  • In this video, we take a look at Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer. Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer is the new iteration of trim protection products! Infused with ceramic technology, Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer provides the same hydrophobic protection you've got on your paint to your trim as well! Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer will even leave your trim looking shiny and less faded too! Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer is an easy-to-use lotion that makes applying it to those sometimes hard to reach piece of trim a breeze!
    Meguiars Hybrid Trim Restorer.......www.amazon.com...
Because most trim surfaces are porous, keeping them clean and protected has long been a cause of frustration for many detailers. The porous nature makes cleaning them much more difficult due to dirt and debris being trapped in the pores, where it is difficult to remove. However, the more frustrating part of these pores is that it makes protecting your trim nearly impossible! Because these pores create a textured surface, any protection products have a difficult time adhering to the surface to provide lasting protection. That is not the case with Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer though! The ceramic formula of Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer has incredible surface tension that won't easily be broken disrupted by the uneven surface!
The surface tension created by Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer's ceramic formula does more than just that though! With a high surface tension, that means that other substances are unable to bond or penetrate through Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer! This means that even water won't be able to latch onto the surface! The same is true for dirt and debris, making cleaning your trim worlds easier!

I'm disappointed with it, I applied it the first time in June to my 2022 ford explorer exterior plastics and while it looked great when it was applied (2 layers) it attracts dust crazy and and washed off quickly. I had high hopes but am disappointed with it.

I really wanted to like it but the coverage was too uneven after 2 coats. I didn't bother with a 3rd. In early July I did a 2 step on my 05 Silverado (thanks to the knowledge from this channel) and topped it with the Meguiar's Hybrid Paint Coating. I used it on the stock fender flares, mirrors, and bumper pads as well. I did do 2 coats on these items and they all are as dark and fresh as the day I applied it. Pretty happy so far since the truck sits outside all of its life.

So, I probably shouldn't have said removed, rather re-applied after it faded. You aren't removing this once applied after even a few months. It's semi permanent and lasts for twelve months at least...Once it gets a little faded like mine did I just used some panel prep to ensure it was clean on the surface and then reapplied. Hope that helps.

The finish looks great and I could see this being a good product for the Detail enthusiast. In a professional capacity, I see some drawbacks that will stop me from purchasing, 1) the need to do layers, time is money and more layers take more time, 2) the prep, again more time, if I'm doing that much prep the trim restore is an up charge now and for that I'd go with Cerekote, one layer and extreme durability. For a quick trim restore I use 303 aerospace, spray & wipe, no prep, go around the car once.
This seems like a good enough product that works as advertised just not completely suited to mobile detailing where time with the vehicle is more limited. Thanks for the review Brian, it def helped determine whether this product makes sense for me or not!

The thing about plastic trim, if you’re seeing zebra stripes, it’s just a matter of inferior materials + non-care by the owner. The only surefire way to eliminate faded plastic trim is just to keep at it right from the get-go. Don’t wait until it starts to fade. Clean it and dress it at least once a year. If it starts to reject dressings, use a restorative product instead.

Maybe someone can chime in on this? I have a mint 2003 Mercury in my enclosed garage. The plastic side trim or door guard trim or strip runs in the middle of the side body of the car. It is painted the same color as the body or over all exterior of color of the car. Lately that strip on both sides develops a powdery haze over both of them. I was told it is the clear coat flaking off - because of the warm temps and humid conditions in the carport. A light car polish takes it right off- but 2 weeks later it appears again. This is my sorta classic car that does not go anywhere unless I can guarantee dry roads and no rain.
