    It is a beautiful song and is still very relevant today, sadly! Thanks for the reactions.

    Freddie and Brian performed that song at the end of Live Aid. ❤️❤️

    The most heart touching song ever, at least for me.

    This song was written by Freddie and Brian before Live Aid. The message of the song is simple and profound. It's sad to think but this is still happening today. As I always say when I watch Freddie and Brian play together, Brian's guitar playing is great and Freddie's voice and singing are amazing, you will feel it in your heart! Excellent duo. Talents you can't just ignore. Thank you Justin❤👑

    This was a great song and turned out to be just absolutely perfect for Live Aid cat the end of the concert.

    It was rare for Queen to write a "message song". This one was actually ispired by the reports of the terrible famine in Ethiopa. It was before Live Aid was conceived, but it turned out to be perfect. Brian and Freddie came back on stage at 948 P.M and performed it just before the finale.

    At the end of Live Aid this song by Brian and Freddie was a great way to close the concert and it was fantastic. It was better but not my much. Huge crowd and you could hear a pin drop.

    They had space at the end of the works album for a small track so they came up with this .
    You would have thought it was wrote for live aid . It was performed at live aid , but much later in the evening.

    Brian uses Chet Atkins CE Classical guitar by Gibson! Also react to Chet Atkins guitar playing, he is a legend and influenced many guitarists, especially those who play fingerstyle, like Tommy Emmanuel!

    For awhile the Live Aid video included this attached to the main set. Written before Live Aid it was a perfect fit. Brian used a 12 string then, but not here (if my eyes are correct).

    Some facts about the song:
    When the band was checking all the songs they had for the album The Works, they realized that a slow ballad was needed to finish it.The lack of time forced Brian and Freddie to put egos aside, sit down and write the song together. Unusually, Freddie came up with the lyrics and Brian came up with the chords.
    Fanny fact.
    Once, an interviewer said to Freddie:
    - " You co-wrote a song with Brian on this album"
    And Freddie answer was: - "I know. There should be an eclipse!"😂😂

    Freddie struggeling between octaves in the first chorus is just sad to see. You'll notice when you hear the studio version which is perfectly sung.

    • @tommyzoo
      @tommyzoo Місяць тому +6

      not sad at all. He changed his octaves many time live. This was a massive tour with each show lasting two hours belting out some really tough songs on the vocal chords. I doubt a single person that day felt let down or thought it was sad. I certainly didn't and I was at the very last show at Knebworth

      That's why I prefer Live Aid version of this song which is perfect

    • @reggiestan
      @reggiestan Місяць тому +1

      Agreed. If you have seen Queen shows over the years he frequently moved to a lower register mid song, I think, to preserve his voice during tours. Remember he used to always give 110% during live shows which comes at a cost. @@tommyzoo

    • @Panda_man..
      @Panda_man.. Місяць тому

      @@reggiestan that is correct. Over the years he would change the way the song is originally done in order to preserve his voice throughout the tour.

      How is he struggling? It did always seem as if he had to really concentrate on singing the very low C#3 note . His C#3 is more resonant here than at Live Aid. But most tenors would struggle with that section, it is a big jump from the middle register to the very low part of tenor register. This song is somewhat low on many parts. Freddie practically never sang lower than D3 live.
