When you visit him and take the quest, manually check the Quest log and it will confirm which Virtues have already been completed, and which Virtues are outstanding. It may be the case you have already completed them all? In which case you'll just need to fight the Hermit, and the Sword is yours :)

Wanted to thank you @GamerGrade. Awesome work. I've watched all your guides. I am the kind of a person that likes a real challenge in games, therefore I was able (after 2 hours) to get access to Toussaint (no exploits or hacks) at level 14 on Death March first time ever playing The Witcher. The goal was to get Aerondight. Currently I am level 18 and I was able to get 3 out of the 5 virtues done. Wisdom and Valor left. I am pretty sure I can do the Wisdom pretty easy but it seems Valor will be a hard one at my level since all the quests involve killing something that one-shots me. If someone here has a hint on how to do Valor at this low level feel free to reply to me. Anyway, awesome experience especially due to your guides. All the best!

I thought I'd add that using the enchanter from Hearts of Stone, you can extend the reach of the whirl ability by a notch over a yard (3 ft) making racking up the counter insanely easy. I've also had trouble upgrading it...because my build is doing too much damage lol. I even have enemies scaled up, but I very often kill them too quickly, so I powered myself down, focused on boosting Quen and got things done much easier. On that note, the enchantment for armor that automatically spawns a Quen shield is very handy. Better than using most runes.

Lol yeah its a late game sword, it will auto-level to match the level of Geralt when you pick it up so grab it whenever you want. Obviously the earlier the better :)
Saw something for WITCHER 3 kill all cows meditate 1 hour collect all cowhides go to neridad meditate 5 days sell hides and milk and meat but you need to equip only the crossbow including remove armor if you didn't know that already
Can I just say that if you start a new game plus at level 58 or 59 then when you go too TOUSSAINT and you’re at lvl 100 when you find a cave where a werewolf is you will find a Silver sword diagram by the name of Gesheft now this sword when crafted it’s damage is 1039-1269 yet the the sword you’re talking about at it’s full charge is 1008-1232 that’s at lvl 100 yet the sword I am talking about has 100 percent critical hit damage bonus +30%AARD SIGN INTENSITY 15% critical hit chance 15% chance to poison and 5% bonus experience from monsters AERONDIGHT is 1008-1232 damage with its only perk being a fully charge weapon always deals critical hit damage other than the sword levelling up with you’re character level BUT THE sword will still stay at what ever level you picked it up on your first one for my case lvl 51. So it’s the only powerful weapon you have and till you are at lvl 100 even when you get it again it still only goes up too 1008-1232 and there are other swords if you find them at lvl 100 that’s still more powerful not by much but by far the one I have pointed out is the most powerful silver sword in the game
I have started a NG+ on lvl 61 will let you know gear stats then but I did pick up AERONDIGHT at lvl 61 BUT DUE too me completing there can be only one quest at lvl 56 the sword was 56 good thing with starting NG+ on 61 all you’re master crafted Witcher gear is lvl 95 and that means VIPER GEAR AND GMWG are both 100 will post more comments later when I get there ATM I am on the last wish and yet too even do the ugly babe or even go to Kaer Morhen yet
Interesting, thank you for the video! I am at the end of my playthrough of B&W and I did almost everything besides the main quest which is its final stages. So I hearf about Aerondight sword and found your channel... The thing is the quest says that I have completed 4/5, the last task being that I need to prove my wisdom. Now I don't know what I picked throughout all quests but I am damn sure that I completed "Other than that How did you like the play", I summoned the specter and killed it and the game at the time showed that I have completed it. However, when I switch to the finished quests this quest is nowhere to be found. It's not even under the quests in process nor under the failed ones... WTH?!
This is a common bug many players have encountered. Some quests unfortunately do not trigger correctly, and some quests can disappear altogether! The only option is to complete one of the other related quests for the virtue. Good luck! 👍
@@GamerGrade yeah but the thing is, the only way to get that checkmark, at least in my case, is to play Gwent which ain't happening! Aerondight is available in NewGame+ right? I'm lvl 56 now, I'm not even sure that I would get the lvl 56 sword...
Ahh shame, you can get in in NG+ but you'd have to wait until late game again to reach Toussaint. The Aerondight you get in NG carries over to NG+ and scales up along with Geralt's level all the way to 100. May be a good time to brush up on those Gwent skills lol 🤔
Witch cheat engine I’ll make myself lvl 1, get the sword and then make myself lvl 100 👍. I haven’t beaten the game game yet, just got to blood and wine.

Using the WItcher swords for the bonuses that suit your play style is a wise idea. However the Witcher swords cap at level 40 in NG. The Aerondight caps at level 100. For this reason, if you level well above 40, and upgrade the Aerondight accordingly, it will seriously out damage any Witcher sword, no-matter the perk bonuses.

