Currently, the best way to electrify Autopia is to electrify the guide rail. And with that, I’m having visions of Rocket Rods 2.0. Whatever they do, I hope they keep the sound.
The problems with electrifying the rail (other than most of it being concrete) is the unreliable contacts and the constant wear from steering. It is possible they could do it just for the station and on the top of the rail with some form of smart contact point though. They would probably still have to stop operation on one or multiple tracks at a time to allow for proper charging though.
There is no reason why making electric cars wouldn't have sound. All electric vehicles I see have sound added for safety- they could easily replicate the sounds of the old gasoline engines without the fumes!
I love this attraction at Disneyland but even being in the vicinity is tough sometimes, it concentrates in the air around the whole area and is very unpleasant.

I would love to see Star Tours placed backstage between ToonTown and Galaxy's Edge. Then, guests can board Star Tours from Uncle Scrooge's Rocket Launch Bay and step out into Galaxy's Edge! 😊
Yeah, taking away that rattling, squealing, headache-inducing pit of noise and gas fumes would render the attraction completely non-immersive, at least with how the track is today and has been for the past 68 years. Their idea for an "electric" change reminds me more of them trying to do a 'TRON Superspeed Tunnel' type of overlay on the PeopleMover back in the day. They would have to enclose the Autopia track space to help the guest envision they are having more fun than they actually are.
As far as the “sound” of the engines, why can’t they create a sound of a “Futuristic” engine and have it come out of each vehicle via a speaker? Tesla does it. Toyota does it. Hello!!!! It’s Disney! The most creative company in the world. Or, at least, it use to be.
Choosing a car sound would definitely be a new way for Disney to sell an extra souvenir. Imagine the Autopia drivers licenses having an NFC chip with your chosen engine sound that you scan on the car. I would definitely buy one.
Thunder Alley at Six Flags Great Escape was converted to electric, using the center guiderail as the source of power for the cars. They have working radios that play classic 50's songs. Disney could play classic Disney songs if they wanted. Why would you want to pipe in sounds of gas powered cars when that's the past, not the future of transportation? Those gas powered cars are so loud and smelly. This needs to happen.
I don't think they don't care I think it's more that trying to fix/add anything in Tomorrowland is just way more money/time/effort than it's probably worth at this time. I guarantee you there's some imagineer who so desperately wants to give Tomorrowland the makeover it deserves but is just constantly fighting with the budget. Let's just hope we get some Tomorrowland news at D23 this year.
I think the risk of someone getting out of their car and touching the rail would be too risky for them to attempt it. My guess is they'll use their trackless ride vehicle tech.
My home park (Canada's Wonderland) uses an electric rail for its antique car ride. I see no reason why Disney couldn't do the same, especially in California where rain isn't very common.
When Autopia was built for opening day, freeways were the future. The 5 wasn"t even done being built. I'd like to see an update. Electric cars, more stuff to see like a river , waterfall. Bridges, tunnels. Characters. It doesn't need to be a story or IP. And then fix and bring back People Mover and I"ll be happy.
Thanks for the update! You are assuming that the electric vehicles will be silent. They most definitely will make some kind of "futuristic" sound. Even the street EVs today are mandated to make noise since the early ones were "dangerously too quiet".
I know that a lot of people seem to think that Autopia is a waste of space, but I agree with David that Autopia at Disneyland is a great attraction--if only it wasn't so loud and stinky! 😢 I used to work as a Disneyland retail cast member, and I hated working at the Autopia Winner's Circle, because the incessant noise from Autopia was maddening. I don't care how nostalgic the shrieking, grating sound of the gasoline engines may be--it is a serious physical and mental health hazard. As far as a potential "New Tomorrowland" is concerned, everyone keeps forgetting about Disneyland Forward. There is no conceivable way that Disney would finalize plans--let alone announce them--until the City of Anaheim has acquiesced to Disney's plans for the Eastern Gateway Project. Why would Disney remodel Tomorrowland if they will have to remodel again the southeastern quadrant of Disneyland in a decade?
@@davidculver5446 Not sure what your comment has to do with my comment; I wasn't advocating for the removal or replacement of Autopia--just the conversion from gas to electric in some capacity. Plus, as a former Disneyland Cast Member, I am very much aware of how the monorail track, the peoplemover track, Autopia, and the submarine lagoon are intricately intertwined.
