- Ukraines drone army help out to take out a lot of Russian tanks. While Russia claim their tanks take out a lot of Ukrainian drones, in a very rare instance they actually took out a drone with a tank!

Shooting high it was acting as artillery, therefore the shell was HE. If it hit that lumpy bit of branch that might be enough to set it off. Or it passed close enough to the drone that the supersonic shockwave set off the drone. I think the latter: the explosion has a star shape, so it's a designed explosion, as one would expect for an explosively formed penetrator warhead. Tank got lucky.
At that range, it could well be just the blast pressure of the gun/turbulence of the shell detonating the drone charge.

There is no drone there, the projectile hit a branch. The projectile failed there was something solid holding from that branch.

It could be the projectile from the tank hit the branches and detonated
most likely, there was no drone seen before firing especially not one to make a fireball that size

I get the feeling that was pure luck ...or some one realised that the blast from the cannon was enough to set one off if the drone was in close proximity to the barrell...either way a very lucky tank crew

Probably just a dodgy shell that's been sitting around since the cold war !!
Amazing luck.. Pretty sure it was the blast of wind from the shell flying by that blew the drone up and not a direct hit.
Probably tripped the impact wire system. (The bits of metal wire they twist around so the shell explodes on contact)

It is amazing that all these people in the civilized (read arm chair) world know more than a commentator who is closely following the war and has access to all these videos, and all the accompanying knowledge/information. Incredible. The author of these videos needs to consult all those folk first to ensure he gets his facts right.

Let’s give credit where credit is due. Ukrainian Drone Army - 4,735 Russian Tanks. Russian top line tanks - 1 drone. One lousy little bitty modified drone.
Maybe a defect shell?
The explosion was to small for a defect shell.
Probably the muzzle blast set off whatever fuse the drone was using. As drones aren't moving that fast, the fuse has to be fairly sensitive.

At that distance a small drone would be clearly visible, there is no sign a drone there. The projectile probably hit something solid stuck in the tree branch.
@@othertipo Doubtful, We have no real indication of distance, and there was no tree branch in the way at least on the footage. It was just a freak occurrence though.
The orcs in that tank must have been scratching their heads for a bit trying to figure out why their shell exploded in mid-air.
Isn't the dialog from 0:11 mixing up drones and tanks, or am I hearing it wrong? Makes it sound like the tanks are destroying more drones rather than the other way round.

Could it be possible there never was a drone there, and their junk ammo simply didn't perform as expected?
That was a Russian tank turret approaching to land after 3 orbits around Earth.
Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you, that's what I was taught. Of course this time the bear got a several hundred dollar drone, so no big loss., the next one will get him.

The shell probably costs almost as munch as the drone !
Who cares about that if it saves their life? This is the same for most weapon interceptions nowadays. If you take into account the costs of the target you saved it is a win.
Though I don't think they hit a drone, but the shell just exploded because it was faulty/ hit treebranches.