If you wouldn't mind, when you pick up this sword, does it come with a fixed item level or it's always whatever level you're at the moment of picking it up? If so, when is it best to pick it up? as soon as possible or when you've leveled as much as possible?

How to get this quest however? Why is nobody explaining this? Everyone is talking about this sword and yet i'm close to 50 LVL, late-game in BaW and the quest "there can be only one" is nowhere to be found. I google-searched it and some say it's in the notice boards (Cockatrice Inn in particular) or you can do the quest after "five chivalric virtues". Nope, there is nowhere and i don't know what's going on.
You can pick it up anywhere from level 35. The damage scales up to Geralts level upon pickup, so feel free to pick it up whenever you want. Anywhere in your 40's is a good time. Good luck! 🍻
I got one in velen doing the magic lamp mission. When you get the eye of nehaleni after the fight. In the same room, go to the back left and there you go. Got one on level 6 but it don't level up

Unfortunately not, as Its exclusive to the Blood and Wine expansion. For that reason its best to get it as soon as you reach Toussaint, which will naturally be around level 30+.
I hate seeing a silver sword against non monster it annoys me for some reason, I know it’s for the vid but you could’ve found some drowners a guarded treasure or something- very good video though, liked and subbed
Yeah, but using it against weaker humans, whose attacks you can defend against easily, (but whom you need to hit many times with Aerondight) is EXACTLY the best way to charge it fully to 10 for each killing strike, thus getting it the level up! Yes it may look & sound a bit silly, and time wasteful..but nothing works better! Its too powerful a Silver sword to get this effect with most monsters in the normal game, because either you kill them too easily, before your full charge of 10 strikes, or they keep injuring you, knocking off the charges your trying to build up in Aerondight..to get that same level up. Much easier to put away your steel sword entirely, and go back to somewhere men & beasts are weaker than Geralt, and level up easily. Foolish not to take advantage of such an easy capability, to keep levelling up such an awesome weapon, and keep it levelled to your character.. Besides, lots of those bandits need a damn good smackin about, and improving Aerondight on them is a perfect way to help it keep the smash up, good & strong in your 'real game' requirements, fighting the real & serious monsters.

When you start the quest only the Virtues that remain to be done will be listed as active objectives, the virtues already completed will not be displayed.

Yes this possible. You will only be able to fight the Hermit once you have achieved all 5 virtue requirements. You must have already done this before you spoke with him, therefore you were able to fight him and get the sword. Congratulations 🍻
just a question how do I get it to level up with geralt? cos for example i have blade from the bits at level 31 and my geralt is at 36. is there a way to get weapons that levels up with you a bit closer to your actual level?

I found an aerondight sword early on at level one still while wondering around...are there other swords called the areondight?..it has 3 sockets and can be used immediately....will this sword level up with me or is that sword from the lake a special versiin

Ahh i see unfortunately you cant level the Aerondight's level once you pick it up, you can only level its base damage output, which is the important thing :)

Yes the game records the virtues you have already completed, so if you have already completed them all by the time you reach the Hermit, all you have to do is fight him for the sword :) Good job man 👊

I thought I'd add that using the enchanter from Hearts of Stone, you can extend the reach of the whirl ability by a notch over a yard (3 ft) making racking up the counter insanely easy.
I've also had trouble upgrading it...because my build is doing too much damage lol. I even have enemies scaled up, but I very often kill them too quickly, so I powered myself down, focused on boosting Quen and got things done much easier.
On that note, the enchantment for armor that automatically spawns a Quen shield is very handy. Better than using most runes.

It's interesting that some quests give you a different virtue depending on your choice, basically saying you can't always uphold all 5 virtues

Lol yeah its a late game sword, it will auto-level to match the level of Geralt when you pick it up so grab it whenever you want. Obviously the earlier the better :)

Saw something for WITCHER 3 kill all cows meditate 1 hour collect all cowhides go to neridad meditate 5 days
sell hides and milk and meat but you need to equip only the crossbow including remove armor if you didn't know that already

Can I just say that if you start a new game plus at level 58 or 59 then when you go too TOUSSAINT and you’re at lvl 100 when you find a cave where a werewolf is you will find a Silver sword diagram by the name of Gesheft now this sword when crafted it’s damage is 1039-1269 yet the the sword you’re talking about at it’s full charge is 1008-1232 that’s at lvl 100 yet the sword I am talking about has 100 percent critical hit damage bonus
+30%AARD SIGN INTENSITY 15% critical hit chance 15% chance to poison and 5% bonus experience from monsters AERONDIGHT is 1008-1232 damage with its only perk being a fully charge weapon always deals critical hit damage other than the sword levelling up with you’re character level BUT THE sword will still stay at what ever level you picked it up on your first one for my case lvl 51. So it’s the only powerful weapon you have and till you are at lvl 100 even when you get it again it still only goes up too 1008-1232 and there are other swords if you find them at lvl 100 that’s still more powerful not by much but by far the one I have pointed out is the most powerful silver sword in the game

