If the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame can open its doors to a country rooted singer they should be able to recognize the talent and contribution of a Latino soul guitar genius.
Back in March 2006 I had the pleasure of being on stage with B.B. King, Jose Feliciano and Patti LaBelle doing "The Thrill is Gone" and a couple other songs at the Cipriani Ballroom in New York City. Don't know why that video has never been posted as it was a major production. It was a blast and the crowd went crazy as they traded off verses and guitar leads.
Jose Feliciano, one of the most talented musicians of the last 60 years. He was doing English-Spanish crossover before anyone came up with the term. Extremely underrated because of his versatility over the last 20 years. Very proud to call him a compatriota.
Such a shame he's been so underrated as a musician. He's a phenom...unique, versatile. soulful, and full of passion. You truly see his love for the guitar and music!
Jose was like Johnny Rivers. They were never bothered (burdened?) by a band, so when ready for the big recording or concert they got the very best studio people ,. Yet rock fans love the idea of the ROCK BAND. , even when 3/4's have been replaced. Jose, really impressed Daryl Hall in their "light my fire" and I could tell , her knew he had heard something special.

Jose has always done his own thing in his own way BRILLIANTLY. Love different covers of classics. This one is awesome.....almost an ensemble. Jose is so humble for his massive talent.
I love his Spanish guitar influenced picking. It adds a great feel when coming out of an electric. JF is one of the only people in the world who could cover this song and take you away and let you forget yourself in the song without wishing it was BB King. He did the same thing with Light My Fire. JF is untouchable when he makes a song his own.
People speak of the great guitar players, I'm not going to name them here, there are just too many. However, I bet they all wouldnt have hesitated to sit and just watch and listen to this master do his thang.

That was due to decades of racism in the US. Now a day's is quite different. However, that musician, as many others is at the twilight of his career and life. He played many different music stiles.
Unfortunately he is past his prime. It has been said in 10 to 20 years no one is going to remember classic rock music from the 60's and 70's because it won't be getting any air play.

I remember as a boy watching in the 60's as Jose played "Flight Of The Bumble Bee", he was lightning, I was enthralled with his playing then and still am. He did some tracks with Darryl Hall (of Hall & Oats) on a series called "Live From Darryl's House", great material.
Everything Jose touches is totally unique and soulful. I caught him and his crew in Ocean City Maryland at the Fenwick in in the 80s. Thanks for posting , keep em coming.

Jose was the 4th of 11 Son's, I Love him since he came out in 68 and won 2 Grammy Awards, there is not enough words to describe his Talent, Soul, etc. We were allowed to stay up on a school nightif we new he was going to be on the Johnny Carson Show, Jose was great at jokes and had a great humour, Thank You Jose for the Memories. 👍👌🙂🙂
