Good video Abbie ....did this walk yesterday but started it from Coniston...brilliant...except when I got to Brown pike my legs were aching really bad and by the time I got back to Coniston I could hardly walk. Mind you I'm 62..but still enjoyed it. Thanks.
Hello Abbie,I don’t think you realise how effective your switch of speech modes are!Very professional approach to making such fabulous videos!Absolutely huge well done to you!
A little breezy but at least you got the views from the Old Man. A great place to explore around all of the old workings and on those quiet days you can almost hear the hammers fall on the slate. Great video and thanks for taking us along.
Seems every time I search up a new adventure iv herd of you have done them and made a video 👌🏽 grate videos as always thank you for your inspiration and videos 😊👍🏽
When I climb Coniston Old Man via the mine workings I always visit what I think is the motor housing that says ‘Bramley Engineering’ on it. I’m from Leeds and Bramley is the district of Leeds where my wife grew up! Not sure the engineering company still exists, but I’m always happy to see the housing!
Hey Abbie, I was already hoping you would visit Coniston Old Man in one of your walks! Have you seen the Time Team episode in which they excavate the Elizabethan copper mines around Levers Water? It's titled 'Lost Mines of Lakeland' and gives a detailed insight into the lives of the miners that worked for all those years in this beautiful but unforgiving landscape. Anyway, thanks for taking us with you on yet another wonderful hike in these blustery conditions!
Bright and breezy Abbie. Always a pleasure to "walk" with you. Looks like a plan for next time we're in the Lakes. So lucky to have so many fantastic walks in Britain. Thanks for giving me itchy feet. Stay Wild.
Quite possibly the most stunning video on UA-cam. Absolutely everything. Brilliant blue skies transform into brutal grey cloudscapez. Open, green hillsides become rough, grey ridges. Your vidoes are inspirational to me. I only an hour away from the Lakes and hope that one day our paths will cross
Brilliant film Abbie. Really enjoyed our walk. I've done exactly the same walk, without the wind and the snake though! Lovely to see you so happy in the environment you obviously adore. On to next one.
Did the old man with my parents in my 20's but my knees have gone now and to climb this will be very painful now but I want to do this with my daughter so on 24th October I am going to try with her. I won't show her this amazing video in case we can't try due to weather. Fabulous video.
We recently went up The Old Man of Coniston and seeing the Slate mine was such an amazing insight into the industrial past of the area. The views are spectacular. It may be one of my favourite mountains I've climbed!
Glad you experienced a clear day up there, that mountain has just about everything to offer us walkers. We’ve done some fantastic wild camps on there and the surrounding fells. You did a great job of the narration and some interesting information. Regards.
Great video. Liked the snake out in the open. Hope you have many more walk in the area. Cell phone service must be a challenge in an area with so many hills and Val,eys.
I have walked in the Lake District but for some inexplicable reason I haven't "done" the "Old Man". Clearly one to "adder" (oops...sorry!) to my bucket list! As usual, a great video. Thanks.
Ah Abbie - we almost did Dow Cragg last week - we went in reverse to your route - time proved to be our enemy and didnt quite make it. Hope to go again next year for attempt number 2! Old Man is too much for our knees unfortunately x
Love the video Abbie!! Coniston Old Man was my second Wainwright and I did the route up you did (although I did start in Coniston Village) and went onto Brim Fell and Swirl How. It was on a cold February day but clear and it was amazing!! 😁⛰ Keep up the amazing work! Loving watching you in your adventures 😁👏🏻
Never been up Coniston Old Man before, so I particularly enjoyed this one. It looked a great path to walk on allowing time to admire the views, rather than constantly watch were you put you feet. I loved the ridge walk over to Dow Crag, Buck Pike and Brown Pike, a definite walk for me in the New Year. What a great day, although, not too keen on that adder mind, cheers Alan
Your thumbnails and intro are so amazing please please please never change them you inspired me to go on a 500 mile walk and for that I can’t thank you enough but I didn’t know we had venomous snacks 😟
Love your videos and this video is such a lovely one to watch whilst my mind wanders and imagines what it would have been like to do my DofE Gold Assessed expedition which was unexpectedly cancelled by my centre in and around Coniston starting at the YHA
Great video, thanks for taking the time to make it. Do you have a route file you can share starting with the place you parked, as would really like to do this route this weekend.
I climbed Helvellyn in much the same conditions as you did this walk. When I climbed The Old Man conditions were good and clear although later they deteriorated cloud and drizzle came in quickly. Did the same loop as you. I think those mines should be cleared up and the hills returned to their natural state as far as is possible. They are a scar on the landscape of the hills.
My fav place in the UK Coniston is incredible, thanks so much for this video Abs, have you done Malvern Hills? would love to see you there one day, take care and Happy WALKING :D
Hi Abbie, I'm taking my 6-year-old daughter to Old Man in a couple of weeks. Could you please share the coordinates to the car park? If OK... Many thanks!
Hi I don't know if you have the chance to reply to people questions . But what do you use for your driving scenes ? What camera and how is it kept steady ? David.
When I was about 10 we set out to climb Old Man, got SO lost in the fog, and, hours later, ended up on the top of Weatherlam somehow. Good times.
Just returned from Old man, really interesting walk with sublime views on summit.
Thankyou for really informative video.
Inspiring lady... Awesome energy... uplifting. Thank you for sharing your day...
How lucky are you, I've walked the hills for 30 years and never seen an adder, brilliant video Abbie.
This has inspired me and i am going to go in the morning! thank you.
You got this!
Absolutely love your videos 🥰👌🏽

