Wow. Oh, man. These guys are incredible the way they can come up with a song that appeals to fans of punk, heavy metal, dance pop. Really, this suits the mosh pit and the "dance floor." The tune is so indie in spirit but it's got that mainstream element of a huge hook in the refrain. Just a great, talented band with a fine sense of songcraft and some nice chops.
I can't recall exactly. It might have been Michael Goroff who clues me into a lot of newer stuff (Well new for me). Been listening to them for about two years.
This song will forever stay an absolute banger. WPSIM is easily my favourite album of the band and the one I hold dearest to my heart. It's a masterpiece from beginning to end, youthful, cheeky, playful. The topics Alex Turner is discussing may seem childish or superficial but he's put them into words in such a way that you can't help but admire his lyrical genius. And the lyrics are not even the highlight of the album for me, it's the banging rhythm, guitar solos and just how each song sounds completely different and original but is a complete banger alone, and in the context of the others. Unfortunately, I won't ever experience listening to this album live the way they used to play it back in 2006/7. Obviously artists grow and evolve, not necessarily into something better but something different. The energy WPSIM had is incomparable to newer stuff from the Monkeys and other newly-emerging bands but maybe that's why it will stay so special for me and a whole generation that was there to experience it in their teen years.

I miss the old Alex too. Yes, people change and music changes and I'm happy there are new fans that enjoy their new stuff, but I personally grew up with the first two albums and I really miss awkward nervous Alex. To each their own but to me, this is nostalgia.
I love everything about this, Alex lead guitar, the bass guitar is pretty good for a lighting technician and the backing vocals from the drummer is so raw it gives a fantastic sound imo

Wow. Oh, man. These guys are incredible the way they can come up with a song that appeals to fans of punk, heavy metal, dance pop. Really, this suits the mosh pit and the "dance floor." The tune is so indie in spirit but it's got that mainstream element of a huge hook in the refrain. Just a great, talented band with a fine sense of songcraft and some nice chops.
I can't recall exactly. It might have been Michael Goroff who clues me into a lot of newer stuff (Well new for me). Been listening to them for about two years.

This song will forever stay an absolute banger. WPSIM is easily my favourite album of the band and the one I hold dearest to my heart. It's a masterpiece from beginning to end, youthful, cheeky, playful. The topics Alex Turner is discussing may seem childish or superficial but he's put them into words in such a way that you can't help but admire his lyrical genius. And the lyrics are not even the highlight of the album for me, it's the banging rhythm, guitar solos and just how each song sounds completely different and original but is a complete banger alone, and in the context of the others. Unfortunately, I won't ever experience listening to this album live the way they used to play it back in 2006/7. Obviously artists grow and evolve, not necessarily into something better but something different. The energy WPSIM had is incomparable to newer stuff from the Monkeys and other newly-emerging bands but maybe that's why it will stay so special for me and a whole generation that was there to experience it in their teen years.

I love everything about this, Alex lead guitar, the bass guitar is pretty good for a lighting technician and the backing vocals from the drummer is so raw it gives a fantastic sound imo
