    he was a huge fan of the first two Evil Dead movies and they inspired his lyrics a lot and he probably would have loved Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness, but never got to see it.

    Thank you so, so, so much for compiling all of this.
    Per "Dead" Ohlin is really special to me and I love him very very much, which is probably weird to say about someone I never knew, but that's how I feel. To be honest, his experience resonates with me a lot; I'm not exactly a mentally or emotionally stable person myself, and whenever people find out that I have an extensive self-harm habit or that I legitimately believe I'm deceased, it usually scares them off. The fact that Dead saw himself as dead too is something I take this sort of weird comfort in, because it's a really specific symptom that most people can't relate to or understand, but knowing that Dead experienced the same thing is comforting to me, even though he met an extremely unfortunate end. The fact that he was able to take what he must have found very difficult to live with and make something distinct and constructive with it gives me the hope that maybe I can, too.
    And his situation living out in the woods with the other members of Mayhem really, REALLY resonates with me because I was once actually in an extremely similar situation that also being isolated in a house in the woods with only a few other people there (just replace "bandmates" with "family" and instead of exploiting me for musical output, they did essentially the same with writing). I didn't learn about Dead or black metal until after I'd gotten out of that situation for good, and I'm so glad I didn't learn about him before because I think I would have killed myself the exact same way Dead did (there were a lot of guns in the house and it wouldn't have been hard to wait until I was alone there to carry through with it). My life is very different now, and I'm doing the things I actually want to do (I didn't really like writing but now I'm making music) and I'm still mentally fucked but it isn't in the same kind of setting as I was before. Pelle did not get the chance to live like I do now, and he deserved to have been able to. Whenever my suicidal urges are stronger than usual, I can fight them by saying "No, I can't do that, I have to keep doing this for Pelle." I know it's weird to have one of your biggest reasons for living be related to a person you never knew, but that's how it is with me. If he were still alive, he would probably be making his music and drawing those morbid ink drawings he did. That's basically what I do now, and I'm doing those things because he can't.
    Pelle I love you a lot, a LOT, I miss you and I wish you were still in this world and I wish you were still creating things. I miss you so much even though we weren't even alive at the same time so maybe that's weird but that's how I feel. I know you wouldn't have liked the music I'm making but I'm doing my own equivalent of what you would be doing if you could. I wish there were more of your music out there. I love every single song you were ever on with Morbid or Mayhem because you're on it. I wish you knew that you were absolutely wrong when you wrote "Life Eternal", because yes, someone WILL miss you, and they do! I'm one of them! And so are most of the people in the comments here! I wish there had been more of you left when you were dead but there is at least one person making things that will stay in the world and they are doing it because of you. There's at least one person who constantly always wants to die but who decides not to because of you! I know a lot of people might view your legacy as being that of the church burnings and the murders and the other bad stuff that came out of the music you were doing but your legacy is also in this weird and unwell individual who nevertheless keeps being alive. It's a tiny, tiny legacy but it's very real. I love you.
    (God this comment got long. It's also creepy as shit, probably. And of course a dead man can't read that paragraph where I was addressing him directly. I just have a lot of feelings. I know that lots of people have feelings about Dead. I don't know how many people's lives have been this positively and profoundly affected by his. Consider this comment documentation of the fact that Pelle touched at least one person's life this much. I don't know if anyone else feels like that about him. I just want to be able to have it known that even after death this is what he's done for at least one person's life and that this guy called Dead is the reason someone is alive.)

    At 9.46 It's said that he called himself Goat after the band. I'm pretty shure it was the oposite. Per Ohlin used to have a goat skull on his moped in the lower teenage, wich gave him the local nick name "Geten" ("The Goat"). Probably he bringed that to his first band.

    the poor animal incident from Bathory's point of view (source: Bathory official site): One Swedish fan decided to get the band a present, but obviously didn't have the knowledge how to actually mail something, so he decided to leave the parcel by the door to the office building where the record company was then situated.And he couldn't think of anything more suitable to get the band than a decapitated kitten or whatever it now was.

    Grown up in the same neighbourhood I've met him at least once, around 1985 or -86.
    I've found one fault in this documentary: The school showed at 6.26-6.43 is the old school in Tungelsta, not the one PYO went to. The actually school is passed by the car (right side) at 0.42-0.53.

