Im not interested in college. And am thinking of focusing on improving my art. So once I do that, I want to save up money to purchase webtoon tools I need to make some good ones. Please stay with me. I have really nice storylines already! ❤
Nowadays the college diploma only helps you to get a job in a big studio but doesn't mean you can not get the same job without a diploma, for big studios the more important is your skills and the offer you a job based on your experience and portfolio, my advice is to write those stories because the more important element in a comic is the story, then try to get at less a potato computer, invest time learning free software the 2 I recommend you are BLENDER 3D+MEDIBANG both free software, how I work is very simple after around a year investing my free time in both software I become a 3d modeler, then I create my scenes in blender, I render it, import it to medibang and do the inking coloring and add text dialogues. now I can afford it I have a pen display tablet but I started with a second-hand Wacom Intuos I buy for $20 in a thrift store, now I am learning 2d and 3d animation because I already succeed as comic artist and my dream now is to animate my story, but the more important you need to understand is you need to start or you will never finish
This is really great. I use Clip Studio Paint for my comic, "God's Lost Mercy." And when I started off my comic it was originally on Manga Studio 5, but then as soon as I switched I was able to access to more options and tools that helped me to make a cleaner comic.
You should note that Medibang also has a cloud saving feature which is REALLY useful. Me and my friend use the ability to share cloud files on medibang to create our webcomic “Parallel Passings”. I do characters and she does backgrounds, while we both do the drafts. Having this built in feature really saves a lot of time from sending files and etc.
Im currently creating a story which I've been doing for 4 months now. Im so committed and every page takes me about 4 hours since my "anime style" is pretty realistic. Im so scared no one will like the story but, i have hopes. its really unique
These are awesome tips! I used to use MedibangPaint Pro and it’s really simple software for beginners. Huion is also a good alternative for hardware if you can’t afford Wacom. I am using Huion H640P Inspiroy, and it’s really good! I hope we will get another Webtoon contest soon! It doesn’t matter if it’s involve money. As long as creators will get a chance to be discovered and featured. Haha. To my dear discover creators, Let’s work hard! 🤗💪
The tablet: realme C2 The stylus: a pen with rubber edge The software: ibispaint X The panels: just 5 of them per page (pixels max 😭) The drawer: a student The talent: the hand Welcome to my simple, happy, yet cheap life 😀
I use Clip Studio for most of my projects now, but I highly recommend Autodesk Sketchbook. Both the desktop and mobile apps are free and very easy to use. I actually prefer using it over CSP for one of my webtoons because of the guide tools and the Copic color library.
Exactly what I was hoping to find: a great tutorial on what is available, how it is used, and references to tutorials on each option. I am strictly a penciler, but I have purchased old Macs and Creative Suites for them, drawing tablets, scanners, and the like, but I don't know how to use them. Watching this video makes me feel like I can get there, despite the intimidation of the unknown. Thank you for the awesome (and inspiring) video!
For my comic, I use a Wacom Intuos - a drawing tablet without a digital screen. You can get one for under $100. It might be a little small, and it's a rough learning curve, but I've had (my medium-sized one) for over 3 years and put in probably 200+ hours, and it still holds up. I have to replace the pen nib every once in a while, but they always come with extras. I draw in Photoshop (tbh it's super pricey, but it's a great tool). Whatever you use to draw, do your best! Don't give up! Get your story out there. Even when it takes forever to draw, or you feel like nobody's looking at your content, you'll feel so much better if you just keep making the thing! Enjoy making art, and make art because you enjoy it.You can do this!
I just discovered Webtoon and I am amazed by the opportunity of publishing independet comics. I can't wait to have a place where I can share some stories
You want the talent? It's simple just like buying the tools Buying the tools: -Hardwork at job -Earn the money -Automatically buy the tools Talents: -Hardwork at practice -Earn the knowledge about drawing -Automatically have a talent for drawing The point is DON'T BE LAZY 🙌🏼😁
absolutely agreed with you, is kryta and medibang as well, I use clip studio paint but before I used kryta and medibang and being honest use photoshop for comic creation is extremely awful, I used in a studio I was working for and is the worst software I ever used for draw comics
Theres also paint tool sai but it's a program created for illustrations so you would need to draw the panels on your own, but besides that its a good program :D
I already started my own comic called Clown's Joke and honestly the community is best great so far in this website, thank you webtoons for creating such a great place to post comics!
