      Please say no to damaging environmental projects in dry savannah, scrub and grassland type habitat. Please remember that these habitats are far more threatened in India than closed canopy forests. The planned Pune airport near Saswad will seriously threaten one of the few surviving wolf populations in the district. It should be opposed tooth and nail.

    So sad these majestic animals have been killed ruthlessly across the globe. I hope we protect them and their range just like tigers 🐯 and elephants 🐘 are being protected!

      Sadly their habitat is being destroyed every year. Even in the place where we shot this video their grasslands are "harvested" by the government itself for cattle ! Without grass cover their prey suffers and they also suffer :(

    How can we as team come together and reach out to create an impact of conservation.? What are the steps required to persuade the Indian governments to look into this issue and work towards this problem? Which are the organisations across the country who work for this cause?

    • @KNFngo
      @KNFngo  3 роки тому +3

      In our opinion we need some fundamental changes in the way we live on this planet. Endless growth on a finite planet is never sustainable. All organisations can do nothing as long we exponentially continue to consume. We are 140 crores and increasing and our consumption like western societies is only now starting. We have literally removed wildlife from being part of life to so called wildlife reserves which by the way humans continue to exploit. Even in these grasslands where we filmed the wolf , grass is cut commercially ! For wolves which rely on grass cover for stealth what does it mean ? Quite frankly conservation talk has been going on for years and nothing really changes on the ground.

      Thanks a lot for your appreciating words! We are also trying to do these wildlife videos for conservation efforts. Its high time people understand their ecosystem and try to protect what is left in this natural world. Most of the grasslands are erased from this world leaving these poor animals with no home and thus these also getting endangered.

Please remember that these habitats are far more threatened in India than closed canopy forests. The planned Pune airport near Saswad will seriously threaten one of the few surviving wolf populations in the district. It should be opposed tooth and nail. Wolves, GIBs, lesser floricans and many other species are threatened by the destruction of dry grasslands. Also please spare a thought for the nomadic pastoralists whose livelihoods are intimately tied to such landscapes. They represent a unique culture, which must be safeguarded against rapacious commercial agriculture.

    • @KNFngo
      @KNFngo  4 роки тому +5

      Almost all the grasslands are gone in India. Even in this location where we filmed the wolf, the grass is commercially cut leaving birds like Floricans little places to hide. There seems to be no end to the economic exploitation of the planet. we posted a picture of the grass being cut in our blog.

      Being the original ancestors of dogs , wolves as well as foxes and jackals can breed with dogs. This often happens in forest fringes where feral dogs roam around but wolves being bigger than feral dogs often kill the domesticated ones.

      @Shivam Joshi Free ranging dogs should be culled in and around wildlife habitat. They're a huge threat to children and livestock as well. Often more so than wild carnivores, which are unnecessarily demonized.

      I don't think this issue is known among the educated city dwellers. I came to know about them a few days back when I was researching on wolves and was surprised to learn that something like these exist in the drylands of India. As an unaware person they can be mistaken for coyotes and killed.
