It's a new day new era and I am feeling very good about it.14 minutes is all Virginie needed to send that message.The clothes were chic,wearable without the Chanel being in your face.Ditto for the minimal presentation without the sets distracting from the clothes. As much as I admired Kaiser Karl (RIP) the shows and clothes were getting HEAVY.
Karl had marvelous stuff but i must say around 2009 it stayed the same ...with a few exceptions ...he was so fantastic with fendi but chanel was falling behind,still a major inspiration for all designers and artists tho

When you're a new designer at such an important house, taking the core signatures and blending them with the current status of fashion is a smart move. This is clearly Chanel, but the pieces are ultra-wearable. I think that's the best thing Viard can do for the legacy...keep the people IN Chanel. If they think people will recognize it, they will wear it. Karl was really pushing Chanel into the post-millennial market with an experimental-yet-slightly junior aesthetic, and while I can't relate....I understood. This is much less youthful, and definitely less visionary, but its where Chanel needs to be right now. Especially when it comes to Cruise. Well done.
@@alicelu5691 I disagree....the "looks" may be less lux...but the pieces are still high caliber. That's what the buyers, editors and clients care about anyway. People who watch high fashion for UA-cam and can't afford it are generally focused on the styling, production and models.

It was an "okay" collection there were some cute looks and some chic looks in there. Not a big fan of legging-like pants~ look slightly cheap but most other things were highly wearable.
Great collection! I saw some pic from the collection on internet that i didnt like. When i saw the video from the collection i loved it!!!! It is for all ages to wear, but so modern that includes the new generation comfort and concept. Always a fan of big C!!!!!
I saw a lot of comments (on instragram) about this collection being way too colorful, indeed it is if u compare it with Karl latest collections, but that's also how Lagerfeld started at Chanel, putting color in everything, making clothes with a seductive yet classical look, just with the point of resurrect and drive attention to a dying French house. In this case, Virginie commands an established house that needed a breath of fresh air.

I think they are in good hands. Dare I say it's a collection that any woman at any age can and will want to wear. It felt fresh,light and fun. The use of different fabrics to represent the "Jacket",Nice~~the new take on Palasso pants or goucho pants spot on. The big bow worked in some places and at others didn't and the slash in the pants, essentially feeling' it but put the seam back and you have a winner. The biker shorts carried over from Fendi, worked really well hear,especially in the tweed and the Cardigan is back for sure. Length variations made this another winner to dress up or down. I was happy while watching this Collection come down the Catwalk. The only thing that would have sealed the deal for me would have been to see the expressions on the models be a little lighter but that really doesn't reflect on the clothes just my prefaence. I commend Virgine for designing this collection with her own stamp on what woman want to wear. She is realistic,hopefully and joyfull and not over the top.

This collection my appeal also to those who are not experts in the subject matter, but who would like to wear some Chanel style garment, because there are many wearable pieces in this collection with the distinct and unique style. Though high couture is not intended to be "massive " production, there is no fashion without consumers. New era! Well done!
