I've always thought that fire trucks should be equipped with those plows you see on old trains. You know, the ones designed to deflect cows on the railroad tracks so the train doesn't get destroyed. Another method would be a paddy wagon disguised as an ambulance, which would tail an actual ambulance. When the real one goes lights and sirens it follows, but stops to pull over the drivers that didn't move for the real one.
I have been trying for years to convince Supervisors and add men to let me install ramming bumpers and a flame thrower On the ambulance. People still wouldn't get out of the way but I would have so much more fun

Though again this is only if you can't get to the right lane

I thought it was a code 3 trauma call without screaming family members, lights and sirens while drivers yield, the charge nurse is nice, and then a pat on the back by a firefighter paramedic who gently guides your hand into placing an IV as he offers you a job

Actually I think it's the one where the one real emergency of the day doesn't come in after you've already cleaned the car and are literally seconds away from clocking out and going home, but the colleages from the next shift of course aren't there yet, so you have to go back and go there anyways

in the UK all emergency vehicles use blue lights, except doctor's own cars use green. The moment I see blue in my mirrors I just instinctively pull to the side. The fact people don't horrifies me

I thought this was gonna be about first responders that work at Disney World. My Mom passed out at Disney world when I was little, and my Grandma told the guy working at It's a Small World (my sister and I loved that ride and went on it so many times....maybe that's why my mom passed out) and like not even a minute later a bunch of guys carrying bags filled with equipment showed up. According to my Dad (who is a doctor) the took my Moms EKG, they tested her blood glucose levels and pH, tested her oxygen and temperature, and even had an IV on standby. Once they cleared her, they took our family to a limo and drove us back to the hotel, which was on Disney property, and the hotel staff gave us a get well basket. My Mom was fine, though it turned out she got a cold. Basically, while being sick is never a fun experience, the first responders at Disney did a great job and so did the staff.
That's way better than my experience! I came down with norovirus on a Disney cruise, they gave me two anti-diarrheal pills and told me not to puke in the infirmary. Not even a whisper of a get well soon. I think I still have the same five episodes of Ducktails and Rock of Ages completely memorized from being quarantined to the cabin for two days.

When I first moved to Oregon I was in awe when I see cars would move to right side and stop to let first responders pass. Now that I've moved back to Taiwan I feel disgusted to see almost no cars would let first responders pass even though it's a law now to let them pass.
Where I used to live in NC they hardly ever moved over until several horn honks. I moved t IL. and it was amazing. Everybody moved over. All cars stopped a lights and the roads were clear. We were at a stop light so it was alittle more difficult but that fire engine was able to go down the wrong lane and just go right on by. Just as easy and fluid as possible. I got honked at because I was sill mesmerized by what had just happened. Lol. First responders are truly respect where I live in IL. Thank you for all you do. And the great videos.

So from my experience the EMS room look just like normal stations, except you regularly get alarmed to respond to an emergency but as soon as you sit down in the car, dispatch tells you it's not an emergency and calls you off the job. Alternatively there's also a ride where you do get to respond to emergencies, but everything you respond to is a genuine emergency and patients actually listen to what you're saying, they understand you and are capable of answering in an efficient and understandable fashion and they only start telling you their life story if you asked all your stuff and there's still time left until you're arriving at the hospital. Also every patient is capable of getting in themselves and you just leave used equipment in the hospital and take cleaned and sterilized replacements instead of having to clean it yourself
Jason - one day, you want to come to Germany, go on a ride-along in one of our rigs and witness the might of the siren over here. Sure, there's some exceptions but for the most part, it seems to trigger immediate '45-flashbacks, the way people move right away.

These videos have mostly taught me there's countries where you don't get a three-to-five-figure fine for not getting out of the way when you see lights, hear a siren or traffic comes to a standstill.
How would issuing a fine work? My guess for the most practical yet invasive is speed/traffic cameras that are used to cite you for things. Here in the US we're a little freer. The firetruck/ambulance isn't going to stop rushing to the emergency or hospital to give you a ticket. That said, if people aren't getting out of the way, that's not cool.

They continue on, take care of the situation, report your license plate to traffic enforcement after, and you get a letter stating how much you owe and how long/if your license gets suspended for this.

If a dude won't move, long as you can read it and have a means to note it, that's doable. I wonder how they handle weird ones that drivers panic about, like where the driver needs to go ahead and run the red light in some capacity in order to move.

