I think gold leafing is just really thin gold... A higher karat bc it's softer and can be hammered out as thin as it is. There are probably cheaper kinds that are other stuff though.

And if it is actual gold (which it presumably is by the way it behaved when you handled it) it is very non-reactive and therefore not toxic. Gold leafing can also be used for food items after all it's technically safe to consume
Chemist and passionate chef here, gold leafing is 24k gold usually, body and digestive safe! I have made desserts and lip art makeup with that ^^
Yep! Usually 22k. Imitation gold leaf also exists and it’s made out of brass, and has a bunch of other names.
gold can be flattened to an extreme degree. i forget the exact fact but i heard that 1 penny sized piece of gold can be flattened out to the size of a tennis court.

I feel like it'd be cool to make the brows and lips be black with lightly brushed gold, so its kind of like a well tarnishes metal.
I was thinking a black/gold ombre
or a bit of an ombre effect like the lips be black on the outside but fade into gold, and the brows be black on the inside and fade to gold towards the arch

Gotta say, one of the many things I've always respected about you is you don't name drop products to make people feel like "oh if I want to recreate this look, I have to go get this specific Too Faced eyeshadow." And if you DO name drop a product it's either: your own brand or a staple product that ALWAYS makes an appearance, so we know you're not just saying it for sponsorship/pr.
Gold leafing is just sheets of gold beaten and flattened out until uts thin and paper like. People use it in facial masks and food even, so no it is not toxic.
That could depend on the contaminants in the gold. Try to use food grade if you can

no one talks about your color matching and they should. you always have exactly the color for whatever you need, but this chocolate color blew my mind it was so realistic.

Lex, gold leafing is REAL GOLD (22 karat typically) that’s been hammered into extraordinarily thin sheets in a process called goldbeating. When you cover something in gold leaf, you are gilding it.
Gold leaf is edible, and often used in luxury cuisine.
For future reference- Gold lead is just regular gold pounded really, really thin. Totally safe for body use as long as you don't get it in your eye.

There's gold leafing you can get thats specifically for makeup but im pretty sure it's the same stuff I used it for an avant-garde look and it was so fun and pretty

I actually like how the gold is coming through the eyebrows it ties into your inner corner highlights I like it
I like edible gold leaf flakes. I don't know about on body, but at least knowing it's safe to eat is comforting. We just have it from cake making, but my partner will surprise me with a little gold leaf in treats/snacks like yogurt or cocktails. We made a sea witch cocktail inspired by that fancy sprinkles Instagram ad with bomb pops and hard seltzer, black and teal sprinkles and gold leaf. The black and teal were from my class of 2020 cake.

I love the design you came up with for this!! It looks so amazing! Don't know if you will see this comment but it would be pretty cool to see a character from Peter Pan turned into a demon. There are probably a million possibilities for Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and Captain Hook, but I like the idea of Wendy or one of the lost boys would be a bit more fun and challenging.