Many great memories of the Old Man, thank you for refreshing them and bringing them back to mind :o)

always love your vids....Coniston is one of my faves.
Needed a video to brighten my morning and look what I come across. Well done Abbie, brilliant 😊. Stay Wild!
Really enjoyed that one Abbie. Keep them coming.
WoW how lucky were you seeing a snake 😀 x great video as usual 👌

You did an excellent job of that film. And super lucky to see that adder. I’ve camped up there and never seen one
Great walk, and views, Abbie. Seeing that Adder was a bonus. 👍☺
great vid. Ive not been here before, so really enjoyed it. thanks for sharing

Thanks for sharing Abbie. You’re a gritty young woman.

Thanks for this Abbie. My early morning Lakes fix! Hoping to head up in half term. Ambleside rather than Keswick as I’ve overdosed on the latter!
Fantastic, I've a strange attraction to the twisted beauty of abandoned industrial infrastructure, this walk is now a must for me, thanks Abbie
What a beautiful day for it, I cant imagine the effort that went into building them mines so high up back in them days. Absolutely incredible.
Me and a buddy are walking this route in a few weeks! Great video Abbie as always, thank you for taking us along.

I did the old man a couple of years ago and still the tallest I've done but absolutely loved it. Great vid
Stunning video!
Loved this thank you ❤
Brings more meaning to the term 'snakes and ladders'. Great video Abbie! x
Done this walk twice. Lovely walk.
Another great walk Abbie. I included Dow Crag and The Old Man in a walk a few weeks ago and it was blowing a hoodie for me too. Great fun though 🙂👍
Stunning views once again Abbie, thanks so much :)
Fab Abbie! You're so inspiring thank you !!! ❤️
Great following you Abbie. Loved the walk and views. I was surprised you fitted in another walk after completing the RRW. Well done.
This was May 2019 :)
Nice video Abby. A great thanks from Holland.
Another excellent video please keep up the good work.
Great work Abbie , love the intro music
Ahh amazing. Did this earlier in the year in the snow. An epic walk. Nice one!
I have walked in the Lake District but for some inexplicable reason I haven't "done" the "Old Man". Clearly one to "adder" (oops...sorry!) to my bucket list! As usual, a great video. Thanks.

I enjoy all your videos but this was really great as it’s the exact route we did recently (we were luckier with the weather!) Thank you 💕
Wow lovely views , done this walk a few years ago ... I was lucky to have great weather too 😎😎

Delightful, you are!
You might enjoy the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska/Canada, with the historical significance and artifacts along the trail.
Nice video.my first climb was the old man .!
Lovely to watch your videos stuck in the house with the flu
Magic.
Your thumbnails and intro are so amazing please please please never change them you inspired me to go on a 500 mile walk and for that I can’t thank you enough but I didn’t know we had venomous snacks 😟
Yeah the ones from Pret a Manger will kill you.
Been up there today via Goats Water. Very wet and cloudy but brightened up on the way down Walnar Scar. Doesn’t it always 🌧😂
Love your videos and this video is such a lovely one to watch whilst my mind wanders and imagines what it would have been like to do my DofE Gold Assessed expedition which was unexpectedly cancelled by my centre in and around Coniston starting at the YHA
For my practice in Brecon I tied my hat to my rucksack to stop it keep getting blown away!
Great video, thanks for taking the time to make it. Do you have a route file you can share starting with the place you parked, as would really like to do this route this weekend.
I haven't done this before but will explore the option in the future!
Great!!
My Dad climbed this with his Dad back in the 1950s, he only just told me when I sent him this video, I will have to climb this soon.
Hi. Great video, but can you give me an approx. map ref. for where you parked? I can't see the car park on the OS map.
You are my hero. Did Thoren Oakenshield pop out of the minds and discuss with you the quality of the rock?
You are so cool love your videos. I now need to go up the mines for some photos. Can I ask where did you park
Incredible job with the audio in that wind, Abbie. I'm not sure what mic you are using, but that was great. Love your videos! 👍🙂
Very glad I live in Ireland. No snakes 👀
My fav place in the UK Coniston is incredible, thanks so much for this video Abs, have you done Malvern Hills? would love to see you there one day, take care and Happy WALKING :D
It's nice to see the "found shades" are still making an appearance lol
Hi Abbie, I'm taking my 6-year-old daughter to Old Man in a couple of weeks. Could you please share the coordinates to the car park? If OK... Many thanks!
Where abouts is the car park you used?? Or if anyone else knows? Thanks
Seen an adder dead before near grizedale forest
Hi I don't know if you have the chance to reply to people questions . But what do you use for your driving scenes ? What camera and how is it kept steady ? David.
I just use my GoPro 7 mounted on the dashboard. No stabiliser needed.
@@AbbieBarnesWILD Thank you very nice of you to reply Abbie
Brilliant.
Car park postcode please?🤝👍
Great video! You are the female Bear Grylls!
Great video, going to take my girlfriend on this route.
cowboy hats used to have a pull up cord and toggle , that would keep your hat on in the wind
Where did you park sorry
Walna scar Road:)
Morning 'you'😂
How do you have the time and money to keep driving to the lake district?
I dont. I go once a year :)
@@AbbieBarnesWILD oh how long you go for? You get a lot done haha

🙄Wow
