    🐒Correction
    Scene #16
    There's a mistake at 1:16:54. When I checked on the text at 1:17:00, I noticed I forgot to include the Chinese text in there. In Chinese, the Buddha says "a mere seven days on your mountains is A THOUSAND of year", but in the English translation it is "several thousands years". So if we go by the original language of the book, then it should be:
    7 days (human realm) = 1000 years (Mount Lingshan), which translates to 1 day (human realm) = 142 years (Mount Lingshan)
    The Chinese tex: 如来道:“山中方七日,世上已千年。不知在那厢伤了多少生灵,快随我收他去。”
    Sorry my mind was gone while I was editing this video, and I am the Chinese who is bad at math. You got me.
    🐒Afterword
    To all of you who is striving to achieve your goals in life, please remember:
    "Embarking on the journey to obtain the scriptures is more important than reaching Mount Lingshan." (踏上取经路,比抵达灵山更重要 -- FENG, Ji (CEO of Game Science)
    It is the journey that shapes us into who we are.

      What's the difference between yaoguai and yokai?

    • @shadower227
      @shadower227 29 днів тому

      Its about the Journey not the destination ✨
      Wu Kong coudlve just yeeted Tang San Zang to Ling Shan with his nimbus cloud, but he wouldn't have went through yhe 81 trials where they truly leanr and grow from their hardships. I guess its also a representation of shortcuts to success isnt necessarily a great option all the time because this success is often short lived, and cannot sustain for long. Like ahem* ahem* incompetent leaders who got their role via nepotism

    • @shadower227

      @@GL-iv4rwyokai has roughly the same meaning as demons or monsters as with Yao Guai. BUT, the connotation of what is a monster in Japan and their lores may differ from Chinese. Iirc, for Yokai, Human beings can become them due to their unhealthy obesessins

    • @MisterNukular
      @MisterNukular 18 днів тому

      @@shadower227 Actually, that is a question Zhu Bajie asks Wukong somewhere between Chapters 20 to 30. Wukong, Bajie, Sandy and the Dragon Horse have celestial bodies, and are basically equal to the elements, so traveling for example with the somersault cloud does nothing for them. For humans however it is deadly, because humans have mortal and physical bodies and therefore cannot endure such methods of travel. Tripitaka HAS to travel by foot.

    Hey Yugene, you know the theme you mentioned that reminded you of your childhood at 1:40:36? I'm pretty sure that Game Science had actually paid homage to this theme. In the game, if you accumulate the maximum focus points needed for the wukong stance whilst having the full wukong armour set equipped, the destined one will plant the staff down, extend it high up in the air and slam down three times. When this animation is triggered, that theme song you mentioned actually plays. If you don't believe me, find this video: Black Myth Wukong - MAX LEVEL 342 Vs Bosses++++ NG+++ Gameplay (NO DAMAGE) (the thumbnail has the destined one against the yaksha king) and go up to the 20 second mark. I'm pretty sure that is the theme mentioned.
    Also, really enjoyed this video. It was very interesting and fun to watch, especially when you made the joke about Spider-Ham!

      I get the skill that you are saying, oh I was just not sure if that's from the 1996 JTTW. Lately I have been rewacthing the 1996 and 1998 JTTW, and I noticed the opening of the game is the same as the opening for the 1996 JTTW: Wukong going against the Celestial court and soldiers by himself

    The JTTW 1996 is my favorite childhood series. It is so memorable since I need to secretly watch the series from my mother (she prohibited me since the series is aired at night lol - I live in Indonesia). I just learned that the actual JTTW have more darker story rather than the JTTW 1996 series. Thanks a lot, I watch your video from the start to the end.

    Wooooo! Been looking forward to this video.
    I started reading Journey to the West, and found translations for the additional books that served as inspiration for Game Science.
    I just have one remark regarding Erlang. I’ve seen many people say that he was always part of Wukong’s plan, but to me, it felt more like he didn’t know until he beat Wukong and took the Mind relic with him. Only then did he start gaining awareness of Wukong’s true intentions, and how they align with his.
    So what makes you think he was always part of Wukong’s plan?

    I think the first scene in the chapter 6 animation when wukong puts the bowl down, is actually not the present (it's just wukong and not the destined one with wukong's memories). It is actually right before the game starts when wukong vs Erlang. I'm just confused, how do we know this is the destined one after beating the game and not a flash to where sun wukong storms the celestial gates after his people were killed? (beginning of the game before we take on Erlang and the headband appears.)

I especially appreciate the clarification about where the game differs from the book, especially in regard to Lady White Bone. I can understand why the Chinese don't like how the game changed it. Hi, awsome video, just one thing i don't agree on. The last scene in grey colour, where he puts the bowl down, i think that is just before the prologe of the game, where he goes to fight everyone alone.

    59:20 not sure if the words are in Hindi. it's probably Sanskrit (ancient Indian language)but written in a different script. I might be wrong about it but it's definitely not Hindi.

    I wonder if in a way that the good ending was meant to be discovered after a couple playthroughs. Like escaping samsara, you have to go through the steps over and over until you can do it right and find a way out

    Sekiro is a great game that also delves into immortality and mankinds willingness to even sacrifice their humanity to achieve it. There is even a section of the game where buddhist monks let themselves get infected with a centipede parasite capable of animating its victims as if the victim is still alive after being killed. IMO, the Guardian Ape boss battle is still the most iconic and creepiest fight in the whole game. Meanwhile, you, the player, actually have true immortality since yours is related to a celestial dragon. The best part is that bosses will comment on your immortality if you decide to revive yourself mid fight after dying. The last boss is even brought back from hell after he dies from old age, in his prime, and is one of the best fights in the game. I highly recommend Sekiro for anyone interested in the subject of immortality and how badly it can corrupt mankind.
    The Dark Souls series also touches on the subject of immortality being a curse and when you lose your purpose in life. You become a mindless killing machine unable to distinguish friend from foe, so retaining your humanity is always the utmost importance.