Thank you David for being realistic about this- you know Disney well - ( as well as love Disneyland) - Love your evaluations! Always feel like we are sitting around a table coffee in hand chatting. We love ya!❤ and I’d miss the sound but not the fumes! LOL - kind of like how much I miss the sound of the Matterhorn when its down
I feel like the issue holding up many potential changes in Tomorrowland is that they'd have to actually knock down buildings first - and that's something they're either not ready, or not able, to do. However, that shouldn't be an issue with Autopia - as long as they've decided how to do it (and others have posted good ideas below), upgrading the vehicles to electric seems like a doable thing. However, I agree that the engine noise is an essential part of the ambience - maybe stick baseball cards in the spokes?
I imagine some of the battery/charging tech from Rise/Runaway Railway/Remy's other trackless ride vehicles would need to be involved. They may even be able to ditch some of the barriers and have a predetermined vehicle path. But proper alignment with charging pads would be necessary no matter what. I for one have a difficult time with the sounds & smells of current Autopia, so I welcome a change.
Yeah I'm pretty sure they'll add some type of sound to the cars. My car has artificial vehicle noise composed by Hans Zimmer pumped through speakers when I'm accelerating so I'm sure they'll have something going on. Mix that in with a location based audio soundtrack depending on where you are on the track would be cool
I would love to see Autopia moved to the People Mover track. It would give perpetual motion to Tomorrowland and you can update and upgrade Tomorrowland as well as a Fantasyland expansion. It could possibly add 3-4 new attractions!!
Some parts of Redwood Creek could be taken, but wouldn't want the view coming out of Grand Californian, should be altered. It was amazing to walk out of Grand Californian, into park, on my first visit to Disneyland. Hope to come back again, last time my Pirates of the Caribbean, was refurbishment . I want to come back when refurbishment of the current attractions is done. Keep up the great vlogs, I enjoy them so much!
My guess for a possible solution is a removable battery system quite like the drone planes from the company Zipline. Since it's for pretty much an electric go kart the batteries might be too heavy though. Charging plates with contacts on top of the guide rails through the parts where you can't steer might be enough to keep them alive for the day. (They can't just electrify the whole guide rail because that's both hazardous for the amount of vehicles and they would just be creating an entirely new and worse ride because you wouldn't be able to steer at all.)
Hello David! David here from Sebring Florida and I have been a fan of yours for many years almost from the beginning. And a fan of Disneyland for over fifty years. It seems like the best partner would be Honda. I like your idea of the radio. If could be like the the history of electric cars. With a safety talk at the beginning. Then do a update on the rest of Tomorrowland later. Any thoughts? Thanks and have a magical day! 😀
Great thoughts David. I feel if they would do anything, it would have to be an inductive charging system in the pavement where it charges the cars as they go and they could be waiting on that to mature more.
I’m with you on the sounds of Autopia and keeping it. The gas from the vehicles when you stand in line a while does get a bit overwhelming and I’ve felt sick from it. But I love Autopia.. my sons drove them and now my grandson loves them. I’ll take electric.. with some noise lol. Thanks for update.
Oh you mean retired golf carts with lead batteries. And of course further construction for electric charging. It may also require a larger fleet of cars to accomodate for charging. Bottom line increased daily costs for the park and grid management.
Start Wars music IS featured in STAR WARS: Galaxy’s Edge … but ONLY in appropriate settings. It exists in the rides, dining and entertainment areas, but isn’t featured anywhere that music isn’t normally played..
14:04 It was announced at the 2022 D23 expo that Bruno Campos would revive his role as Prince Naveen in the new ride. So I think it’s a safe bet that he’ll still be on. Hopefully they pleasantly surprise us with Dr Facilier too…
10:09 I have a similar video of my kid and while it would suck if the engine sounds were gone, it's called TOMORROWland for a reason. There will still be memories, just new ones. ❤❤❤
Not to mention all the fumes have to be so bad for the CMs. I get a headache every time I go on Autopia. There won't be silence. Disney Imagineers know what they are doing. Usually.
I think there is more to the Autopia update, as they mentioned it in yesterday's Disney Parks Blog titled "4 Ways Disneyland Continues on the Road to Sustainability, Plus More to Come" too. I would love to see a complete refresh of both DL & WDW Tomorrowland.