@@starlight9333 oh I love my word font, but don't recommended it, it fits into my aeshtetic's comic I think, but it's not that visible and it's very thin, I use : Courier New and NsimSun
Hi everyone, thank you so much for making these tips and tools videos. I started my comic "BIG TINY LIFE" on webtoon/Discover about 4 months ago. I use a wacom intuos tablet and Painter 2019 software. I also use a free online software- Canva to re-format the comic for Instagram. Thanks again...can't wait for more videos.!
It is good?? I've been using Krita too but I draw with mouse on Windows... im planning on buying Huion too.. But some says Krita crash a lot on Windows.. is it? Is it bcuz it connected to the drawing tablet??
I use Procreate on my iPad pro with the Apple Pencil. I also do A LOT traditionally and I have a scanner. I'm so excited to eventually publish my comic on Webtoon and I hope people will like it aaaahhhh!!
Someone else commented it too but I also recommend Krita as a free PC program. I wasn't ready or able to spend money on Photoshop and Krita is very very similar in a lot of ways. It's got a pretty easy to learn interface that helps keep you from being overwhelmed with learning a new program and has plenty of tutorials on youtube and their official site. Good luck to everyone just hoping to get into art and those who are hoping to put out some webtoons! I've been planning 2 webtoons for like 3 years now and I have no idea when I'll actually be able to make them 😭
I'm Buurd and im the creator of Ketchup ^^ my current set up uses a wacom cintiq 13HD and clip studio paint! I switched to CSP last year from photoshop and really love it! It also goes on sale every few months and is a one time purchase, so its a nice alternative to photoshop. Free programs such as medibang or fire alpaca would probably be good free options as well. For tablets I started out with a wacom bamboo for my first few years of digital art, before making the upgrade to a cintiq when I realised I wanted to do art more seriously and long term.
I've been working on my comic for 3 years now and am going to launch it on webtoon soon. I've never used Huion or had the pleasure of owning a cintiq(hope to own one one day🐱) but my tablet is an XP-Pen 22 e pro artist screen tablet. I've been using XP-Pen products for years as a budget option. It works well and hasn't steared me wrong.
My setup is CSP with a samsung notebook 9 pro and staedtler stylus . . . kinda odd but works well for me and its easy to travel with it. I also have a second monitor and a mug warmer (very important).
I do all of my linework for The Botanist traditionally with brush and ink (and a few pens). Then I color and format everything in Clip Studio Paint, literally like the best art program in the world. I really recommend it to other artists, and the program often goes on sale so look out for that!
i used to draw digitally with a wacom intuos, and a nice free computer software is firealpaca. it is limited in comparison to softwares like photoshop, but if you’re a beginner, i found that it was pretty easy to pick up (especially with online tutorials)
don't give up I did the same I year ago and today I have an ipad Air 4 and apple pencil second generation if you really like drawing save and invest it's worth it.
let them judge you, and don't care of their judgment at all, because I am a very old man and can tell you NONE of them will be part of your life in a decade and NONE of them will feed you, you need to find your own ways in life for yourself and for your family, and the cruel truth is: IS ONLY ONE PERSON YOU CAN BE CERTAIN WILL BE WITH YOU IF YOU ARE STILL ALIVE IN A DECADE AND THAT ONE IS YOU, then the only important is YOU and what you want to do with your life, NONE can live your life for you and life is always changing you get to succeed as you fail, but the more important Is to know and understand if you do nothing you already failed and if you do and fail you just need to stand up and keep going
Don’t worry about them! I had the same fear, of being judged by my friends and especially family, but I’m doing it anyway. I’m really glad I am! If they dont like it, tell them just not to read it then. If webtoon is a chapter in your life your passionate about doing, than go for it!!!! Worst case scenario, you get some bad opinions and a whole lot of new artistic experience!
