What could've been a masterpiece back on its era, that was unfortunately cancelled in favor of Star Fox 64, which shares many of the gameplay elements in here. However, Nintendo repicked this title and included it in their SNES Mini units as an unlockable title, 22 years later. When you start the game, you have three difficulty choices, with Expert being the most complete because you get to explore all planets and fight against the whole Star Wolf team. Also that you have the choice to select the main pilot and their ally, who serves as a backup pilot in case the main one is killed or as an alternate pilot by pressing Select at the map screen. Each planet has two minibosses aside from the Core boss, these minibosses are randomly selected as a curious fact. The few others that didn't make into the main playthrough are in the extras section. I also included the location of every single Pepper Medal, I am pretty sure the locations are the same for all three difficulties, though only on Expert they can be found in one playthrough. Collecting them all enables the Secret Base for the difficulty choice where you completed the medal quest. This secret area not only has powerups and energy refills, but also a special Homing powerup for the charged laser. Overall, a masterpiece I highly recommend playing, either on the SNES Mini or via the Switch Online service.
The game was made to "teach Sony a lesson" on how to make 3D games, but upon seeing the power of the Play Station, Miyamoto himself was ashamed to show this game. Only the fact that 30 years have passed since those events saves them.
It's so weird to live in a world where starfox 2 is a real game you can purchase. It's great to see a canceled game finally get officially released after so long
You know what’s awesome about this game, the fact that only *two pilots* are dealing with everything Andross is throwing their way That’s pretty badass
This masterpiece of a gem was long lost back in the original days it was supposed to be released (in 1996), but thank God we did eventually get to play this in the SNES Classic and Switch Online. I understand the reason why Star Fox 2 was cancelled in favor of Star Fox 64 due to the PS1, but Nintendo should let it be, anyway. I did play this before and beaten it 100%. What I actually love about this game is not only Star Fox 2 pushed the Super NES graphics all the way to MAX, but you can actually make Falco take out Andross himself - something no other game in the series ever done. It was indeed better than the first game. Fun fact: Yoshi's Island uses the same Super FX 2 chip as this game, meaning that 2D platformer was already capable of doing THIS in processing power, but kept polygons to bare minimum in favor of sprite scaling.
Funny how some of ideas from this game were implemented in future Star Fox games. Shooting down missiles in pretty much every major one (64, Assault, Command), the walker that was used in Star Fox Zero... guess we have this game to thank for those.
It just shows revelations still matter in the beutiful world of gaming and STARFOX. Felt it got better like wine. Released and still a great revelated game💪❤️
Hell yes!!!! I love the cover. I also loved playing this on the Switch. Can't wait to check it out here as I was kind of confused about the pathing options when I played myself haha.
Originally a game that was never released in 1996, it was finally available in 2017 on the SNES Classic! The official sequel of Star Fox is actually pretty good! It’s not as perfect as Star Fox 64… but it’s still a decent and fun experience!
It was because Nintendo believed the 3D graphics of the expensive Super FX 2 chip looked pale compared to the PS1 and Sega Saturn which would hurt sales, plus the N64 was on its way, so they cancelled it until now, in favor of Star Fox 64.

I managed to do that, though it was a pain.
Playing on Super Famicom all SD2SNESPRO/mk3's fault. Cheers bud

"I will demonstrate my awesome power on all of Lylat!"
Andross is such a goof
Been waiting for this one. Wish this actually released during the SNES days
I know right...
It's amazing to see just how advanced this game was for it's time
For some reason I like how the fan-translated online ROMhack used the term ‘IPBM’ instead of just ‘missile’.

Thx for all that info:)
SF2 was not a masterpiece. I am glad it was canceled.

I hope Universal and Illumination make a Star Fox movie
You know what….I hope so too.

As long as they don't make it another isekai.

I cant believe nintendo thought no one would want this game. Its one of the best games ive ever played.
A great sequel, hopefully Nintendo will make a third and not another “remake” or prequel like Star Fox 64 (?) or Star Fox Zero.

The best sequel that we never got until recently on Snes Mini
Man!!! The good old days😅
Star Fox 2 is released in Super NES Classic Edition on Friday 9/29/2017.
It was originally planned for 1995 or '96, however.
The sequel we NEVER got!
It was FINALLY released on the SNES mini.
@@emmajade9507 YES!! FINALLY!
@@Angie2343 It's on SNES - Nintendo Switch Online, too!
@@emmajade9507Tell me about it, over TWO DECADES after it was supposed to come out!
Before we graduated high school
The game Star Fox 2 this game was unreleased on 1996 until the SNES Classic on September 17, 2017
This game wouldve been instant classic had it been released on the SNES

Nintendo, you never fail to amaze us with 3D graphics
The way the Walker moves looks a bit creepy.
And I don’t think it would work with better graphics, because more detailed wings would obviously be too thin to also double as legs or feet.
Never actually got to play this one. Surprised it wasn’t more popular growing up. I’ve got it on my snes mini but it has to be unlocked.🐸🍺🔪🔥
This was never released back in the 90s in favor of StR Fox on the N64.
Dude, NOBODY played this game until recent years when somebody can actually could on the SNES Classic.
Makes sense. I like the n64 version the best.🐸
I suppose this has the Super FX chip.
Whatever the case may be, it's still impressive.
It's the Super FX 2
It feels like a decay from the original Star Fox
Why didnt you move the Great Fox to a different planet at any point? Is there some strategic reason?
I was looking forward to playing this game but it was a big disappointment.
It doesn’t have the action of the original Star Fox or of Star Fox 64.
STARFOX 2 Is On The SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM CLASSIC EDITION.
Biggest mistake they did was to change the play mechanic that made the first one so special.
Tudo que tem na claro

Awesomeness video please do tee off for sega dreamcast please thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wonder what would happen if you "S Ranked" or maxed out the scoring bar on Expert.
Zastanawiam się dlaczego nie zrobili star Fox na Konsolę PlayStation 3,4&5😊
So Star Fox Command was recycled from this.
Why Wasn't This Game Released in The 1990’s 🤦🏽

I see why the game was cancelled. This game would get boring quickly.
