I am saddened, Anthony. You identify as a zionist? You just broke my heart here. That's OK. You are free to be a zionist as I am free to be disappointed. I admire so much your standing up in the face of trump and trumplandia.
As a jew, I wish to quote for you a from the lovely toni Morrison....
Perhaps that's what all human relationships boil down to: would you take my life, or would you take it?

There was a Montreal businessman who sold goods to stores. He sold goods to one of the stores in town. When he was over 80 years old he was still travelling around the country selling goods. My friend who owned the store in town asked him when he was going to retire. The salesman pulled out a piece of paper from his briefcase. He showed him papers that showed he sold his company for 80 million dollars. He then told my friend that he was using that money to help the poor students in Montreal go to university! He set up a scholarship from that money. Stories like that aren't covered by the news because the salesman wasn't looking for publicity!

The idea of envy of Jews is very accurate. When I was 6 years old, my family fled to Jamaica as political refugees from Cuba. We were not Jewish. However, when my Dad and other Cuban men went to check on their visas to enter the USA (they did this daily), the people they passed would yell, "Jews of the Caribbean". My Dad understood the insult but refused to translate to the other men. One day, he was fed up and yelled, " Thank you!". One person asked why are you thanking us. Dad responded because Jews have been persecuted and hated, but wherever they go, they succeed. That shut them up.

I just love this show. What a wonderful conversation between you two. I've never in my life understood anti semitism and I am Christian. Never understood how Christians could hate Jews when Jesus was a Jew. I know that sounds very simplistic but it's the simple truth for me. I have many Jewish friends. We respect each other and celebrate each other's holidays. I'm not going to speak on the war in Gaza because that's a whole other thing. I'll always defend Israel and their right to defend themselves but I also really want this bloodbath to cease. Two things can be true at once.

I enjoyed and appreciated this conversation. However, not to mention Israel’s disproportionate response to the dastardly attack on October 7, 2023, resulting in serious genocide against the Palestinian people, leaves this viewer with frustration and dissatisfaction.

    • @alexmorton7730
      @alexmorton7730 2 дні тому

Disproportionate? Thousands of rockets fired into Israel for years by Hezbollah, the Palestinians vowing to wipe Israel off the map, and then attacking a music festival? When the US was attacked by Japan, they eventually dropped two atomic bombs on two cities full of civilians. It's called war, and Israel was not the aggressor. Should the Israelis have turned the other cheek?

@Skycouncil - War is hell. In any conflict, there will never be clean hands on both sides; however, that does not mean there is a simple equivalence.
A "Real" unprovoked attack cannot be compared with a serious, even excessive human, response. Read the Hamas creed!
Using civilians, children, as your "armour" should be unconscionable. Planning to martyr your innocents to harm your opponents, is worse than the Nazis, even.

Firstly Anthony I am not Mika's brother even though her brother is about the same age as me but probably I am slightly a higher achiever if my measure in your metric of money.
I was also heavily influenced by Jewish people when educated and when I worked. My experience is the opposite to yours. Initially I was accepted as someone to work with at the Universities I attended and when I was employed but as soon as you go beyond their limit of your perceived intelligence by others or when I ended up competing against them in business "I" found they work collectively to destroy your life or work. I get it, it's called stabbing you in the back and that is the "green game" called making money but when you beat them and laugh in a kind way they hate you for ever.
Another point is even though both of my grandfathers fought against Nazism and the Russians and one died a hero in the Katin forist massiker they claimed with conviction that Polish people ie Catholics collaborated with the Nazis and we were cowards who did not fight hard enough to save their lives. God knows how many times I was told this. Also I will add both my parents who were children were in concentration camps for years so please dont give me this rubbish about Jewish people being the victims of the second world war. Both my parents are Catholic but happen to be the children of a spy and the other a captain.
There is a problem in Israel. That problem is the long term treatment of Muslim people living there from after the second world war. There should have been a second country like the Pakistan solution or a second state with COMPLETE autonomy. Instead there has been consistently disrespect for these human beings for decades. Just because Jewish people are high achievers does not mean they have a right to have treated the Muslims in the way they have. I get it Anthony. Just because what you associate with Jewish people because they generally have money to invest with you or you associate with them a lot in business does not mean that everything they think and believe is correct. I love being around my Jewish friends. It's fun, interesting, and I learn something every time I see them particularly the work ethic thing and you know what I am talking about.
For God sake these people were given a State by Christian governments. Can't they treat Muslims the same way and give them autonomy and pride.

@Fswoop1 so the question of: "why so many people are dying right now?"
Short answer is Hamas invaded Israel, kidnapped hundreds of people, murder people as young as infants in their cribs. Raped and murdered people (yes men and women) in their homes, and oh ya, videoed their triumphs and celebrated the War.
Hezbollah and Iran launched hundreds of missiles and rockets into Israel...