I have started a NG+ on lvl 61 will let you know gear stats then but I did pick up AERONDIGHT at lvl 61 BUT DUE too me completing there can be only one quest at lvl 56 the sword was 56 good thing with starting NG+ on 61 all you’re master crafted Witcher gear is lvl 95 and that means VIPER GEAR AND GMWG are both 100 will post more comments later when I get there ATM I am on the last wish and yet too even do the ugly babe or even go to Kaer Morhen yet

Interesting, thank you for the video! I am at the end of my playthrough of B&W and I did almost everything besides the main quest which is its final stages. So I hearf about Aerondight sword and found your channel... The thing is the quest says that I have completed 4/5, the last task being that I need to prove my wisdom. Now I don't know what I picked throughout all quests but I am damn sure that I completed "Other than that How did you like the play", I summoned the specter and killed it and the game at the time showed that I have completed it. However, when I switch to the finished quests this quest is nowhere to be found. It's not even under the quests in process nor under the failed ones... WTH?!
This is a common bug many players have encountered. Some quests unfortunately do not trigger correctly, and some quests can disappear altogether! The only option is to complete one of the other related quests for the virtue. Good luck! 👍
@@GamerGrade yeah but the thing is, the only way to get that checkmark, at least in my case, is to play Gwent which ain't happening! Aerondight is available in NewGame+ right? I'm lvl 56 now, I'm not even sure that I would get the lvl 56 sword...
Ahh shame, you can get in in NG+ but you'd have to wait until late game again to reach Toussaint. The Aerondight you get in NG carries over to NG+ and scales up along with Geralt's level all the way to 100. May be a good time to brush up on those Gwent skills lol 🤔

By equipping this sword I can't have a full witcher gear set and then all the bonuses are lost what do u recommend doing???
Using the WItcher swords for the bonuses that suit your play style is a wise idea. However the Witcher swords cap at level 40 in NG.
The Aerondight caps at level 100. For this reason, if you level well above 40, and upgrade the Aerondight accordingly, it will seriously out damage any Witcher sword, no-matter the perk bonuses.

How to get this quest however? Why is nobody explaining this? Everyone is talking about this sword and yet i'm close to 50 LVL, late-game in BaW and the quest "there can be only one" is nowhere to be found. I google-searched it and some say it's in the notice boards (Cockatrice Inn in particular) or you can do the quest after "five chivalric virtues". Nope, there is nowhere and i don't know what's going on.
All you have to do is go to this location to unlock the quest: 00:58.

I got one in velen doing the magic lamp mission. When you get the eye of nehaleni after the fight. In the same room, go to the back left and there you go. Got one on level 6 but it don't level up

Unfortunately not, as Its exclusive to the Blood and Wine expansion. For that reason its best to get it as soon as you reach Toussaint, which will naturally be around level 30+.

Yeah, but using it against weaker humans, whose attacks you can defend against easily, (but whom you need to hit many times with Aerondight) is EXACTLY the best way to charge it fully to 10 for each killing strike, thus getting it the level up!
Yes it may look & sound a bit silly, and time wasteful..but nothing works better!
Its too powerful a Silver sword to get this effect with most monsters in the normal game, because either you kill them too easily, before your full charge of 10 strikes, or they keep injuring you, knocking off the charges your trying to build up in Aerondight..to get that same level up.
Much easier to put away your steel sword entirely, and go back to somewhere men & beasts are weaker than Geralt, and level up easily.
Foolish not to take advantage of such an easy capability, to keep levelling up such an awesome weapon, and keep it levelled to your character..
Besides, lots of those bandits need a damn good smackin about, and improving Aerondight on them is a perfect way to help it keep the smash up, good & strong in your 'real game' requirements, fighting the real & serious monsters.

Aard and Quen are under the Signs skill tree (blue), just pump your points into those and max out their intensities at level 5 for maximum effect :)

When you start the quest only the Virtues that remain to be done will be listed as active objectives, the virtues already completed will not be displayed.

Yes this possible. You will only be able to fight the Hermit once you have achieved all 5 virtue requirements. You must have already done this before you spoke with him, therefore you were able to fight him and get the sword. Congratulations 🍻

Simply choose one of the other quests in the list that you have not yet tried :)

Ahh i see unfortunately you cant level the Aerondight's level once you pick it up, you can only level its base damage output, which is the important thing :)

You dont, only use it against monsters. The best Steel sword is the Toussaint Knight's Steel Sword, or before that, the Grandmaster Ursine 👍

Yes the game records the virtues you have already completed, so if you have already completed them all by the time you reach the Hermit, all you have to do is fight him for the sword :)

It doesn't really take a perfect coincidence, alot of the quests reward you with one of the virtues regardless of the quests summary.

Yes it auto scales to your level upon pickup, so nothing wasted :)