The Avatar Pandora graphic came out at the same time. It doesn’t say where it might be, but it’s assumed to be in Tomorrowland although Disneyland Forward in a new undeveloped area like Simba parking lot makes more sense.
Autopia could be really cool if they went all in on it. It's in Tomorrowland so what does that look like? Well electric cars, maybe even an option to self drive. Add show buildings so you have a multi path destination? With a bit of effort they could make this attraction crazy awesome.
If they use the Rise battery tech, theyd need to put in a roof to cover the chargers from the elements. Which means either a new queue that covers it, or taking over the innoventions building (and adding a tunnel or bridge to cross the foot path)
Let's be realistic. Hybrid is the way to go. Autopia runs on recycled fuel already. Hybrids can get almost infinity miles to the gallon, and the batteries would be very small and auto recharge. It's a no brainer! And, yes, I truly love the Autopia cars sounding like 1950's lawn mowers!
Autopia does not need an upgrade. It needs to be replaced with another attraction. All that space could be put to better use. Want to bring more guests to tomorrow land? Tron!!
What sits below the autopia...the submarine ride...tear up autopia so goes the submarine ride. Disneyland uses the large water rides to help manage runoff water...very important this year.
I totally agree with you; they wouldn't change Autopia unless it's part of a larger project to update Tomorrowland. But I don't understand why you think they'd make individual electric cars with battery packs and need charging stations. I just assumed it's the track that would be electrified, not the cars. Like slot cars. That would be some exciting use of technology too, making a 'Smart' track. There's endless possibilities in that solution.
It's about time! Let's be honest, the sound of lawnmower motors and the smell of unburnt gas and oil certainly doesn't scream "Tomorrowland". It only makes sense. Current Autopia is a thing of the past.
It's like when casinos switched slots to no coins. You can add in some sound effects to replicate it. It would feel weird for a few visits and then we'd get used to it.
Not just electric, the cars should also be "self driving" allowing the kids to drive with no guide rails but not allowing them to crash or fail like they did when the attraction opened. Honda would be an excellent partner for any sort of upgrades to the attraction, if there was any will to update it. I am skeptical.
Massive blue sky here, channeling my inner Disney spokesperson. For Autopia, can they lay inductive chargers on the current track then overlay new pavement over the top of those, raising the level of the track by a foot or 2. They then introduce electric vehicles that can charge continuously wirelessly that would be lighter with a smaller battery pack and no need to park to charge? Expensive I know but maybe less expensive than dozens of vehicles with large batteries that need to be parked to plug in and charge up.
The problem with making Autopia electric is the always-on aspect of a theme park ride. They can't just park and charge the cars for 20 minutes throughout the day. Ridership would drop and guest experience would drop. Every car needs to be operational all the time, therefore the number of charging stations they install would be the limiting factor in rides-per-hour. So, if they do go full-electric, then they're either going to need a swappable battery system, or they're going to need some sort of wireless charging system in the roadway itself. But, both of those are extremely expensive solutions that require new infrastructure. But, the third option is to convert the existing cars to hybrid-electric, and I think this is the most practical plan. Hybrid golf carts already exist and don't require any extra infrastructure or track modifications. The only modifications needed are to the cars, and the cars can be modified one at a time until they're all done which would have almost no impact to the guest experience. So, in my mind, the hybrid-electric is the most likely plan (if there is any plan at all.)
They can make a 5 minute stop at a charging station a part of the attraction lmao stopping to charge partially through a roadtrip is part of the experience of driving an ev
Really delighted that Bayou Adventure is getting its own story. Princess and the Frog wasn't a great film and I was devastated that they were ruining my favourite mountain. This gives me a bit more positivity about the outcome of this ride.
Wasn’t the hong kong one electric or am i remembering wrong? The technology is there now to charge theme park vehicles throughout the day so doubt that is the problem and there are already conversion technologies that allow gas powered cars to be converted to electric maybe that idea can be implemented I think it is more about what their plans are for tomorrowland and the motorboat sub lagoon area.
Heres the reason why I think Autopia will never go electric: Its easier and quicker to refill a go-kart than it is to wait for one to charge for a good few hours. Unless they add charging stations/those electric floors to charge them.
I’ve been wondering why they hadn’t switched to electric cars for the past several years. It only makes sense for a Tomorrowland attraction. Plus it’s so much better for the health of the cast members.
