Worked well for clearing the sidewalk and other small areas. EDIT: just did a search and found out it is a Toro model S-200 :)

The R stands for recoil and the models ending with an E means electric start. The Z I think refers to the zip chute feature...ie a 721 QZR is a 21" quick adjust chute and recoil start
Mine is the 518 ZR, which is maybe very slightly revised. The throttle linkage on my carb was not nearly as much of a bastard as that one you worked on. I popped it off, pulled the bowl, ran wire through the ports/jets that you showed, gave 'em a squirt of carb cleaner and put it all back together. She runs perfectly now, instead of only running with the choke on. That'll teach me for not draining the fuel last spring. Hard to believe this thing has no air filter at all.
It is the ethanol in the fuel that causes most of this problem. I used Toro premium fuel treatment and due to covid last year, I did not empty the carburetor according to instructions. Luckily the thrower started on the first pull after 8 months.

That’s some fine looking squash you have there.
Very nice fix, those snowblowers look cheap with all that plastic and the Chonda engine. Toro still makes some nice stuff but I can see where they're going the cheap route on some things as well.
I just replaced my two stroke Toro with one of these things a few years back, but I think mine is the smaller model with a smaller engine. I'm glad someone else couldn't get the dang carburetor off, I thought sure there was some simple "trick". I had to pull one of the mounting studs in order to disconnect the linkage. I'm not too impressed with this carb, I have lean problems every mid season even though I physically drained the carb for storage by removing the bowl....The main nozzle on my carburetor threads out and always seems to have a white powdery coating. No obvious dirt in the main jet, but the thing runs normally again after soaking the parts. I'm wondering if those two jets can accidentally be swapped, that would be a mess... I will probably end up reaming my main jet out a bit also, I suspect these things are metered right on the verge of being too lean for emissions. In the meantime, my old two stroke continues to run strong for my brother....
@@BrucesShop Yeah, I'm pretty sure that nozzle threads out of there also, mine had a powdery white coating.... Maybe I better go to the airport next fall for non enthanol fuel...

Hi Bruce, great fix as usual. Please pardon my ignorance, but I hear you refer to snow blowers and throwers. Is there a difference, or are they the same thing? We don’t have these beasts in Aus, except for probably a few up in the resorts. Not getting snow, or maybe just the lightest dusting means no call for them. It’s interesting seeing you work on these pieces of machinery. Cheers, Mike.
Bruce you said the .65 passed through the jet but the .70 wouldn’t? We’re you referring to the .75 passing through. The .65 bit is larger than the .70. So it wouldn’t pass through either.?
No the .65 is obviously smaller than the .70. Ok. When you get one to pass through no matter what the measurement is you go up a size just to see if it will go. If you have to force it is is bad. This is a case of just going up in increments. not an actual measurement of the jet size. Go slow in the bigger increments.
@@BrucesShop I’m sorry you were saying size and I was saying the #. The #70 bit is .7112 in size and the #68 bit is .7874. I think that’s where the confusion sets in. The # bit size gets larger as it decreases. That’s what I thought you were saying, but you were referencing the actual size. No matter, I always just barely size up like you mentioned slowly in increments. Thanks for the videos.!
With respect to non-ethanol fuel, both Canadian Tire and Costco claim that there's no ethanol in their 91 octane gas. This may also be true for other companies, but I haven't checked them.
@@cedarwings82 I guess that's changed. According to PetroCanada's website: " Yes, all of our grades of gas, including our Ultra 94 high octane fuel , contain up to 10% ethanol content. This is required by federal and provincial regulations. Refer to your owner’s manual or manufacturer to ensure your lawnmower, chainsaw or other equipment is compatible with ethanol-blended gas, or for tips on how to preserve your engine."
@@cedarwings82 That is interesting. I'm also in NB, but I don't frequent any PetroCans. I wonder if that's just an old sign that hasn't been updated yet. Or possibly that Atlantic Canadian gas is sourced differently. We know that the rest of Canada thinks the country ends in Quebec. :-)