Dipsticks Had a life. Art. Pretty sure it’s eaither voted on, read by a pretty important person in the company and determined or some sort of competition I’m not sure but I do remember from last year a lot were moved up from an app other then webtoon I forgot what it was called I think “discover”? And if they get featured there voted/read or compete and pass they go on to become featured on webtoon, I think discover is another branch of webtoon, I AM NOT 109% of all of this it’s what I THINK based on my experience of seeing new creators move in others move and ya.
in discover what you need is to upload regularly to be in the top of the search page of your comic genre that's the importance to set the right genre and a secondary genre and do it seriously because will determine how much exposure and success you will gain, are genres with less competition than others, webtoon is invaded by foolish naive romance slice of life stories because the platform is used by millions of young ladies that likes that kind of stories, then if you go for action or sci-fi you will have less competition but also less user interested on your story, but pretending you did all well and reach a good amount of followers then WEBTOON will offer you a contract, each contract is personalized and one of the clauses absolutely banned you to share the information of how much you are getting paid, you need to sit down read carefully the contract and make a decision, my advice don't try to get greedy, when they give you an offer you are not the only one in the scope, with my GF we both get an offer at same time, she in romance genre I got it in ACTION/SCI FI she asked for more money while I just took it, they said no to her and when she tried to accept their first offer they said they were not interested in her story anymore, they base their offers for what I saw in 2 main aspects where you come from and story genre, a romance story from n American artist will become expensive for them then they will take other artists story unless that particular story got a lot of followers, while in my case I got because at those time wasn't enough stories in action genre then they need to fill, but after I finished my contract I didn't get a new contract and is because they don't need me anymore, is how it is, is just business
I swear by Clip Studio Paint. The Pro option has everything you need for comics without having to ever upgrade to EX, and it goes on sale every three months for 25USD. One-time buy, too. It’s the most cost-effective option, and even has vector inking capacity, which I don’t know what I’d do without! The only reason I can think of for using Adobe over CSP is if you get it for free through work or something.
I've tested lots of software for drawing for years and to me, Clip Studio is the best by far, even for illustration. There are Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, is good also .

I would love to be a Webtoon artist...
Step One:
Learn how to draw
😂😂😂oof😂😂😂
I start learn,
I get frustrated,
I cry,
I give up. My story.
I love your webtoon!
when you’re early but don’t have anything good to comment:
Edit: omg i’ve never gotten this many likes in my life thank u all
So true tho
getting lots of like on UA-cam is like getting top comment on webtoon
Im currently creating a story which I've been doing for 4 months now. Im so committed and every page takes me about 4 hours since my "anime style" is pretty realistic. Im so scared no one will like the story but, i have hopes. its really unique
I keep coming back to this everytime i feel lost with my own comic...currently rewprking my "Universal Love" comic ;---; thank you for amazing info
How to delete downloaded chapters in Mobile?
The tablet: realme C2
The stylus: a pen with rubber edge
The software: ibispaint X
The panels: just 5 of them per page (pixels max 😭)
The drawer: a student
The talent: the hand
Welcome to my simple, happy, yet cheap life 😀
Omg seym 🙂
Sam
Same but phone is itel s41 u know I am broke af though the stylus is not that one too hahaha
That’s actually a great way to start tbh
Hello to you pal! We have the same life 😀
When you draw on your phone with ibis paint...
I can relate 😂
Yeah
I use Clip Studio for most of my projects now, but I highly recommend Autodesk Sketchbook. Both the desktop and mobile apps are free and very easy to use. I actually prefer using it over CSP for one of my webtoons because of the guide tools and the Copic color library.
R.I.P. to the copic library is Sketchbook. It's not in the latest updates. :(
Another suggestion for apple/android is ibisPaint.
I use it and find it allot better than medibang paint. It’s also free
Believe it or not, I'll gonna launch my webtoon using mouse supported by paper drawings, cool right? :D
What is it gonna be called
3:35 actually if after you resize the object and klik enter the pixel will gone (Photoshop)
You could also lock the resolution
or make it a smart object (?)
I've always had questions in terms of programs and hardware so this really helps.
Now-- what if i can't draw at all?
But still want to draw 😭😂😂
Start drawing then
Collaborative projects
Practice
@@lungdupak5978 same 🤣🤦🏻♀️
Thanks for this video! I had already published my webtoon but was feeling that something was missing. Now the art has got better!
Hey, Video Production was really boosted up for this episode. Keep it up! Thanks for all the tips, they really help us new creators.
I just discovered Webtoon and I am amazed by the opportunity of publishing independet comics. I can't wait to have a place where I can share some stories
I recommend the Samsung S3 or S4 tabs for those who use android like me!
