thermal sensor array in development; this when it comes out ought to decrease the cost of thermal kit, if they will but licence the usual suspects to produce it in bulk.
Thanks 👍🏻
I used NV for three years but i noticed that sometimes the Fox would run when i put the IR on, so i went to full thermal. It feels like I’m cheating but it gets the job done 👍🏼🏴.
Best thing on youtube great content

@@fieldsportstvThank you very much.
If we had all stuck together when the hunting ban was being debated and we didn’t. We might be in a strong position now but as I found out when going around the country during the run up to the ban . I found fishermen saying they disagree with hunting dogs and some of the shooting community so divide we will fall.
Yes and the same thing is going to happen in Australia. We think it will never happen but it is only a matter of time before all private ownership of firearms will be banned and it is the firearm owners fault because they will continue to vote as their parents and grandparents have always done. They need to realise that the major political parties are all the same when it comes to shooting and firearms.
Hi Charlie, how about a film report on all the house building, solar panels etc being built on good quality farm land especially here in Essex and all over the country! Just a suggestion. Great show as usual! 👍🇬🇧🏴
Those in parliament are globalists and don’t want our country to be feed by our farmers but want to control the UKs food supply and therefore have control by fear of the peasants.
Thanks - that's the kind of story we're covering in Farming Britain. / Charlie
Please can you stop playing music during the news. I want to hear what’s said !!