This is a tough little guy to work on, I remember dealing with something like this 40 years ago, and I lost the fight.
Thanks for the comment.
Carb and primer diagnosis, sounds like my last prostate exam! Hard and no response.
Ok That is nor what the rubber gloves are for around here.
Bruce Pender that’s a good thing.
This was was touchy even after I reamed out the jet. Go slow. Thanks for the tip.
@@BrucesShop Yeah, I'm pretty sure that nozzle threads out of there also, mine had a powdery white coating.... Maybe I better go to the airport next fall for non enthanol fuel...
@@fleetwin1 That is the oly place you can get it??
@@BrucesShop That is where I bought it before for my old outboards, but the octane was too high! Will have to look around to see if there are any other options...
@@fleetwin1 I was wondering about that Stabil may help with the regular stuff.
It's funny, I've never worked on a McCooney carburetor in all these years, don't think I've ever even seen one. Are the emulsion tubes on these removable and if so do they have the small aerator holes that need to be cleaned?
I think they are pressed in.
Great video Bruce but I was wondering I see Frank in the back ground did you already fix him and not tell us or was this video before he got hurt just asking I watch all your videos thanks
I am repairing the deflector until i find the right one. There are a lot out there but i don't want one that attaches with velcro.
Very good Bruce runs good now
Yes. Still a bit surgey though
@@BrucesShop quite Gummiy a bit in the carb I leave gas treatment in the fall and winter to help from sticky carb and use fresh gas alway till the next summer
@@bradleyhatchen4786 This one sat for more that 4 years. Good for you though
@@BrucesShop yes that will do it I guess he never use it much got it
Great job Bruce, but you do realize that fixing that thrower created work for the person that has to use it, right? ;o)
I put old gas in my old truck, it's a '69 F250 so it couldn't care less what's in the tank. But I'm more careful of what I put in fuel injected vehicles.
Exactly. That old truck might burn water LOL
@@BrucesShop Haaa, it'd sure try!
Good job BRUCE ! That carb was seriously bunged up. FYI - Ukrainian Tire premium fuel is ethanol free. As is Shell.
I don't think the shell out here is. It all depends on the refinery.
Try this website BRUCE - might be helpful to add the link into your videos text portion for others to also see and use. www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=AB
@@BrucesShop I asked at my local Costco in the GTHA and was told the 91 was ethanol free (I go thru it so quickly not really an issue-use their 91 in 2cycle and 87 in 4cycle)
@@kirkthebeerslinger I use regular ethanol fuel in my vehicles as it gets used up but in the small engine stuff I use ethanol free as it sits in the carbs exposed to the atmosphere.
@@BrucesShop 💯 what I recommend to 'homeowners'. I am not worried about moisture too much-but the drying effect the ethanol has with the vinyl fuel lines...good advice-just like your channel Bruce. Thank you btw!
Got the same model for $100 off Craigslist today. It’ll work for my gf and I.
It will. good luck with it. they are fine.
@@BrucesShop thanks. Kinda excited for snow now but doubt we’ll get any since the Philly area has been mild for the last few yrs.
Does anyone know if the emulsion tube is removable on this model carburetor?
I don't think so.
Hey Bruce,
When did you replace the trucks bug shield??
This video is a couple of weeks older sorry
They sure don't make em like they used to... I'm talking about the man not the machine 😂
Thanks
I despise working on those single stage blowers. Always a giant jigsaw puzzle tearing apart and putting together.
Yes and scraping the skin off your hands.
Hey Bruce Were did u get ur gas sucker ? And how much ? Great video always a good watch
I did not use the big one but the small one is a turkey baster. The other one was bought at princess Auto (like Harbor Freight)
Who grew all the vegetables in the background?
The are squash from the garden. I was sorting them out.
When all else fails read instructions like unscrew the carbarator Studs
There are no instructions. LOL Thanks
By chance does anyone have the part number for the bowl gasket?

This blower is hardly used and it’s just a few years old, I just need a new bowl gasket, not a whole new carb.
Thank you for the quick reply however! It’s appreciated!
So how may hours did you spend on this unit?
Wow OK this video was made 4 years ago. I am only guessing it took me about 4 hours but I check a lot of other things that are not in the video. Thank you for watching.
What did you say the gap is on the spark plug
I set them at 28th Yes sorry for the confusion. Most 4 stroke engines are 28 for japanese style and 30 for older domestics. I found this on the toro site. The gap setting is 0.028"
What size nuts are on the carburetor cover?
Going by memory 10 mil on the wrench side
@@BrucesShop thanks
Why are there two screws in the bowl?
One is the main bolt holding the bowl on and the other is just a drain to reomove the gas out of the carbrator.
Yes I had to bend mine also but it bends back easily
Thanks
👍👍
You are always kind Joe.
I am impatient. Once I had spark, I would have removed the spark plug & squirted the gas oil mix in the cylinder, put the plug back in & try the rope again. I an only 7 mins in so, I will see the Master technique
OK Thanks again
STEEL WOOL!!!!
Yes but never near anything but the bowl. then rinse. Like an SOS pad
To me a snow thrower does not have a drive in the wheels (you just push it into the snow). A snowblower has a gear select-able transmission.
@@GPMAX01 Right I was looking at it differently. Sorry about that.
@@BrucesShop good videos. I’ve been sizing up on keys for years. Seems the older Tecumsehs and these little Toros really need it.

Double nut the studs and back them out next time...
I have done that.
Agree, it’s got to be better than bending the governor linkage.

I think this is a honda clone engine Toro doesn't use honda in there snow blowers they use there own engine that are usually the chinese knock offs
Yes but the carb is not a Honda carb. The jet on this one mounts on the side of the emulsion tube. More like a Mikuni carb

With respect to non-ethanol fuel, both Canadian Tire and Costco claim that there's no ethanol in their 91 octane gas. This may also be true for other companies, but I haven't checked them.
Could be. I think there are 2 suppliers for the whole city here. The co-op has non-ethanol in all 3 grades.
PetroCan is all ethanol free too.
@@cedarwings82 I guess that's changed. According to PetroCanada's website: "
Yes, all of our grades of gas, including our Ultra 94 high octane fuel , contain up to 10% ethanol content. This is required by federal and provincial regulations.
Refer to your owner’s manual or manufacturer to ensure your lawnmower, chainsaw or other equipment is compatible with ethanol-blended gas, or for tips on how to preserve your engine."
ThermaRay hmmm interesting as my local PetroCan (in NB) has a sign on the property that says “all grades of fuel are ethanol free”. Weird.
I don't like these little "toy" snowblowers, especially the 2 cycle ones. Don't like working on them and they just seem to be "temperamental"

I will make sure I improve my videos and at the same time I want you to make one video of something you like. I will watch it and enjoy your effort.