I use a Samsung Galaxy book!
what app do you use?
Can we talk about the curator? She really spoke so well and made us more interest in knowing about the topic. Good job 👏🏻👍🏻
I really want to do one! I'm just not a really good drawer. Maybe someday I can make a comic!
Really love this.
You want the talent? It's simple just like buying the tools
Buying the tools:
-Hardwork at job
-Earn the money
-Automatically buy the tools
Talents:
-Hardwork at practice
-Earn the knowledge about drawing
-Automatically have a talent for drawing
The point is DON'T BE LAZY
🙌🏼😁
This is so helpful I’m thinking about starting a WEBTOON and this is really going to help
Moore Annoying Orange oooo please come back and share the name!! I wanna see!
laur sharpe I haven’t released it yet, but I have the storyline, sketches, and characters all planned out
This is the mosttt straight to the point video I’ve ever watched.
Me: works 5 hours a day to publish my WEBTOON.
Also me: *draws stickmans*
I’m the Creator of the small webtoon “CAKES” this was super helpful!
No Gimp or Inkscape? These are full-featured free, open-source alternatives to Photoshop and Illustrator respectively.
absolutely agreed with you, is kryta and medibang as well, I use clip studio paint but before I used kryta and medibang and being honest use photoshop for comic creation is extremely awful, I used in a studio I was working for and is the worst software I ever used for draw comics
2:28 I can't thank you enough for that tip. It really boosted my spirit.
Theres also paint tool sai but it's a program created for illustrations so you would need to draw the panels on your own,
but besides that its a good program :D
YES! Thank you so much! Webtoon is awesome and now I know how you guys create such pieces of art❤
I use Ibis paint for Mobile. The app has a built-in driver to connect drawing tablets and activate pressure sensitivity
I already started my own comic called Clown's Joke and honestly the community is best great so far in this website, thank you webtoons for creating such a great place to post comics!
Kaviix what word font do you use. Please help ;>
@@starlight9333 oh I love my word font, but don't recommended it, it fits into my aeshtetic's comic I think, but it's not that visible and it's very thin, I use : Courier New and NsimSun
y'all I'm ready,I already have a wacom tablet and I use MediBang Paint Pro ASKFSKSKKSK
I have a huion kamvas pro 12 and since I'm still beginning, I use free drawing softwares like Krita
Stops reading webtoons to watch this....
I've been planning 2 webtoons for like 3 years now and I have no idea when I'll actually be able to make them 😭
I want to do a comic but I don’t don’t have anything that I could draw digitally on😭
I'm Buurd and im the creator of Ketchup ^^ my current set up uses a wacom cintiq 13HD and clip studio paint!
4:41 me without internet...
*cries in Ibispaint*
I'm third as long as I don't reload the page
i used to draw digitally with a wacom intuos, and a nice free computer software is firealpaca. it is limited in comparison to softwares like photoshop, but if you’re a beginner, i found that it was pretty easy to pick up (especially with online tutorials)
Lmao I got happy when she mentioned mi’lord
I just - love her voice😭😭😭♥️💕❤️♥️it's Soothing my soul...
I use ibispaint on my android phone with a homemade touchscreen pen...The one that uses tin foil and Q-tip....Yeah
Im fine
You are not alone
don't give up I did the same I year ago and today I have an ipad Air 4 and apple pencil second generation if you really like drawing save and invest it's worth it.
This is so helpful, I am glad this exists
If you use an IPad Pro do you use....
A) MediBang
B) Procreate
C) Ibis paint
D) Sketchbook
E) Clip studio
F) Other (comment)
I'm damn broke
Sukashei yea figures I started using procreate and it’s much better then the other apps I used to use
Thank you for creating this video !! It was informative and helpful, especially on just getting on an idea on WHERE to start ! :)
I’m scared to start because I feel like my friends will judge me, I have a story, five complete episodes and the software but I’m just worried
Update (even though nobody cares) I started my WEBTOON it is called cursed wings and I am at 13 subscribers
Don't tell your friends or families if you are afraid then,at least until you get big enough on Webtoon and started to have income flowing in.
let them judge you, and don't care of their judgment at all, because I am a very old man and can tell you NONE of them will be part of your life in a decade and NONE of them will feed you, you need to find your own ways in life for yourself and for your family, and the cruel truth is: IS ONLY ONE PERSON YOU CAN BE CERTAIN WILL BE WITH YOU IF YOU ARE STILL ALIVE IN A DECADE AND THAT ONE IS YOU, then the only important is YOU and what you want to do with your life, NONE can live your life for you and life is always changing you get to succeed as you fail, but the more important Is to know and understand if you do nothing you already failed and if you do and fail you just need to stand up and keep going
@@user-bx1ku6ls9o HELL YEAH!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!! I’m going to read it!!
