Quantum Information Science - Dr. Gerald Gilbert

Dr. Gerald Gilbert, Chief Scientist and Director for Quantum Systems, leads at the Corporate level all MITRE research in this area. He is the founder of the Quantum Information Science Program at MITRE, founder of the MITRE Quantum Information Science Group and has been Principal Investigator of the MITRE Quantum Information Science Research Project since its inception.

As a layperson, the best way I can "grasp" entanglement is simply to flip the perspective of the entanglement from the photons themselves.
From our perspective we can introduce distance and time delay (because of the distance) between entangled photons.
But from a photos perspective, time and distance don't exist, they're zero. So from its perspective, it's not been "separated" it always exists as a single entity for its infinitesimal existence, and therefore its state(s) are inseparable.

He knows something we can not understand, but the button that he's holding in his own hands is enigma to him. It could as well be the lost button to release the nuclear weapons towards quantum side of the problem in order to clear things up a bit.

It was avery interesting lecture.
When watching this I began to wonder if we can get a more intuitive understanding of QM. Like in the presentation was said, we only have understanding through instruments and calculations. Maybe we will develop some context in which QM becomes more intuitive. There are lots of unintuitive concepts, which can be understood in certain context through practice. The prime example are rotations. The gyroscopes or other rotation based mechanism are very unintuitive and need quite a lot of time to click. We may also pick piloting a plane or a helicopter as an example. I belive that understanding is made by seeing the same concept in different contextes (plurar of contex) and making an representation invariant to the change of context, but also modeling interactions between internal representation and context. The question is if we have rich enough interactions with a concept to properly internalize it. I think it is a matter of time until we get enough experience with QM systems to develop proper understanding. If QM is not part of our physical life we have to make it a part of physical life.
