The bad ending of Black Myth Wukong probably bummed you out a lot because we all know the Destined One went into a loop! Some of you are perhaps in a rush to get a good ending and never get a chance to stop and think about the bad ending. Actually, the bad ending is more complicated than you think, and there's a media adaptation of Journey to the West to support this. Don't worry, I got you!
If you have finished watching the video (section 2 of this video), then I guess you can say you have finished reading a book. Check that off your New Year's resolution list! I basically explained the entire book to you. I took out the love stories and some extra stories.

For those of you who have been waiting for 3 weeks, I hope the video lived up to your expectations :) I honestly thought this video is gonna be a quick 10 mins video so I split it. Hot dang! Also I took a trip to Toronto last week! Love the Yonge Street! ❤ It was a trip I planned a long time ago. And I was sick during the trip. Still coughing today (fml🙃). Yea after this video, I will be making the good ending video. I have done the research already, since I did with with the bad ending, hopefully it will be out within 2 weeks lmao. I will disappear again, and I will batch film some Shorts (I love Shorts), I already put too much research effort for the good ending, whether I like it or not, it will happen, don't worry.

I would really appreciate and enjoy a reading of this Chinese novel. You could read small parts and explain it to us, that why you are expanding on it and added content to the original. Plus I think translation are your own as well.
Far as my opinion I enjoyed your video. It reminded me of a old tv show were monkey king became a Budda and then WuKong and Budda had a argument. And Budda rejected WuKong. But later Budda dies somehow and people are trying to bring him back. Never watch it because I couldn't understand it. I don't think it was a Chinese TV show. But another Asian country that made it. 🤔 back in 2008 I actually started Sun WuKong Fan Subs and found a few Chinese friends to help me make the English Subtitles for the 1996 version with Dicky as WuKong. I got busy after a few episodes with work so I dropped out. But one of the ladies continued the work. Miss Jade was her name. I still proud I had a part in the videos that are out there now with English Subtitles. Anyway since then I have watched so many tv shows and a few movies. I dubbed the whole monkey king 2014 movie in English myself. If you want to check it out I could email a link to download it. Oh course you probably enjoy watching the original. 😉 knowing Chinese. I hate when they make WuKong have a love interest 😒 he never had any interest in women. Maybe Pigsy always chasing girls. But not monkey king. But I still enjoy the shows like monkey king 3 where Dickinson came back. It was a wild show. He was my favorite monkey king until I made my own voice for WuKong 😅 anyway I still like Dickinson. I wish someone would make a Dicky model for Black myth wukong. Anyway I look forward to more of your videos. And hope you will do a English reading of that novel. I grew up watching journey to the west. a few series of them. the first one is the 1986 and the early 1990s but I had no ideas about all these. cool contents!

Thought with the bad ending, you become the new broken shell.
Then you start NG+ and fight yourself at the end, then NG++ = loop.
That's exactly what happened in my humble opinion. 💯 after all the monkey in the rock looks exactly like the stone monkey. I think the monkey is the mind sense relic, just without the memories of WuKong. And old three eyed puppie has the true essence of the mind relic. But the broken shell of the mind essence is both the monkey we play as and the stone monkey we fight against at the end. Until the true essence is returned to the mind shell aka the monkey. The loop will repeat. And without the true essence of the mind the monkey reverts back to a stone monkey and the 5 senses reject that destin one. Because it is literally just reincarnation leaving a broken shell but still incredibly powerful broken shell. And this is also why he trys to take the relics from us. Still trying to achieve the goal of reincarnation but unable to without the mind relic. And unable to take it from us even when we have it. Because it is literally part of the current destin one since he retrieved it.
But just my thoughts on how it works 😅
That was my initial theory! And this theory is also popular in the Chinese community as well.
But then I thought, if that's the previous destined one, why did they use the name "the Great Sage's broken shell"? And if he is the previous destined one, shouldn't he be a whole lot weaker or at the same level as the current destined one when they fight? There are logistics stuff I cannot sort out. Also I have to figure out why the Old Monkey put the headband on the destined one. That one bothers me a lot. So I gave up on that theory
@@yugenelhc I actually think that the old monkey in the beginning of the game is the old monkey. But the old monkey at the end of the game is someone else. They look a bit different to me. I believe the monkey in the beginning looks older. But at the end of the game I feel he looks less old, just my opinion. And far as the old destin one is become that powerful because they had the relics. But I don't think that the broken shell is that powerful in the early stages. 🤔 but once he stole the relics. He become powerful. Of course there is a remnant of the power left in the old vessel. Of course this is only me trying to explain it. And it's a just a plot point to make a challenge for the player. Even a Sun WuKong hollow of his soul and power shouldn't be very powerful either in my humble opinion. Just a theory. And after being a WuKong fan for so long. I should have the same opinion as Chinese people. After all I have enjoyed the same tv shows and movies. Of course Chinese people have seen even more of these tv shows than me. After all they even made a weird tv cellphone show with WuKong and Pigsy 😆 so great things dealing with Sun WuKong in China. Anyway thank you again for your great videos

@@yugenelhcI think all destined ones are the great sage's broken shells. He is kinda weak during the first phase, then gets back his powers in phase 2 once he absorbs the power of the relics from the destined one.