Hi its my first comment on this channel, but i have to say this is fricking awesome and cool!!👍👍
How do you y’all determine what comics’ll be featured? What are the requirements?
Dipsticks Had a life. Art.
Pretty sure it’s eaither voted on, read by a pretty important person in the company and determined or some sort of competition I’m not sure but I do remember from last year a lot were moved up from an app other then webtoon I forgot what it was called I think “discover”? And if they get featured there voted/read or compete and pass they go on to become featured on webtoon, I think discover is another branch of webtoon, I AM NOT 109% of all of this it’s what I THINK based on my experience of seeing new creators move in others move and ya.
Margaret K , how the heck do they get in contact with the creators though, i just always wondered
@@koro-sensei7884 Email account
in discover what you need is to upload regularly to be in the top of the search page of your comic genre that's the importance to set the right genre and a secondary genre and do it seriously because will determine how much exposure and success you will gain, are genres with less competition than others, webtoon is invaded by foolish naive romance slice of life stories because the platform is used by millions of young ladies that likes that kind of stories, then if you go for action or sci-fi you will have less competition but also less user interested on your story, but pretending you did all well and reach a good amount of followers then WEBTOON will offer you a contract, each contract is personalized and one of the clauses absolutely banned you to share the information of how much you are getting paid, you need to sit down read carefully the contract and make a decision, my advice don't try to get greedy, when they give you an offer you are not the only one in the scope, with my GF we both get an offer at same time, she in romance genre I got it in ACTION/SCI FI she asked for more money while I just took it, they said no to her and when she tried to accept their first offer they said they were not interested in her story anymore, they base their offers for what I saw in 2 main aspects where you come from and story genre, a romance story from n American artist will become expensive for them then they will take other artists story unless that particular story got a lot of followers, while in my case I got because at those time wasn't enough stories in action genre then they need to fill, but after I finished my contract I didn't get a new contract and is because they don't need me anymore, is how it is, is just business
Putting the key tip in the middle made my day and put me at ease
Hey! I have a question- can i post/draw a WEBTOON only using my iPad (with Procreate for drawing)?
thank you very much , this helped me as I'm planning on publishing one soon :)
i hope people will like it
Thanks this was helpful!! 👍
Dam people sub and say Damn so fast thanks WEBTOON I really needed to know
I've tested lots of software for drawing for years and to me, Clip Studio is the best by far, even for illustration. There are Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, is good also .
I use procreate for my webtoons but when I post it, it is super blurry and i have it at high resolution so I dont know, HELP😂
Wow! I'm blown away and so are my pockets!😅 But I'm glad that those who aspire to join such work including me have where to find great advice!😄
Me with my ibis paint x and samsung tab: 🧍🏻♀️
Webtoon laying it all out there huh. From publishing to this. Wow. Makes me want to draw and create again. Thanks!
Next vid suggestion: How To Kill My Laziness hahahahah
Where's Uru.Chan ?
Thank you for these as i was really trying to figure out which softwares to use as I'm planning out and presently just traditionally drawing the panels of the story i wish to soon put out on webtoon
I use ibisPaint X on an android tablet, I'm too poor to afford anything else.
When you can't afford any of these but still watch these videos hoping you could.
Some people use cellphones for drawing digitally ^^
The video's abt tools for webtoon creators, you need a pc :)
@@bruh-zn8ju galaxy brain people can make webtoons on a phone if they're determined enough
Great video. Just getting into creating comics but had no idea where or how to get my drawings to digital . Thanks for pointing me in a direction!
I'm spending way too much money on TRUE BEAUTY and HCLW
For drawing tablets I'd also recommend the xpen Deco 02. I've really enjoyed it so far