Read this morning and first thoughts are tech the same as some others with an electric contact type track (down the center of the tracks), possibly. Also, I think the People Mover would have done this long ago when you had considered the possibility of a return a year or more ago. That’s a very long shot of course, unfortunately :/ Sounds wouldn’t be an issue these days to somewhat replace the old in a relatively decent manner but without breathing all the stuff that makes many choke (my family). I’d be riding it a lot if the change were made.
If they replace and keep gas sound would it smell different? And but who would know? so Disney makes Tomorrow Land 2 the movie flashback old cast to save money with new cast and set movie in future where doorway is autopia and not small world … “the earth is endangered by Hailey’s Comet and you now have a space mountain story!”
Ok you are so. right. about Tomorrowland in general.....nothing will happen (to ANY attraction) until they know what is happening in the next 10-15 years. ☑️
I don't think Disney has any large plans for Tomorrowland just yet because Autopia, Finding Nemo and Space Mountain are always busy. If those rides were dying and had few guests in line, then I think they would have an incentive to update the entire land. It makes perfect sense to update Autopia with electric vehicles. Honda would be my first guest since they are the current sponsor of the ride, but I'm sure Toyota would also love to be the sponsor.
Thats a good point about the Autopia noise it does give the ride some sorta life but how about a hover noise kinda like the noise what Tesla’s make? I think that’s kinda a 60s futuristic feel and it won’t make it completely silent. With Tomorrowland as whole why not make it a half update kinda similar to Magic Kingdoms Fantasyland because I think theres some things that should change like i think the Astro orbiter should move because its kinda in the way like why not move it above ground in the same spot or something?
I think they got discovery land right in Paris. its very brass and cogs, steampunk, jules verne type vibes. It'll never go out of date as its not trying to be the real future. And getting fired out of a cannon on space mountain is pretty cool!
I hope they can find someway to use induction to power the ride vehicles. Several years ago a freeway in California installed a small test section to use induction to power electric vehicles. I hope that technology has progressed enough to make this happen. Then no need to swap out batteries or charging stations.
I'm sorry that I don't share your enthusiasm. Autopia belongs in Yesterland. I won't miss the gas fumes. Electric cars would definitely reinvigorate the land. They could artificially add the engine noises. Given that you have an adorable young daughter, I understand the nostalgia of having her drive. Kids have been driving battery powered cars around the cul-de-sac for a couple of decades now. I do understand your feelings. I was bummed when they removed Country Bear Jamboree and then the Bugs Life one. ❤
I would love to see them give the cars a retro-futurism style and look to the signage along with going electric to give it that space race sort of feel.
Kind of off topic, yet on topic. Have you seen the new Tomorrowland merch that just dropped? I found it interesting that it is specifically branded with Disneyland, yet it very prominently features the Peoplemover. I suppose that could just be a symptom of trying to save money by being able to swap out Disneyland and Disney World on the products without making separate merch for each park. But I kind of also wonder if Disney is dropping subtle hints that Tomorrowland is here to stay and going to be rejuvenated to its old glory…….maintaining the mid-century modern space aesthetic while incorporating newer technology. Updating Autopia to electric is one way to accomplish that. Finding a way to bring the Peoplemover back would be another. Or it could all mean nothing. I would really like to see them go that route though instead of a complete re-do of the land with a modern day futuristic spin on the aesthetic.
I agree, the sound is a big deal but I think they can make it sound like a gas engine still just play the effects over a speaker like Radiator Springs Racers. Hopefully 😎
Why make the cars battery powered at all? you have the wheel guide in the middle just make it rail in ground like a monorail/train. cheaper and more effective than trying to make it self powered
Hong Kong Disneyland had electric vehicles with engine sounds provided to each car. The electric vehicles for Disneyland will allow for a cleaner experience as well as a new area to be built next to it, Fantasyland side, with no noise intrusion
The sound can be recorded and played on a loop along with other more modern sounds (not just like a jackhammer) 😆 I think they can definitely put in a soundboard on the vehicles.
A compact Litium Iron Phosphate (cheap and safe) battery around 5kwh in capacity along with wireless charging along the track and at the loading station would be the way to go. The quieter motors would be so much better, looking forward to it. My kids wonder why they haven't updated them yet and have joked that thise will probably be the only gas burning cars they ever drive.
