This is episode 2 of a new series I'm experimenting with, TRAIL TESTED! I thought it'd be a fun way to bring you along for my very first run in brand new gear and give you my first impressions. Of course, these are just initial impressions so there will be plenty of more miles to come in the gear as I test it further and a full, comprehensive review should be coming to the channel soon. Are you excited for the new Saucony Endorphin Edge and the Nike Pegasus Trail 4? Let me know in the comments below!
Thank you Darin for the camera assist!

Having a ton of fun with the new Trail Tested series. The Endorphin Edge and Pegasus Trail 4 are solid choices for today’s episode - what do you think? Do either interest you?
I bought the Edge for my son to use for XC. I hope they are a good choice for his rocky trails.
The Peg 4 Trail was available with a big discount over here last week so I bought a pair. After my first 3 runs in them I immediately ordered a second pair ... they are really good!
Enjoyed the video! I’m curious, what type of handheld water bottle did you use in this video?
@@reneamadorjr it’s an amphipod handheld
Running footage + real-time reactions to the shoes + "weeeeeeee" = please keep bringing more of this format :)
You got it!
“The Pegasus trail has ahhhhh low branches!” Classic trail problem there haha
Loving the new format.
Off topic, but these trails are so beautiful!
Lovely music in this one!
God I love running.
I kinda wanna move out to your area after seeing how beautiful these trails are
That was fun as hell! As someone who is always looking for that wheeeee! moment AND being obsessed with Saucony, I'll be checking out that Endorphin Edge. Room in the toe box with the heel lock sounds cool too.
I greatly appreciate this format. thanks!
This was excellent!!
Keep these up !
Those trails tho… so beautiful! And your joy was palpable :)
Love this series!
Enjoyable review, appreciated 👍🏻
This format is 🔥🔥🔥
That brook is my favorite part of Section Line too! Great format - the first reactions are gold
I love this new series. Please keep doing them!
Love this content !!
Love this format! It's an easy-watch, more entertaining than the studio shoe reviews (which I do love too!) Off topic: Any idea when GRGR will be this year? I've been anticipating an announcement. 😊
October! Should be announcing more in next week or two!
@@TheGingerRunner 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love these reviews! Much appreciated - greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
Ah just loved every moment of that. Such gorgeous trails. Thank you!
need more videos like this please
Yaay! A Pegasus Trail 4 review. LOVE those shoes.
I love these TRAIL TESTED videos! Impressive camera work on while running on trails!
This is an awesome review and sets you apart from all the rest! Keep it up ❤️
I want more TRAIL TESTED! Love the vlog format.
First time seeing one of your videos. Nice job. Great location and you have a strong voice. Subscribed!!!!
Weird that I never subscribe to your channel before, great reviews!!
This is such a refreshing style! Absolutely love it! (Great colour grading as well!)
Wow, this video is perfect. Incredibly well done, entertaining, informative, and beautiful.
Love this concept I think you inadvertently captured the joy of trail running the peace and quiet the smell and freedom & of course new shoes 😁
Nice format! that Saucony looks dope.
Loving the Trail Tested videos! Hi from 🇿🇦
This video really blew my mind. Thanks for such a thoughtful way of doing shoes reviews. I really enjoyed it.
Really enjoyable review, loving the new take on shoe testing. The scenery was breathtaking, I'm having a great time running the trails in the UK this summer in my Speedgoat 5's. Keep up the brilliant work GR!!
I love these videos. I find them really useful. I love the first-impression, because when I put the shoes the first time - that's what I will have. So seeing the future review will be very useful.
Ideally, I'd love more back to back comparisons (ideally same trail - though I appreciate the weather this time!)
Love the format, your commentary and honest approach to the shoes as your out there is a real winner. But your approach and passion for the trails and the beauty around you is amazing, completely unique to any review I've come across.
I've come to watch reviews for my first trail shoe purchase, I've come away with a bit of a mindset change to soak up the beauty around me, rather than running past trails to trudge around road loops worried about time, pace and heart rate.
Love this review format. The greenery is unbelievable! - jealous San Diegan here.
YES!! Excited to see the next episode with two shoes I’m really interested in. I love the Xodus Ultra so am curious about the Endorphin Edge. I’ll probably wait for the full review given early indications on grip and fit. Brave move going down Cableline in the rain in a new pair of shoes 😂 Curious also about the Peg 4 Trail grip and how that upper turns out. Love the Tracksmith jacket cameo too. Great work on this series!!
Love this content! Thanks for the real time feedback. Also impressed that you did an actual run and not just some strides or spot testing. Very curious about the Peg bc I loved the first Pegasus Trail but the recent ones have felt way different and the fit was so bulky for my foot.
This video was so entertaining. Great job filming & editing 👏 Happy Monday!
Cheers!
Best line: "pile of dog ****, cool"
interested in both these shoes... thanks for testing!
Loving trail tested the Nike pegasus trail 4 look interesting but I think the colour needs a bit of work.
Yeah, pretty boring. Agreed
You really got something here with this new format. Love it! Also super useful from a consumer perspective. Thank you!
Glad you’re digging it!
it's a dream to have a trail shoe carbon plated here in Brazil. 😍
Now each pair needs to be run over by the suv to test their durability. Enjoying your shoe tests! Saucony has been on 🔥with their offerings .
Beautiful route!
This format is dope. I always wanted to suggest a first impression for shoes with a follow-up after __ amount of miles.
