Thanks for sharing my family from GA went every year in the 70's and 80's. My dad hitch hiked there with a friend with only $20, he was 18 years old in 62. A man let them sleep for a couple of nights on a motel roof. It was the first time he ever saw the beach. We always dreamed of someday moving there, but its so different now,,

My late dad was born in 1921, and he and his family loved to vacation in Panama City Beach every year. I believe they stayed at Long Beach Resort in the 30s. So thank you for covering PCB during this time in history. One of the most wonderful things about the internet and UA-cam is how it can bring the past to life in a very personal way.

Thanks for capturing the PC beaches era in the 50’s and 60’s. Imo, the beginning of the end to Long Beach Resort was the demolition of the Hangout. Great memories in this video

This is a great video, thank you! My family stayed for a week or two in a beach side cottage every summer, late 1950's through late 1980's, almost always on Oleander Drive. No barriers were erected to keep off of sand dunes or sea oats. The sand was so pure then that it gave a distinct "squeak" with every step; that was because off shore dredging to refurbish beaches after a hurricane was moot...the beaches were allowed to refurbish naturally, continued dredging over the past few decades after each hurricane has built up more and more sea shell bits on beaches and they simple are not sugary like before. There were zero high rises...the Fontaine Blue came along in the early 60's and was tallest hotel at about 7 floors and stayed that way for a decade or two before the hideous high rise invasion took root.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for putting this video together! While I wasn't alive just yet, I really enjoyed seeing this. I was born and raised in PC, and am still living here. I love this town but it has changed alot over the years. It has definitely grown alot lately. If you can put together a 70s and/or 80s of PC beach, that would be great!

My mom danced the PC Bop at the HangOut. I miss Long Beach Resort, Miracle Strip Amusement Park, and all the mom and pop hotels and shops. My great grandparents and grandparents lived in Panama City so it's always felt like home but now I don't recognize anything. Thanks for the video.

Does any one remember the caquina hotel across from the beach about a mile from the concrete pier ? OMG the pizza at funland was sooo good !!! I loved riding down the strip and had to drive 2 mph due to the cruising and all the people walking down the strip. Going to Capt Anderson and oh man just full of fish coming back . I love it

I remember when Long Beach had life guards. Fact is, if they hadn't been there when I was about 13-years old, I likely wouldn't be writing this today. I stepped off a sandbar into a hole over my head and panicked...they pulled me in. (That was over 50-years ago).

I remember going there from Alabama. I also went to Camp Helen a lot. Played at the Hangout with my small combo.
Saw the beginning of the Miracle Strip and then it was off to the Army and Vietnam for while. Later on I took my children to PC and my grandchildren. My wife and I are too old to go back now.