I asked the cast member a year ago why they didn’t go electric, and they said that in the rain they don’t work so because gas works better they haven’t done it, so we will see
@@derradune6722Oh, come on. Tell me that you’re not aware of how all the electric vehicles in the world suddenly stop working when it rains. It’s obvious that the front line cast member had the inside scoop on how Disney technology works.
@@WindowtotheMagic well maybe electric vehicles have come a long way since they tried it and I don’t know if you’ve noticed… the engines are more exposed on autopia cars than electric vehicles, but I’m just saying what they said… if they go electric great
Honestly I wish Submarine Voyage and Autopia would just go away. They are actually both among the most draining on the maintenance budget and expense to operate but on top of that it would free up a lot of space for expansion and creating new lands that could contain multiple E-Ticket rides. I am sure the only reason it has not happened yet is because you have Monorail and Peoplemover track that needs to be dismantled (and Monorail rerouting) and because its all built on top of the Submarine show building it would need to be demolished too so heavy buildings can be built in those places. In other words, very expensive. Since Autopia is not going away any time soon it makes sense to reduce the cost to run and maintain. Electrification would not be that hard and the cars would not need huge powerful batteries since they could pad charge them inductively at the loading station and really in theory make the entire pathway an inductive charge pad. In fact taking that a little further they could embed magnets in the roadway to enable track guidance and remove the very jarring center guide rails to give the illusion of self control (but really drive by wire) along with sensors and telemetry to keep cars from colliding when one stops.
I could see it going hybrid. Honda is making a lot of new electric vehicles with the goal of making zero emission vehicles by 2040. It would be cool if Autopia became a testing for the technology, I doubt that would happen, I can see them being hybrid before going completely electric.
Yup. All major manufacturers are moving away from all electric vehicles. They are not viable under present technology. For now the future is hybrid. Hydrogen engines are coming out now, as well. The exhaust of a hydrogen engine is water. Now That's green!
I would be all for that. It will be interesting how they accomplish it though. I remember rumors from several years ago that Disney might move the electric version from Hong Kong to Disneyland but there are probably reasons it hasn't happened. I would like for Autopia to stick around in some form along with the submarines. I bet some version of new Tomorrowland will come in the near future but not until Haunted Mansion and Tiana's are done.
Charging can be done from the pavement but either retrofitting or manufacturing new cars will take time. I have a hybrid so I am used to the silence. They could pipe in some sounds maybe. New story means new movie, maybe?
I love the smell. It is my favorite part of the ride. That said, I wouldn't mind the noise reduction from going electric. And as others have said it probably isn't healthy for the cast members that are subjected to it daily.
With technology the way it is today, there has to be a way to have the sounds like the motor, piped into the car! That sound makes it seem like the driver is really driving! We have a car that charges the battery as we drive the car. Perhaps there could be some way to do that for Autopia cars if they go electric! Wife can’t ride Autopia due to the fumes, but it would be great if something could make it possible for people like her. Thank you for your thoughts on the Autopia subject.
Ok I have said this before, charging stations at loading just like Rise and MMRR, add sound and scent to the new cars, and change them out as new cars or converted cars can be added. And sorry David but personally, I think it needs to be shorter along with the park internal monorail, also bring back a shorter people mover (the bad track is probably in the back woods area where you can't really see anything) Avatar would work well back there, both above and below for the water world theme.
It wouldn’t be silent, they could easily pipe those exact same sounds into an in car speaker and or speakers in and around the attraction so while the cars technically be silent, it would sound exactly the same. my hybrid car has a sport mode has a recorded sound that does change with the amount of acceleration and it sounds natural
Imagine Autopia without the sounds? They currently sound like out-of-tune lawn mowers. Some artificial noise coming from the cars would be much better. How about imagine Autopia without the nasty fumes? It would certainly be healthier for the CMs.
Honda's sponsorship of Autopia is a 10-year deal expiring in 2026. There will not be any changes to the attraction until then. It shouldn't take long after though. Hong Kong's Autopia was already electric. It closed in 2016 just a few months after Honda began their sponsorship at Disneyland. That is what prevented those electric cars from coming to Disneyland then. They will not need to tread any new ground electrifying the attraction. This is really what is meant when Disney says they have a road map to electrifying the attraction. It's really all just a matter of money, time and sponsorship. If Honda renews their sponsorship it will be up to them to electrify the attraction, if Disney does not renew the sponsorship it becomes Disney's responsibility. And on a side note the Autopia vehicles at Hong Kong did make sound. It was a custom electric motor sound that was synchronized with the "gas" pedal.
