    Bonus thumbs up for numerous helpful tips: 1) *Sharp Dressed Knife lanyard removal tool!!* (worked great) 2) Lighter trick to cook Loctite for easier release. 3) dual driver usage. I just spent 1.5 hours wrestling a particularly gnarly lanyard tube out of a PM2 without bending my liners. It was a heavily flared tube, from factory assembly (I wish Spyderco simply didn't flare the lanyard tube, seems un-necessary). Re-assembly easier after filing down the tube flares. Cheers to OP.

    I find, when putting this knife back together, that screwing everything in to the D-pivot-side of the frame/scale first, then the blade and other washer, then the other frame scale makes the process much easier. It keeps almost everything together.

    I had a similar experience the first time I took my Yojimbo apart. Ended up wrapping the spacer with one of those thick purple rubber bands you get on produce and squeezing my pliers with all my might. I recommend the Wiha stubby bit driver, it's got a thick handle for torque but it's a lot easier to control than a regular length screwdriver when you're applying a lot of pressure and maybe holding the other side with another tool.

    I just got my pm 2 back together. New scales back spacer upgraded hardware. The last two screws are stuck in the barrel spacer furthest from the blade. Both are just spinning. I’m dreading taking it back apart as the torx screws are starting to strip. I could cry out of frustration. They are new spacers and screws too. I don’t get why they are sticking so bad. Anyone have any advice? Please.
    Edit: I AM THE CHAMPION!!!! NO LITTLE SCREW CAN STOP ME!!!! I got it together finally.

    Don’t forget a tiny dab of thread lock on your pivot screws when you chase that centering and action.

    I find that a piece of a rubber washing up glove used with the pliers usually gets the `stand off‘s‘ off every time when breaking down a new pm2 (scales swap), just a thought 👍😄 loving the vid Jake 😎

    Flytanium 3D-contoured Micarta scales are definitely more comfortable to use and carry (much smoother on pocket) than the flat, standard G10 scales. Two sets installed, one more on order. The linen and canvas are finished to a lightly blasted but very nicely smooth finish. Canvas visually looks like it would be rougher, but they are quite smooth.

    Cool video! I definitely love the flytanium stuff. Big copper guy. One thing I noticed. The lanyard tube was SO easy to get in and out, it seemed on this video. I died with it on my copper scales. Cool build though.

    I'd like to see an update on the centering and see if you were able to get that resolved. I received a set of these scales and the centering was bad and nothing I did would correct it. To Flytaniums credit they responded quickly, had me make some adjustments (same adjustments I had already made.) and again no change. So they sent me a replacement set. Centering is better but still not perfect. I'll try to adjust more when I have the time, for now I'm just going with it because I like the scales so much!

    So what’s the updated opinion on these after carrying them for a while? Did the bottom edge feel too thin? Does it feel better than stock PM2? Better than Para 3?

    • @beardedgear

      I’ll do a follow up video soon, I’m really liking them!

    • @ranger5281
      @ranger5281 11 місяців тому

      I find the original G10 scales to be a bit blocky and rough for EDC (but they are very grippy). So to me, the Flytanium linen micarta are much nicer in every way, and personally I don't find them to be too thin on bottom of grip. So I'm putting 3 sets of Flytanium micarta on PM2's, as I like the look, feel, and 3D contours of Flytanium linen micarta scales. At the limits of hard use, the G10 and blockier grips are going to offer a better grip. But I've got full sized Military's and Shaman (and many other blades) for heavier use.

    keep in mind too much loctite will result in a similar action, as will the oil not having been worked in enough via repeated openings. OP probably knows this but not everybody watching will

    • @ranger5281
      @ranger5281 11 місяців тому

      Try an Axis Lock knife reassembly before you call the PM2 the worst... I nearly threw away an Axis Lock styled SOG knife it was so exasperating to reassemble (need at least 3 hands). I've done 4 PM2's and they aren't bad after the first one.

    Can you please link me to that lanyard tube popper? I need that in my life so bad. lol "it's smoking a little bit."
    what, the metal hardware (or the plastic the flame has been touching for twenty seconds)? seems like an awful idea to just such an unfocused heat source. even a butane lighter would be preferable , I would think.

    • @littlejackalo5326
      @littlejackalo5326 2 роки тому

      The loctite was smoking. It will be just fine. The plastic resin in the scales didn't get anywhere near hot enough to start smoking.
