You know, as great as the ASMR is, the fact that I've gained even trivia level knowledge about medicine just from this kind of video is my favourite part. I find myself grinning when I have to do this during a check up knowing why I have to.
Hoping to build it up. We’ll see how well it goes. Ultimately it’s about helping people, whether it’s via education, or just listening to an audio book
this is fantastically relaxing (and professional) Dr. Gill. Your reading was good, but the addition of both the natural sounds of your movements here and graceful pleasantries of your bed side manner really make this some of the best unintentional ASMR I've ever seen. Best of luck with the channel growth. *PS I would put "Unintentional ASMR" in the title and description if you're interested in reaching that audience*
Respectfully, I'd love to get this examination. A bit of pressing muscles on the back and this lovely voice, with a lot of "terrific", "superb" and "thank you".
I'm 33 years old. I've lived in England my entire life. I was born here, and I've never heard a more English Englishman. I feel compelled to make a cup of tea and hum 'Rule Britannia' whilst I strain the tea bag.
I wish my doctor had gone through this exam with me the other day instead of just doing one or two of these steps lol just got diagnosed with manyyy spinal issues after seeing her based on my MRI and it would’ve helped more if she had gone through this assessment. Thanks for sharing!!
I´ve had back pain since 1996, seen several doctors and moved between several cities and never had an exam like this, most I´ve got is a shortened version
After watching some of his videos on the other channel I had the best night sleep in ages. I can’t believe he have his own channel. I know what I‘lo be watching tonight to sleep like a baby again.
Hello dr Gill, for the reflexes, out of curiosity, when you asked the patient if they were right or left handed, they said "right" and you began with the right side, any reason for that? Merci.
Hello, dr. Gill! I suffer from Bertolotti's Syndrome, Type II, sacralization. I know this condition is still very uncommon (10%of the population), therefore, very little information it can be found or doctors to treat patients. I, myself, couldn't yet find one... Is there any chance that you could make a video to explain this anomaly and what can be done, in order to manage the pain easier, or the surgeries that can be performed? Thank you in advance. I really hope you will see my comment.
Question for Dr. Gill/anyone in the comments: During reflex tests (3:36), why don't clinicians ask patients to close their eyes? Couldn't watching make you twitch in *anticipation* instead of in *response* to the actual tap?
A twitch is clinically distinct from a reflex. The reflex SHOULD happen if you are looking at the limb or not Some people don’t relax well in the consultation, so then you can get them to do reinforcing procedures - which can include closing the eyes, but that is more about creating a distraction than the anything else
this is a major problem with connective tissues diseases, esp something like fibromyalgia where there is not biological testing, it is easy for things to be attributed to that
PLEASE HELP🙏🙏 Hi there I was wondering if you could give me some advice. My mother is currently in her late forties and struggles with chronic back pain. Ever since she was a young adult she has suffered from back pain especially after carrying heavy objects. She had three children- my two brothers and I- between her late 20’s and early 30’s. She had to be in a wheelchair in the weeks before giving birth as the pain in her hips and back was too much to walk. Her hips caused her pain for many years after having us but thankfully that is not a problem anymore. I think it was in 2014/15 that she got a bulging disc after jumping too high on a trampoline which caused her a lot of pain. At the end of 2016, we were leaving to go on a family holiday overseas and my mom wanted to be free of back pain for the travelling so she booked to get a spinal epidural. Unfortunately, the doctor/ nurse made a mistake and caused her spinal fluid to leak, which we only figured out when we had taken her to the hospital overseas after she had been suffering a terrible migraine during our flight and a couple days there. I am not sure at what point or which event caused it but in 2017 a piece of her disc broke off and was pressing on her nerve, this left her almost bedridden and in severe pain. Soon after she underwent surgery to have it removed. Now it has been almost 6 years since then and although the surgery definitely improved her condition she has never fully recovered. She cannot pick up anything, do any physical household chores, go on long walks or even sit for too long. She has tried physiotherapy, cryotherapy and doing the little exercises the doctor prescribed her but she feels no improvement. Something she really struggles with is her weight and her body image. Most of her life she has been tall and slim but due to her back pain she is unable to exercise. She is 174cm and 78kg which is a bit overweight according to the BMI scale but she doesn't look bad at all, however she feels most comfortable with herself when she is 10kgs less at 68. She has tried almost every form of exercise- Zumba, Pilates, Walking, Water aerobics- and she always takes care to do only what feels comfortable however even then the exercise worsens her back pain. Please let me know if you have any treatments or therapies you think might work for her as well as any ideas on ways she could exercise pain free to get back to her happy weight. Thank you

Some people pay for massages, some pay for sex, I just want to pay a doctor to give me an ASMR checkup.
Genuine question if someone can't bend down and touch their toes or get passed their legs is that just classed as being unfit and needing to stretch
It would entirely depend on the reason on for the reduction in range of movement
