Kurt Cobain voicemail to Victoria Clarke 1992 {Pitch Corrected and Background Noise Reduced}

- I know this has been out since 1997, however, some people on youtube have doubts that the original voicemail was Kurt's voice, due to it being very deep and low, or others saying it's his "Heroin voice".
Now, we can hear it's neither of those things, and it is indeed Kurt in his normal talking voice .I adjusted the pitch and cleaned up the background noise.
This is the infamous recording of Kurt Cobain threatening journalist Victoria Clarke via answering machine. Clarke was in the process of writing an unofficial biography on Cobain and his wife Courtney Love. Apparently Kurt was not pleased when he heard that certain details of his personal life were going to be included in the book.
This is probably my favorite Nirvana song.

Voicemails on landlines back in the day were audible. So a person could pick up the phone OR 'screen' their calls, hear what was being said, but not pick up. Kurt is assuming she is screening.

One thing I have to say is that Kurt was insanely protective of Courtney (and his unborn daughter) at least at that point in his life.

That's definitely his voice. People who are saying his voice is too deep, what are you talking about? That's how he talked! Listen to his voice in any interview.
This is the pitch corrected version. Whatever had been released previously is way deeper, slower speed that changes pitch. You can still hear his voice in that one though, but it was obviously transferred or recorded at the incorrect speed, or intentionally distorted somewhere along the line. So this isn't the version that everyone believes isn't authentic

I saw an interview of this woman talking about how scared she was after listening to Kurt's messages. She said she immediately packed a bag and left town, she really believed Kurt was going to have her whacked.
Kurt and Courtney both knew people that do that shit. Courtney obviously hired one them.

We all did....be hers was extra strong. My middle sister was always the most emotionally troubled. We all are barely sane...but yeah I heard it first about kurt being found dead...and I was terrified to tell my sister...it was rough. My oldest sister just sat with us and we cried for hours. First time hearing this clear version, I feel bad for him all the way around. Born in a dead end town with a supreme gift for music, and just itching to jam the F' out. Hated fame, yet propelled into it. Hated family yet created his own. Hated that he hated anything, wanted to be blissfully ignorant yet was acutely aware...I know these feelings, minus the talent and fame. Oh and then the addiction...he never wanted anyone to know his personal demons (we ALL have them), yet marries a loud mouth, attention seeking, foolish woman. RIP Mr. Cobain. He didn’t have a supreme gift for music. He was a mediocre talent at best. He just happened to be the right guy at the right time. But because he wasn’t a pretentious cock sucker like so many musicians were at that time he came across as very relatable.

He said his name at the beginning. I always thought the far more scary thing is people calling that say nothing. My flatmate, that always gave out her number too freely, had caught us a guy like that. He called our flat for several weeks after midnight and got three women wide awake and wondering who had called whom, and who of our co-workers and exes was the troll. You don't know what they're up to, especially when you don't know who it is. It luckily stopped, when I started reading 'The Hobbit' into the phone, whenever I answered the calls (always the first chapter, so he probably got bored). "In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit..."

It’s scary how quickly suicidal ideation can morph into a desire to hurt others. Kurt didn’t know what he was doing at this point, he was so sick. His loved ones really could have helped more, they’re the only ones who could have saved him. If he pulled a Dave Chapelle and shown back up 6 years later, we’d all have understood.
He was a cash cow at this point, he was feeding a lot of people, including Courtney, so she was ready to give him as much heroin as he needed.

Suicidal ideation doesn't make people want to hurt others. Trauma and anger do that. I have been suicidal since I was a kid, had bad moments because of trauma, but thankfully I never did anything.
As for anger, he's clearly pissed off here with reason. Sometimes, when you're mad, you say shit. Don't spread misinformation, there is enough stigma against depression.

PhoenixJGrey, no, he was in the process of leaving Courtney shortly after his daughter was born. This was his way of trying to protect Courtney for the sole purpose of his parental rights.
@PhoenixJGrey Yes he was. Several people have stated they heard talk about divorce between Kurt and Courtney in the months leading up to his death. Even Rosemary Carroll, Nirvanas lawyer, once said Kurt was in the middle of filing for divorce. Do your research before refuting what you don't know.
