  • ⚙️ SHOW NOTES - EPISODE #185: There are many ways to curve wood, but one of the most fun is also rooted in an Eighteen Century furniture technique called Bricklaying. Although it should be avoided on the basketball court, bricklaying is perfectly at home in the woodworking shop. In fact, using this approach, you can be sawing out classic curves. In this episode I show you a few variations and my methods for easily making curves in wood. And did I mention it’s fun too?!

That was a very cool technique with the bandsaw. Nice job trying that live. Well done.

Your opening always make me smile, turning on the computer Friday Mornings, before heading out for chores. Then I program a moment later in the day to watch the content. Cheers...rr Normandy, Fra.

This was another great episode. I appreciate you teaching the techniques of the old masters. Also wanted to thank you for doing your videos live too. The more you engage the audience the easier it is for me to understand some of the more complicated techniques. It’s also more enjoyable. I was disappointed when I saw that you started editing your videos so I had to get used to that. Anyway thanks for your hard work!

Great video. LOVE that bandsaw technique for large rings.
One can also set up a template to cut the inside and outside curves of each segment after they have been cut to the proper angle and length. Then glue them up as usual. The resulting ring will be easy to true up.

You spend an inordinate amount of talking. It gets to be annoying.

Yes, point well taken. I would not talk as much if these videos were not recorded live. This is part of our Shop Night Live series, a free livestream we do every Thursday night where it’s naturally more conversational like real life, and viewers get to chat in questions live as well. Maybe you would enjoy the live experience more, it would be great to have you part of it. If interested you can check out how to find the link at our website epicwoodworking.com. Thanks for watching and hanging in there even when it gets annoying, I know I can be that at times…as much as I try not to be 😎 Hope you can join us 👍

@EpicWoodworking well, on the plus side, I enjoyed your solution to the inside circle cutting.