Disney needs to do more than just have electric vehicles. To be futuristic they'd need to add charging while the vehicles are in operation or have a "hot swap" battery system. In addition, they should remove the middle guide for the cars and instead have a system to detect edges and electronically stop the cars from bumping the sides. All this technology is readily available and possible today. Honestly, not even that difficult to build and not incredibly expensive to implement either.

Yeah, taking away that rattling, squealing, headache-inducing pit of noise and gas fumes would render the attraction completely non-immersive, at least with how the track is today and has been for the past 68 years. Those gas powered cars are so loud and smelly. This needs to happen.
Fact: Bob Iger and Josh D'amaro don't care about Tomorrowland
So it would seem!
When I take over Disney and make it great again, I will undo all traces of those two and spread libel about them.
People don't understand, Autopia is always a vision of the future for those kids who get behind the wheel for the first time.
^^^ THIS ^^^
Electric Autopia, keep space mountain, 3 new attractions and revamp the whole land.
Continuous induction charging from the track as the cars drive around the loop.
you mean like they do on RotR…you’re going places my friend 😉
That is also a great idea!
I wonder if they could electrify the guide rail and use that to power the cars? 🤷
I agree
An electrified bus system powered by solar would be “future”
Simply putting it electric battery powered cars is TODAY not Tomorrow
🤷♂️
I think the risk of someone getting out of their car and touching the rail would be too risky for them to attempt it. My guess is they'll use their trackless ride vehicle tech.
There's got to be a way to safely make an electric rail system that will keep little fingers out of harm's Way
My home park (Canada's Wonderland) uses an electric rail for its antique car ride. I see no reason why Disney couldn't do the same, especially in California where rain isn't very common.
Why not a rail that propels the cars via magnets?
I guess Im one of those weird folks who loves the smell of gas 😂
Same
We all are…..the noise and smell of Autopia are iconic.
Ditto
When Autopia was built for opening day, freeways were the future. The 5 wasn"t even done being built. I'd like to see an update. Electric cars, more stuff to see like a river , waterfall. Bridges, tunnels. Characters. It doesn't need to be a story or IP. And then fix and bring back People Mover and I"ll be happy.
I’ll one-up you: I miss the smell of propane. 🤣
Dollywood has great electric cars, the technology already exists... The Rockin Roadway cars, the car radio plays 50's music
I think they know the autopia noise is iconic and would hope they would make the sound in some way
Thanks for the update! You are assuming that the electric vehicles will be silent. They most definitely will make some kind of "futuristic" sound. Even the street EVs today are mandated to make noise since the early ones were "dangerously too quiet".
They could easily implement speakers with driving noises 😂
Do you know what sits under the autopia ride? The submarine ride...you tear up autopia you tear up the submarine ride
LOL - kind of like how much I miss the sound of the Matterhorn when its down
I say Honda should upgrade the cars to Formula One engines, incorporate pit crews, and expand the track to include I-5. E-ticket for sure!
Hell yeah
That was done in Las Vegas back in November.
“Dr. Fossil-yay” slowed me down for a minute.
oh...FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
Brilliant!
Hmmm three out of six new critters are bears? Perhaps a prelude to a new country bear jamboree?
My guess for a possible solution is a removable battery system quite like the drone planes from the company Zipline. Since it's for pretty much an electric go kart the batteries might be too heavy though.
Charging plates with contacts on top of the guide rails through the parts where you can't steer might be enough to keep them alive for the day. (They can't just electrify the whole guide rail because that's both hazardous for the amount of vehicles and they would just be creating an entirely new and worse ride because you wouldn't be able to steer at all.)
I love your insights. They are the best and spot on!
We agree, and we love that he’s not too proud to change his mind when his first assumption ends up being wrong. It takes a good man to admit that…
Hello David!
"The music is the heart of every land you go to." This is why I can't believe they don't have the start wars music in in galaxies edge.
Start Wars music IS featured in STAR WARS: Galaxy’s Edge … but ONLY in appropriate settings. It exists in the rides, dining and entertainment areas, but isn’t featured anywhere that music isn’t normally played..
Finally!! Crazy it’s taken this long!!
