    The debt is not erased, it’s passed on to the taxpayers

    • @bridgetteleslie8
      @bridgetteleslie8 7 місяців тому +4

      No it's not. It's added to the deficit, which is always a "down the road" problem that gets addressed during the budget reconciliation process. Funds can always be allocated away from other budgets, or it could be handled with corporate taxes or an exceptional wealth tax for the 0.05% of the population.
      Also, a large portion of student loan debt is accrued interest which the gov't has inherently never paid out / owed and has simply been an additional burden to tax payers that have chosen to attempt and/or achieve higher education in order to better their lives.

    • @debraschwicht9741

      So…the “forgiven debts” DO become the burden of taxpayers; it just may be delayed a few years (so, our grandkids will pay it…)

    So refreshing to see an interview with open ended questions and a balance of warmth and professional neutrality at the same time. I also appreciate that it is acknowledged that are independent voters. I have no interest in watching the major networks any more, but I would watch Sharon McMahon interview anyone. I hope politicians are taking note. I'm so glad VP Kamala Harris sat down with her. We as Americans need information about politics, not indoctrination. Sharon is exceptional. She respects her interviewee and her audience - and that respect isn't contingent on agreement but humanity. May I become more like Sharon 😘

    Thank you for the opportunity to hear VP Harris speak. Compared to Democratic primaries four years ago she is sounding much more confident and coming out convincing in her delivery. Being a vice president and having to represent the US all over the world has definitely helped her gain valuable experience and grow into her role. I have no doubt that she would do a better job than Trump as a president if need arises. Voting for Biden with even greater confidence than in 2020.

    • @carolynterkelsen6529
      @carolynterkelsen6529 6 місяців тому

      But she doesn’t say anything substantial & hasn’t done anything to better the country. She didn’t even know Biden was going to turn his back on Israel & agree with Schumer. What country tells another democratic country they need to change leadership? What if Great Britain said that about the U.S. using the excuse that Biden was too old to handle tough situations that will be coming up in the future?

  • @taylorgardner2706
    @taylorgardner2706 7 місяців тому +48

    Unfortunately, I am less than impressed with VP Harris, here. I get there’s always going to be a couple messages that they reinforce and want to underscore (Roe, small biz, etc), but I felt that the most important questions - concerning why voters should pick Biden - weren’t answered earnestly or directly. She was clearly relying on a negative enough reaction to Trump as the primary support for a Biden/Harris reelection. I wish she’d sought to earn more votes with more substantive responses.

    • @annolson6980
      @annolson6980 7 місяців тому +20

      Actually, I think she does a good job of staying on message about policies. I vote based on policies and character, not on whether someone might die in office. Anyone could pass away at any moment for that matter! If they are out of the touch based on age that’s another matter but not relevant here (for me). She is right to point out the dangers of voting the other way since it’s pretty scary would could happen to our democracy (signs of which are already happening).

    • @taylorgardner2706
      @taylorgardner2706 7 місяців тому +9

      @@annolson6980 I don’t disagree about the concepts that we should vote in consideration of policy and character or that age may need to be a factor. But she clearly diverted when asked questions about uncommitted voters and those with “misconceptions.” She didn’t address those who aren’t already voting Biden/Harris. That’s where I think she missed in this interview. There was opportunity, but she chose to reiterate the common talking points about basic policy and anti-Trump instead of taking the time to draw in questioning supporters. I was hoping for new info and more confidence - that’s all. As someone also likely to vote for their ticket, I’m concerned that there are so many uncommitted voters. Getting their votes is critical to avoiding a different election result.

    From a southern border state and though the price of insulin and student loan debt is the main reasons she wants us to vote for her, I would ask her why she didn’t visit my state’s border to assess what the real crisis until we became an important election state. Healthcare in my state is inundated with costs, crime is up and fentanyl is killing our kids. My grocery bill is through the roof and the wars in Ukraine and Israel continue on. Abortion shouldn’t even be talked about at a presidential level since it is up to the states. If you feel passionate about that then go get involved at a state level. She has had 4 years to do something and hasn’t lived up to any of her and Biden’s promises. I don’t like Trump but I could afford groceries and wars weren’t happening. I need her to do better at explaining exactly what she would do different and I still have yet to find a conversation with her where she is specific. I know this interview is a big step for you personally and I congratulate you on the opportunity. I usually appreciate your attempt to be unbiased, though in today’s society it is almost impossible not to let one’s bias show (we are that polarized as a nation). Personally, I have close to zero interest in hearing what the current vp has to say. She has had her run of four years and the track record speaks for itself. Nevertheless, with respect to you, I wanted to hear how you conducted such an interview. I know it’s no easy task, time constraints being one of the challenges… Still, I was surprised that you did not challenge any one of her responses, except for a determined reiteration of “what’s at stake.” Do you really believe this administration has “accomplished” all that Harris has claimed in this interview? Biden compassionate? More like an incompetent puppet. Obviously I know you can’t make such emotional statements in your interview, but surely you can’t be buying all she said. Americans need independents like you to be unafraid and bold. In any case, you’re a charming, classy lady and I wish you and your platform success.

    McMahon allows the interviewee to come across and leaves the audience to assess the content. The interviewee was a disappointment. If a person lies in my face and wants to be president, I know that person is dishonest and one can make your deductions about what happens where you don't see that person.
