These babies are such a gift. I really do hope they beat the odds and all survive to adulthood.
Unfortunately the odds of that happening aren’t very good. Bears this comfortable around humans are bound to come across the wrong one or the bears (and or) humans actions are misconstrued.
50/50 when 4 are involved... Simone is a brilliant mother, so let's hope for the best.

For a whole variety of reasons from illness to traffic, humans, and male bears looking to mate will remove cubs... it's a tough old world out there for the Bear family. 💚🐻

This relationship can get dangerous. I’m worried, for real. Bears are really strong. It’s not good to project human feelings onto animals. They don’t have a full fridge in the end of the day, they hunt for food.

Having four cubs to feed as well as herself is likely rather stressful, especially since it's a little early for berries or fruit...I hope they're getting enough to eat....!
I know I feel for her. She must be hungry and stressed. I wish someone would put some fruit out the back for her. So much fruit goes to waste , she doesn’t need to know it came from humans I’m sure her nose will find it.

Simone feels like having some bird food snack and was not happy at the lack of it. As she is smart, she knows where the snack is kept, so she wanted to try to get it herself, clever girl😊 The Little Ninjas are growing very fast 🙂 Thank you for sharing Patrick.

She seemed unsettled today, she was scenting the breeze before she disappeared behind the fence. Bears are aware of the world around them in ways different from ours. Take care, Mr. Patrick.
There are whole worlds that they experience that we don't (scent and sound and the Jacobson's organ, plus possibly touch). We are very deficient compared to them and other mammals.

Is Simone in the process of weaning the Crew? They're around that age, I think: 6-8 months. That might be why they're trying to nurse and she's not letting them.

There are actually people on the Internet, that allow bears to enter their house, and roam around!..It freaks me out.
One cub was suckling but she cut it off short. She's not on the mood for feeding them milk just yet but it surely looks like they want some milk. The brown cub 🧸always tried to get a cool 🆒 swim in the water bowl and he's not shy about doing it. He knows it's so warm Outside. ❤❤❤❤❤

Aha! Simone stashed the kids in the woods and had planned to go into Uncle Patrick's house to take a snooze/relax. He rightly put a stop to that idea. As much as I wanted to see Simone nursing her cubs, it is good she refused. It is so much better to feed them away from humans and in quieter surroundings(no barking dogs nearby). Thanks for the visit, beautiful family and thanks for sharing the video, Patrick.
Mom Simone was healthy enough to have 4 cubs which is amazing. She comes to you for the birdseed to keep her healthy enough to nurse. You are blessed. Her environment is so small and is over run with pesticides. Please just give her the birdseed. If she could find it elsewhere she would. Be kind.

I thought the same. Simone is looking tired from mommying the little rascals also. Trying to wean all four and teach them how to search for food and shelter has to be hard.
It's so fascinating to watch the cubs learning from mama Simone on what's good to eat. Was surprised to see Simone being so bold, trying to get into the house.
Momma is hungry. She smells you dinner/lunch. Won’t be long before she does not listen and just goes in the house. Might want to switch back to the bird seed being available. She has gotten use to that so at least that would pacify her for now. A hungry nursing momma could get ugly. Just a thought having lived for 8 years on top of a mountain completely surrounded by National Forest and bears in our yard/orchard on the regular.

I see that the dog alarms are proliferating in the neighborhood. It's like Ring cameras: one neighbor gets one and then everyone has them.
Simone thinks she can open the front door the way she does the car doors. Might be time to set up a second latch/lock for it just in case she decides to visit at night while you guys are sleeping.
I'd like to think I'd be as calm as you are when Simone comes up so close, but I don't think I could.

Fav video so far was when either Milo or Luca scared themselves with the rocking chair - I keep expecting you to come out on the porch and see all the chairs with bears rocking in them 🐻😂 with coffee, cake and some with a cigar

Poor Simone she was hungry and there was no food 🙁 then those precious babies come out and she has no food to give them but they were still happy and scampering around 😊. I loved seeing them around the water with one inside and the other when she fell over lol that was cute.
That’s a first for me Patrick. Never seen any cubs suckling and making that noise before. Almost Star Wars vibes 😂. She’s obviously running dry, or, VERY sore 😢