After your goofy “shoe review” April Fools…the thought dawned on me. Keep it coming.
I've been excited for you to talk about the Peg trail 4 for a little while now. I love that shoe! I think it's the best road to trail shoe I've ever worn. I was very curious what your opinion would be.
It really is a solid road -> trail shoe, I agree probably the best yet. Does both well without compromise
thanks for the Saucony first impression - would love a head to head with the Xodus Ultra .. think they might be the Saucony trail option for me
Awesome content 👏 please more videos of Ethan running and like this…. Oh and the comparisons are cool too 😎
Great vid haha. Such beautiful trails. I wish Saucony would change up their outsole/rubber cause I really don't trust my Peregrines on wet rocks. Vibram Megagrip is ridiculously better
FYI: Nike did change the rubber on these. (Unfortunately on the Zegama they didn't 🤷♂)
Loving the trail tested series!! I’d like to see a comparison or shoe battle between the saucony endorphin and the Hoka Tecton x. It would be interesting to compare the 2
Nice format and keep up the good work! Btw1; you have soo easy trails compared to Sweden ;) .. almost no roots! :D Btw2; you should try/review a shoe from VJ Sport (finnish company). That will give you another level of grip due to their butyl rubber compound.
AWESOME trail footage…. Initial impression which one would ya choose?? 👍🏼
Pretty different uses, both are offering some perks depending on terrain and I’m enjoying them differently!
Keep this format coming! How is the stability, easy to roll an ankle? I love my Hoka Tectons, very stable. Would love to see a comparison
More stable than anticipated, but I can see how the platform can be an issue, but staying quick and nimble helps with staying up on the plate for rigidity
@@TheGingerRunner thanks!
Really like this style; it’s different from the videos I usually watch from you. Could definitely use video stabilization though.
Great video! Have you gotten your pair of Nike Zegama yet? Looking forward to that review!
They are heavy and the wet grip sux.
I like them for short runs because they are bouncy and feel like road shoes but because they are so cushion and bouncy I get carried away and start bombing the downs which then catches up with me by 30km or so. Out of all nike trail shoes I have tried they are my fav but I am not a big fan of nike trail. Upper is fantastic fit but also agree grip not vibram
As soon as I saw rain, I predicted the Nike’s were going to rival an ice skate.
Hi, loving these type of reviews. It’s great to see how the shoes perform on a variety of surfaces.
Can you please tell me what shoes you were wearing before you slipped on the Saucony Endorphin Edge, they looked really comfortable, we’re they some kind of recovery shoe.
Just some casual Toms!
Thanks, appreciate the reply, really looking to more reviews.
There's only one brand that grips wet rocks, and that's VJ. You should try them out!
Altra Lone Peak 6 anddd something else!
Problem is the speedgoats set an almost unreachable standard for grip in a trail shoe, leaving most others feeling slippery in comparison. You can almost hang from the ceiling like a bat in the speedgoat outsoles.
See TNF Eminus review - new standard for me!
I am psyched for the new mafate speed 4
All the Wee and Phew-Phews make me curious w/o needing to hear any stats or verdicts
Love to see the Peggy Trail Gore btw
To be faaaaaiiirrrrr...
I was waiting for someone to hear it! haha
To be faaaaaiiiirrrr! 🤣
Hi, are you gonna test nike zoomx zegama any time soon?
i don't know if it's because of my foot shape but when i 1st run on my nike trail 4's my heel got wounded hmmmm .. or maybe coz it's new and stiff?
btw i envy your trails hahaha so beautiful!
The heel, like along the achilles? Hmm, haven’t had that issue at all yet.
@@TheGingerRunner yes achilles .. maybe cause of my running/walking style lol .. ill try using it again on thursday and try to update if it's still the same .. ty
Wet squish = extra cushion?
Curious what you think of the endorphin edge in comparison to the Hoka Tecton X? I'm racing the pikes peak marathon in September and need something that will handle the technical down's better than my speedgoat 5's. Awesome video as always! Keep it up man.
Tecton X will probably be more stable, but loses some of its cushioning faster. The Endorphin will be super fun but the durability is lacking.
@@TheGingerRunner thanks so much buddy!
I like the tecton x more than the speedgoat myself. I find it's more comfortable after 30-40km. The fit is a bit weird with the lacing so try them on if you can.
Also the Salomon pulsar is a really great carbon shoe if you are not a hoka exclusive person
@@shaec.3581 I appreciate it! Yeah I was looking at the pulsar too. I ended up getting the edge and like them a lot so far!
Whats the differances with the sizes?
Saucony Endorphins dog sh*t tested and approved!
Is that in Wisconsin
Can we call the camera “camberley”?
Haha, perfect - though his name is Darin 😂
Is the camera person running backwards?!
Major issue with the Sauconys. Narrow heal, bouncy foam = sprained ankles. Fast, but painful on anything but trails with no rocks or roots. So, pavement.
Great format! Please repeat.
But those trails are totally unrelatable, perfectly manicured with hardly an exposed stone or root, why would anyone need a trail shoe there?
Come run Tiger Claw and bring your road flats!
@@TheGingerRunner thanks for replying. I guess I just envy the flow you got on those trails😀
Is your camera person a Sasquatch?!?
I didn't think that I would like theTrail tested video formats. I do, I do like it! It's great to see your reaction in real time. There's joy for the good and a hearty " bummer" for the bad. Well done!