Not having read Wukong Zhuan, I’m extremely grateful for this video!
It sheds light on a lot of elements that now seem to make sense, including some parts of the animated shorts!
I do think the Old Monkey has good chances to be the Tang Monk, as it would make sense for him to be the recipient of the stories of each Destined One,
with the hopes of seeing one truly break free.
Not fully sure about Erlang redistributing the relics every time though, it could also be how the old monkey says at the beginning that they spread across the world “on their own”, as a will imposed either by the Buddha, or something.
I do wonder though why the Old Monkey keeps saying that Wukong’s mind is forever fully gone, since Erlang keeps it safe.
Does it mean Erlang went under everyone’s nose? It does get implied in his journal entry that at least the Celestial Palace doesn’t know he has the Mind.

I always assumed that since they are aware they are in a loop the old monkey was simply resetting you until you gain wukongs Mind.
After all you are to collect his roots in order to understand him and what responsibilities lie ahead. So maybe setting the headband is his way of saying you arent ready and you will just end up being back under the control of the court so do it again until you finally understand.
Why is this lore so complex I love it
The lore in this game runs deep. Wukong’s reincarnation reminds me of the myth of Sisyphus-an endless cycle of punishment. For Wukong to break free from the circlet, he needs to die, as that’s the only path to true freedom. From what I understand, he earned the title of Victorious Fighting Buddha and reached Nirvana, making him the only one capable of ending his own existence. Can’t wait for the DLC, will he challenge the Celestial Palace again or what, I mean, he has killed the 4 heavenly kings, regains all of his 6 senses and equipments 🤔
I heard the DLC is larger than this game because originally Black Myth Wukong is supposed to have 13 chapters. They shorten it due to budget
@@yugenelhc I'm a slow player and I played for 81 hours to defeat all the bosses, unlock secret areas, and achieve the true ending, and I'm not even close to 100%. To imagine about 13 chapters is crazy. It was worth every hour 👍

and for the Plot of Asura, its 100% the same plot as ASURA WRATH, when the Deity take Mantra (aka souls-energy through prayer) from Human for Beating Vlitra, same for Chakravrthin and his so called guidance, only here to get more power and expand his influence.
Is it just me or I'm the only one having headache trying to comprehend everything. With the "Good wukong" and the "Bad wukong". But maybe it's just me problem, i'll review it again. It's an honor to see someone really examine the depth of this game. Now i can truly appreciate this game being adapted from not only journey to the west but also the legend of wukong.

After playing through Black Myth: Wukong, I was inspired to read Journey to the West. I just finished reading it today. I had fun seeing all of the inspirations for each chapter. But I was also a bit confused when things differed from the game. Like how on White Tiger Ridge, the demon that Wukong kills 3 times is not a lover of his at all, it's just a random demon. Or how Wukong kills all of the spider yaoguai and none of them were the Violet Spider that Bajie loved. Or how Wukong still has the headband on at the start of the game, when in the novel Sanzang removes the headband at the end of the journey.
I would like to read Wukong Zhuan as well but it's a shame to hear there's no English translation. I don't know Chinese lol oh well.
Edit: It does seem however that the author of Wukong Zhuan has a very different worldview and message to the author of Journey to the West. JTTW seems to be very pro Buddhism, while Wukong Zhuang depicts the deities as evil, so I guess the author opposes Buddhism perhaps?

I find this game should be much more in depth analysed. I mean, at the end of the day is basically just Chinese mythology god of war but from someone who only heard of Journey to the west and of some second hand stuff from Nioh about far east mythology, is kinda a breath of new air and it's really cool.
I'd consider reading Wukong Zuan if I wasn't illiterate in Chinese. :p So thanks for the explanation. Was aware of chapter 4's plot with the pills, but now I know where the inspiration came from. And the ending is more complicated than I thought because of the book.

I always like the dark story of the Gods, the Government, or the Kings. It relate with how cruel real world is. Either God is not all powerful or God is not all good, it can't be all powerful and all good at the same time.
I also believe that the Stone Monkey and the Great Sage Broken Shell that we fight at the end of the game is not Wukong, but actually is the previous Destined one who failed to retrieve Wukong memories, it's a loop of reincarnation.

you know Buddha scamming wukong tracks with the original journey to the west well since wukong did escape buddha's palm both physically and metaphorically as well. he physically reached the base of the pillars that where buddha's fingers before graffitiing them and pissing on them. by that description he did physicaly exit buddha's palm, but metaphorically he'd exited the cycle of reincarnation, become immune to the hand of death and even the gods and Bodhisattva themselves, at that point he was outside even the buddha's direct manipulations, had he realized that he could have pointed it out before being sealed beneath the mountain.

One question however is that - if Wukong goes into a loop, how do the yaoguai kings (such as Yellow Sage, Yellow Brow)that the previous Wukong has killed revive?
Yaoguais usually take hundreds or thousands of years to reach the power level that they have. Do they go through the reincarnation cycle and end up having the same life again? Can Erlang revive them? How would RedBoy/Yaksha King come back for the following Wukong?
They have masters, and their masters are Buddhas. From another video, they said that the celestial court was against the revival of wukong but Buddha is on the side of reviving wukong.

In Wukong Zhuan, Wukong’s lover is a goddess named Zixia, not A Yao. In Journey to the West, homeboy don’t got no lover. He is a career driven man
The lover in this book is it Bai Gu Jing as hinted in the game ending