14:04 It was announced at the 2022 D23 expo that Bruno Campos would revive his role as Prince Naveen in the new ride. So I think it’s a safe bet that he’ll still be on. Hopefully they pleasantly surprise us with Dr Facilier too…
Disney is an amazing time capsule,no change is the way,or even go back and recreate things from the past...modern Disney just isn't Disney...
The roaming Dr. Facilier was one of the most fun Meet & Greets in the park. Could we please have him back?
@@davidculver5446 I didn’t know that, thank you for sharing that info.
I share your thoughts of this not coming anytime soon. That was cooperate PR lungi at its finest. Thanks for the updates. Fresh Baked!
Hi I heard about Autopia cars and any updates on haunted mansions yet
Wasn’t the hong kong one electric or am i remembering wrong?
The technology is there now to charge theme park vehicles throughout the day so doubt that is the problem and there are already conversion technologies that allow gas powered cars to be converted to electric maybe that idea can be implemented
I think it is more about what their plans are for tomorrowland and the motorboat sub lagoon area.
Heres the reason why I think Autopia will never go electric: Its easier and quicker to refill a go-kart than it is to wait for one to charge for a good few hours. Unless they add charging stations/those electric floors to charge them.
what happened to the ship on top of tianas mountain?? that was in the drawings no?
Just put things in the empty Tomorrow Land buildings (Carousel, Magic Eye, Starcade, etc)
That’s a very long shot of course, unfortunately :/
Sounds wouldn’t be an issue these days to somewhat replace the old in a relatively decent manner but without breathing all the stuff that makes many choke (my family). I’d be riding it a lot if the change were made.
David have u made a video on the D23 ticket Fiasco? And did u get tickets 🎟️
They could turn them into using what they use for the trains.
Recycled French fry oil? That is already what they run on!
@@michaelsullivan3581 No they are still on gas not the recycled fry oil
Claude looks like Baloo. Phina reminds me of Todd from Fox and the Hound! Or was it Cooper? Which one of those was the fox?
Maybe Pandora underwater, is a portal from nemo in the sub to the "sea serpent (pandora)"?
Charging will be an issue, but I think they can. Figure it out. Need sound as I love to hear a good revving engine or sputter.
David, I don’t want to live in a world without the sound of autotopia 🤣
What is Autotopia? There is nothing at Disneyland named Autotopia.
Hong Kong Disneyland had electric vehicles with engine sounds provided to each car.
The electric vehicles for Disneyland will allow for a cleaner experience as well as a new area to be built next to it, Fantasyland side, with no noise intrusion
Radiator Springs Racers has pumped in engine sounds
Really curious how the autopia changes turn out. Re use the car frames or new cars altogether?
The sound can be recorded and played on a loop along with other more modern sounds (not just like a jackhammer) 😆 I think they can definitely put in a soundboard on the vehicles.
Autopia can be a Slot Car track, remember those?
It will give the Appearance of an EV without being EV
A compact Litium Iron Phosphate (cheap and safe) battery around 5kwh in capacity along with wireless charging along the track and at the loading station would be the way to go.
The quieter motors would be so much better, looking forward to it. My kids wonder why they haven't updated them yet and have joked that thise will probably be the only gas burning cars they ever drive.
I asked the cast member a year ago why they didn’t go electric, and they said that in the rain they don’t work so because gas works better they haven’t done it, so we will see
That doesn’t make sense
@@michaelsullivan3581 Yeah and I think I read that Honda is focusing on Hydrogen engines.
This needed to happen sooner. The fumes from just walking by Autotopia is intolerable.
I love the smell. It is my favorite part of the ride. That said, I wouldn't mind the noise reduction from going electric. And as others have said it probably isn't healthy for the cast members that are subjected to it daily.
@@gurutyler1991 I love the gas smell too!
😂😂😂😂🙄🙄🙄
With technology the way it is today, there has to be a way to have the sounds like the motor, piped into the car! That sound makes it seem like the driver is really driving! We have a car that charges the battery as we drive the car. Perhaps there could be some way to do that for Autopia cars if they go electric! Wife can’t ride Autopia due to the fumes, but it would be great if something could make it possible for people like her. Thank you for your thoughts on the Autopia subject.
Flying cars. That's "tomorrow". Even if it's an illusion, that is what needs to happen.
you could revamp the autopia roads with magnetic and turn these cars into hover car that floats.
4:37 I refer to this as the "go Musk yourself" moment 😅
Nice 👍