    Pelle's family reminds me of mine, no wonder he was psychotic...They
    "LOVED" him but didn't know him and respect him and as Jorn sais they didn't know shit in the end.
    Euronimous was an asshole(given his image he wouldn't mind being called the asshole of all assholes) , he and Pelle were getting on each other's nerves. But the question is: if Pelle could see what happened after he died what would he find more repulsive- fragments of his scull turned into necklaces or a funeral in a chirch, "I am sailng" and "Imagine"?!?!Please people...

    • @silverg9062
      @silverg9062 2 роки тому +4

      Both of them, in my opinion. A "friend" who used fragments of his brain to make necklaces and the funeral for him in a church. Also, Pelle would have hated to see that Euronymous was cooking pieces of his brain to eat and that sent a piece of his skull in the mail. Furthermore, considering the kind of guy Pelle was, he would have hated that friends and family suffered from his disappearance (what he wanted) and that they would go and bring him flowers on his grave (even those who wouldn't help him when he was alive), in my opinion...

    • @totozviara
      @totozviara 2 роки тому +3

      A frend Euronimous was not. Love and frendship were illusions for that particular crowd. Well, using fragments of your scull seems repulsive, but frankly, pretending you care when you don't, seems worse. Black metal and thrash are much into hate for hipocricy.

    I still believe Euronymous pulled the trigger. The whole thing was a perfect setup. There was ample time to execute it all. From what I was told by reputable sources at that actual times and deductive throught logic of my own knowing, FACY; Dead cut himself. But not too deep as he had many times before. Typical Cutters stuff. Wishing death and then changing one's mind is common. Especially from someone who had been legally dead . Again I speak from personal knowledge there as well. Anyway , When last I spoke to Pelle, we spoke of possibilities to visit & tour the US. He was in good spirits. Euronymous was always a jerk and ultimately screwed that whole idea up. So, Dead and Euronymous had been fighting bad for weeks. Euronymous was treating Dead extra bad . He had cut him deeper than Dead had ever cut himself, resulting in hospital visits. Euronymous was jealous that dead got the most attention . He complained how that it was his band and therefore should be the center of attention. So euronymous would often tell Dead to just kill himself and threatened to kill him on many occasions in front of many witnesses. Dead was talking about leaving. He had other opportunities. On Deads final day, Euronymous tried to get into his head and push him over the edge once again and left. I think Pelle had a Moment of clarity after cutting himself. Again not deep enough to be detrimental. Those wounds were all clotted at his time of death mind you. So, I think when Euronymous came back in and saw him, he finally did Dead in. The positioning of the gun to the head, the angle of the splatter, the colors, even as some stories say he had time to go to town to buy a camera then come back and take those photos. Also the changing in handwriting and add ons to the so-called suicide note. Then the amount of time that passed before the police even came out. And again , they were only called by someone that your Euronymous had told the next day. It just all does not add up to me or many others that i spoke to at that time. Varg states many speculated Euronymous killed Dead. Yet surprisingly at one moment thinks that out of town and open Window Theory to be true . Too convenient. But, What a better story? It was spead that Dead was obsessed with death. Euronymous was searching for something push the band over the top. He got enough time to screw with the crime scene and explain away any questioning and then exploit it for all it was worth and some. Many believed that Euronymous killed Dead at the time. But Euronymous spreading stories and photos and pieces of bone all around made it difficult for anyone to look into the story deeper, much less grieve appropriately. Since the band had a bad reputation, the police could not even care. It's all so sad. Then to plot to torture and murder Varg, another horror story. So, Euro gets caught off guard and attacks Varg but winds up stabbed & cut up *mostly by glass may I add, yet Varg is demonized and maximum sentence for murder. He left all his weapons in the car. He wasn't really sure. He did not know him that well. He knew he was unstable. Varg was five years younger, barely out of his teens and newer to the area and all, so just really wasnt sure. But ready to defend as needed. so why I cannot believe the sentencing. Then again with all the hype Euronymous made up and about church burnings. It's no wonder the police crucified any member they could. I know some defunked churches got burned by them but credit was taken on many aspects to build reputations. Euronymous was one of the biggest Posers and so many all said it. After his death many tried to capitalize on it. Though not as bad & gruesome as what he did to Dead. R i p Pelle

    Good information and the life story of Pelle Ygve Ohlin (Dead). RestInPower.. I hate that bastard Euronymous Oystein. Bad karma for him. Jorn Necrobutcher is he true friends.

      I believe Pelle and Necro should have left the band perminatlly and form another band or reform Morbid and let Mayhem fall apart. I miss the dude. He was a great talent and from what I hear a great guy. Rest In Peace Pelle. Long live the legend. I hope you found peace.