If a cop or camera records you as being on the line (less serious than speeding through red, way less serious than blocking emergency vehicles), you have a protest box for saying "ambulance/fire rescue needed space", which should get it cleared.
Jobtown, successful field deliveries, positive stroke outcomes, cardiac arrest saves (and I mean legit saves, where the patient walks out of the hospital), all of them adrenalin-dumping...but nothing will be as satisfying and more potent than drivers actually being smart when yielding to the lights

I live in a very unpopulated rural area, and here almost everyone pulls over for emergency vehicles with their lights on. But then again we also don't have any roads that are bigger than two lanes going the same direction, and all of those roads are in towns with a speed limit of 30. I can't imagine the nightmare of trying to get to an emergency in a more populated area.
Fire department chronicles should do a video on the day to day life of the firefighter, and what its actually like. I am kinda interested in becoming one when I graduate High school, but it would be great to know what I am actually getting into.
For dispatch, it's just headphones that play radio traffic that's perfectly coherent, everyone has perfect radio etiquette, everything is short sweet and to the point without reciting the Gettysburg Address, and no one hits their distress/SOS button on accident the whole shift.
My dad was a firefighter in his youth. The amount of scolding I'd get when I was learning to drive and didn't practically jump the curb when sirens went by was insane. Between that and the stories of him drifting his truck to beat the next town over to their calls and I freak out and start moving whenever I hear a siren on the radio.

Once I was driving through rush hour traffic. It was between the access roads to a highway so we were in a little overpass tunnel with the right lane coned off. An ambulance was coming from behind. Everyone in the middle (my) lane scooted to the right into the cones and everyone in the left lane scooted a little to the left, and together we formed a hole big enough for the ambulance to get through! Hooray!
I live downtown in my city next to a busy street. I hear sirens multiple times a day, police car, firetruck, ambulance. And I can always tell when some idiot won't get out of the way cause they'll be laying on that horn.
Ppl have no clue how frustrating driving emergency traffic is. Especially in tourist traps. I do it EVERY shift. My favorite is when they stop dead in front of you.

These videos have mostly taught me there's countries where you don't get a three-to-five-figure fine for not getting out of the way when you see lights, hear a siren or traffic comes to a standstill.
How would issuing a fine work? My guess for the most practical yet invasive is speed/traffic cameras that are used to cite you for things. Here in the US we're a little freer. The firetruck/ambulance isn't going to stop rushing to the emergency or hospital to give you a ticket. That said, if people aren't getting out of the way, that's not cool.
@@danielgoodman3578 If there's an emergency vehicle coming up behind you, and you're in the way, they register your license plate. They continue on, take care of the situation, report your license plate to traffic enforcement after, and you get a letter stating how much you owe and how long/if your license gets suspended for this.
@@WantedVisual I thought about recording your plate, but I thought that'd take too much effort in context and they'd have to hire a guy just for that. Rethinking, that's not true. If a dude won't move, long as you can read it and have a means to note it, that's doable. I wonder how they handle weird ones that drivers panic about, like where the driver needs to go ahead and run the red light in some capacity in order to move.
@@danielgoodman3578 if you need to cross the line to make way, you're allowed to do that. If a cop or camera records you as being on the line (less serious than speeding through red, way less serious than blocking emergency vehicles), you have a protest box for saying "ambulance/fire rescue needed space", which should get it cleared.

I live in a very unpopulated rural area, and here almost everyone pulls over for emergency vehicles with their lights on. But then again we also don't have any roads that are bigger than two lanes going the same direction, and all of those roads are in towns with a speed limit of 30. I can't imagine the nightmare of trying to get to an emergency in a more populated area.
Can you imagine if someone made this a reality, I would be there everyday. Like sorry mum, I'm leaving home and moving into that park.

For dispatch, it's just headphones that play radio traffic that's perfectly coherent, everyone has perfect radio etiquette, everything is short sweet and to the point without reciting the Gettysburg Address, and no one hits their distress/SOS button on accident the whole shift.
My dad was a firefighter in his youth. The amount of scolding I'd get when I was learning to drive and didn't practically jump the curb when sirens went by was insane. Between that and the stories of him drifting his truck to beat the next town over to their calls and I freak out and start moving whenever I hear a siren on the radio.

Once I was driving through rush hour traffic. It was between the access roads to a highway so we were in a little overpass tunnel with the right lane coned off. An ambulance was coming from behind. Everyone in the middle (my) lane scooted to the right into the cones and everyone in the left lane scooted a little to the left, and together we formed a hole big enough for the ambulance to get through! Hooray!
I live downtown in my city next to a busy street. I hear sirens multiple times a day, police car, firetruck, ambulance. And I can always tell when some idiot won't get out of the way cause they'll be laying on that horn.
