Am taking down my bike now because about two months back i did what your cousin do to your bike.... on a long dirt road running against a honda 650 lol......yes the rm 250 was in front :)
i am totally rebuilding my 97 rm250. i should get the crank and rod today. because my rod was out of spec. and i should get my repaired and nikasiled cylinder in about a week. CANT WAIT! woot. new plastics and new custom graphics. new throttle/clutch levers and cables. rebuilding carb. v force 3 reeds. port and polish ports.grips. sprocket chain. pegs. bar. oh yea....she gonna be dam near new
Cool , can't believe you took the engine out for a TE , Lol.. at least you got to wash the frame... it's awkward but if you get the piston as low as possible it will work.. oh well soldier on... ha
Normally you don't have to. But once you have the cylinder sleeved it takes away the gradual tapper at the bottom of the jug making it hard for the rings to compress naturally. The sleeves tapper is a lot sharper. Better to be safe then take the chance of bending a ring.
Hey man please help me I have the same bike I just I had it was all rebuilt I put all back together I can seem to find we’re to run the rad hose to the top of the head I have it Thru the split in the frame like yours at 3:52 in your video but my gas tank crushes it
Ok, I brought a used 96'RM250 30 days ago and I'm having a few serious problems & need some help/advice. 2 weeks ago I just started my first cleaning far as my carb & air filter. I was trying to set EVERYTHING correct much as possible. Sometimes it runs good and sometimes it doesn't. I also just repacked the pipe 2 days ago and took it for a ride which it sounded find but it was still blowing out oil from the exhaust & pipe. Today I repacked it again to make it a little thicker to see if that will help in cutting down on the oil leak. Today it also shut off and will not kick over for any reason. It was blowing out thick white smoke & making pop sounds than died. I changed the spark plug because it was dark with dark oil around it. Once the plug was changed it kicked over running strong for 10 minutes than back to that thick white smoke & pop sounds. Running rich or lean I actually have no clue if I am and how. Doing a compression test I have no idea hw that works. So, should I just get myself a new Top End Kit or what should I do before deciding a new top end? Thanks
+Yasin Abdul Yeah, sounds like the bike is giving to some problems. Sounds like your base gasket is blown. Bike is sucking in oil into the jug. I would do new top end and replace all gaskets just to be same. Pistons are fairly cheap.
+HARD ENDURO Yes sir, I just placed an order online for mostly everything I should need and I will take it to a mechanic for them to install it for me. Thanks
How much did it cost you to get your cylinder sleeved? I have a 1995 RM 250 and I'm also rebuilding the top end I've ordered everything new wiesco top end kit and a LA Sleeve Cylinder sleeve. I was just wondering the cost of them putting the sleeve in the cylinder.
+iLL Beatz Sorry so late response. I think it cost me $250 for the Sleeve + Piston. I mailed it out and they mailed it back to me. Bike runs awesome after this rebuild. still on same top end to date.
You should NOT sleeve cylinder. You are basically going back in time like what 30 years when cylinders were sleeved... You should have re plated it... Nice rebuild thou!
You dont follow the suzuki owners manual i see...the PROPER mixture is 30:1 not 40:1 thats why your blowing engines ,you dont follow guild lines set out by the manufacturer. These guildlines are set for a reason ! FOLLOW THEM != You stop blowing engines and blaming it on someone else.
Joe Neault you have no clue what you are talking about. Those ratios are from years ago. Any racer will tell you 30:1 is WAY to rich. If you use a good oil 40:1 is spot on. I've owned 2 strokes for over 20 years and never had issues. This bike blew up because he was riding at hwy speeds for long periods. Get a clue before you decide to troll on my page.
30 years maybe 30 years ago? 32:1 and 40:1 are perfect for these bikes. Put some good oil in good grade gas and keep your coolant full and you'll get 150hrs+ on these pistons and rings. Gtfo troll
my bike got rebuilt by some dude and he said to use 40:1 because I told him I just started riding but he must've thought I would ride slow and not in the power band so I checked My piston after about 20 hours and it was getting some lines on it so I started using 32:1 and now its fine I use 93 octane sunoco with vp octane booster and maxima 927 I checked it and it looks the same and all the bearings look oiled up haha
How to break in a 2-stroke:
1. Get it up to operating temp.
2. Ride the piss outta it

Great bike have one just like it just done top end with Wisco pro lite piston kit doomed style with more compression it's now a beast

Hy hello what color code did you use for the frame?
Sorry I don’t remember
@@HardEnduro8 OK

Oh ok . I've never had anything sleeved , always replated or replaced..that would drive me nuts lol
First kick??? Hell tfk ya gotta love a 2 stroke awesome.

What company did you have sleeve and get you a piston?
RPJ performance in New Jersey did it for me. I think he purchased the sleeve from LA sleeve.
Question can a 98 rm250 cylinder fit a 01 rm250 bottom end
No
You should NOT sleeve cylinder. You are basically going back in time like what 30 years when cylinders were sleeved... You should have re plated it...
Nice rebuild thou!
+Jussi L i have an 87 kx 250 and put a 91 kx 250 cylinder on it it was a killer price took some doin but its done it runs fukin mint
+Kevin Stearns it had been sleeved!!!!!!!
When you sent it out to get sleeved did you have to remove the whole power valve Assembly
No, not at all. Engine builder did it all for me.
How long did u take to put the engine in??
GREASElover32 prob 25 minutes.
only if you lived around me haha show me how to rebuild motors
Did your cousin split the cost , or pay for everything. I would've been pissed!!
Yeah. I was pissed at first. I made him pay me back with work around the house, car washes, etc. Good learning experience for him.
How much did you end up spending for all the parts?
McCutch88 only about $240 for sleeve and $120 piston and rings.
Yea lets put oil on the gaskets so they can get squeezed out when we torque the bolts down... Smh
Oil does not squeeze out. Didn’t say drench in oil, lightly coat only. Makes gasket work %100 the way it’s intended.
It's 32:1 always. smh
opticonica not always. Ive had some bikes where running 40:1 ran better, sounded better, and looked great from the top of the piston and plug

I have no clue??? realy is that why i raced endro for over 30yrs ! whatever stupid
I ride 40:1
