I really appreciate this video. I consider myself pretty handy and I had my wiper motor go out, I changed the motor and linkage. I can see everything working before I put the wipers on but as soon as I put the wipers on, the wipers don't move. The motor is working and the linkage is trying to move but the wipers jump but they don't move. Any advice? I can't believe wipers are getting the best of me.
Nice tip on the ribbing and why I couldn't pull mine up after removing the nut but damn bro, you about busted your windshield there. maybe a towel or mat for protection?
Mark the post top, then down the threads and mark the wiper arm one continuous marking to replace the arm easily. I would not recommend using a hammer against the windshield, it may work. But it may not. Metal and glass
So after doing this I bought brand new wiper arms, that dont have the spline pattern already tapped into the hole where they slide on. The stalks of the wiper transmission of course do. Is it same procedure or am I then going to strip the stalks on the transmission? Not sure how to attach them…
I am having a hell of a hard time finding windshield wiper arms that have the rivits, I've got a 2000 blazer, and all the replacement I've found no longer have rivets.
Hi, can someone please help me I’m desperate I have a 2004 Volvo XC 90 I have done this exact procedure but when I turn the wipers on and they stop they keep stopping in the up position. I’ve been working on cars for 20 years and I cannot figure out why the hell it’s doing this??????
Has this done at the shop, and when i picked it up there was a nice quarter size chuck taken out of the paint onnthe hood, how do u think that happened?
I don’t recommend the hammer I did it and cracked my windshield but I used the fancy tool and took it off just remember when removing the arm you have to lift the wipers and pull
For those cracking their windshields, throw some cardboard and a rolled up rag anywhere you might hit the glass. There is no reason you should be breaking windshields with this method?
1. using a hammer is dangerous for your windshield. 2. You have to make sure that you put the arm on the toothed bolt correct othervice you damage the arms teeth
First of all, it`s called a nut not a bolt. Inside of the wiper arm hole and the shaft are splines - not rivets. You are damn lucky you didn`t crack the windshield doing it this way. Very, very poor video! Guys - DO NOT use this method!
After watching this video I have no idea how mine flew off onto the road while it was storming. Thanks for the video.

I don't think that any person in the world could have explained that process more precise or clearer than you just did.. Thanks for your effort.

Lucky you didn't crack your windscreen when forcing the hammer against it to remover the wiper
Thank you so much!! I’ve searched for this so many times & you’re the only one who helped
Glad I could help!
It’s a miracle you didn’t bust your windshield out using a claw hammer in place of a puller.

Thanks for the video.
BTW, that's a nut, not a bolt you removed. Also the groves on the shaft are called splines, not rivet thingys.
Thanks man, this was helpful

Amazing video
Thanks!
Brilliant! Maybe put a pad between the hammer and the glass.

Yes

I need the nut that holds the wiper arm on mine keeps getting loose
Some penetrant on the splines could be helpful if you have time.

Where’s the best place to get the arm?
Junk yard or ebay. Glad could help Please subscribe like and share 🙏.
What should the nut be torqued at for reassembly?
"Don't use hammer unless very steady handed"? Is that because you risk breaking the windshield?
Bro... instead of hammer just use wd40 or something to loosen the bolt
For those cracking their windshields, throw some cardboard and a rolled up rag anywhere you might hit the glass. There is no reason you should be breaking windshields with this method?
Thanks man I got to switch mine out . An ex gf broke them off so I had to buy new wiper arms lol

It’s a Nut. Not a bolt.
lefty loosy righty tighty
The hammer didn’t work. I gotta find away to get these things off or I won’t have wipers
I replaced that already with used one
