The fact that any actor could do a good job working with a fellow actor who has personal hygiene issues is amazing to me. It would probably be impossible for me to not make that face that we all make when we can’t stand the smell of something or someone if I had to work closely with someone who reeked. These actors seemed like they had a lack of consideration for others.
They were rich, spoiled, & very catered to. To a lot of them, their entire world was all about me, Me, MEEEEEE! I doubt they gave a toss if their gross habit’s inconvenienced others. 🤷🏼♀️

It took a lot of work and ti.e to heat water etc. Systems were not as efficient. Skin and hair were not stripped of natural oils so were much healthier.. there were exceptions of course. People didn't smell or perhaps we didn't notice e since everyone lived the same. Brushing teeth was important once or twice a day. Tooth powder , baking soda with or without salt. O fluoride. Toothpaste.

Nowadays, missing a daily shower is a very rare occurrence for most of us.
In my mum's and dad house in the 1950's the water was heated on the old fashioned coal fired range, because we couldn't afford the shilling for the gas meter to use gas the boiler. Our bath was also taken in front of that range to keep warm in a large galvanised bath.
There are actors today known for bad hygiene like Jennifer Lawrence, Ben Affleck, Shia LaBeouf etc. Also Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis admit a bit of bad hygiene
There was a dude in my platoon when I was in the Marines who never bathed or brushed his teeth, and chain smoked. We called him "Crusty Rusty" because of his red hair.
Working 12-16 hours a day straight often left little time. Hygiene became secondary. Also, some people simply have stronger body orders regardless of bathing or hygiene, they can't help it.
Ill give people back then an excuse, hygiene wasn't that important back then and people didn't bathe that often because it was believed to save water consumption, it really didn't change until the 60s and 70s. Technology in hygiene products got significantly better as time wore on. Some people who even bathe intensely back then like Joan Crawford probably had a hereditary condition that forced her to shower multiple times a day to get the stink off of her.
I can't let y'all do Miss Joan Crawford like that now..... This woman literally had OCD I find it hard to believe that she was going around stankin. Her own daughter said she showered 3 and 4 times a day and the daughter doesn't even like her 😂 I distinctly remember that from the book

All actors have a complaint about other actors, urine breath , no deodorant, alcohol, cigarettes, no shower. Some people have fish smell but that's a condition.

Back then the only gum available that did not gum up all over your dentures and make a gooie mess was denteen brand .cinnamon flavor . My grandmother used it.
Many many many women don’t wash their hair every day, every other day, and even every three days. Why? Because hair can become unruly when it’s stripped of its natural oils. Can it become smelly? Sure, if you’re working out every day, Hanging out in Smok field , etc. but for the most part, no it does not smell after a week. Those who don’t see hair as a big part of their image won’t understand that dirty hair is a good base for great hair styles-it behaves, dies what you want it to do. It’s soft n silky, not dry and unruly. We’re not talking about teenage greasy hair we’re talking about women’s hair. Hope that helps put the dirty hair scandal to rest. When it comes to bathing, I think if you have a healthy diet and you’re not working up, a sweat you can go a day maybe even to without a bath. What’s the big deal? Let’s praise their accomplishments and worry less about smokers breath, or armpit odor. Live and let live❤️

It can be a bacteria called H. Pylori, which can contribute to stomach ulcers as well as cause bad breath. Also, acid reflux can be the culprit.

Many many many women don’t wash their hair every day, every other day, and even every three days. Why? Because hair can become unruly when it’s stripped of its natural oils. Can it become smelly? Sure, if you’re working out every day, Hanging out in Smok field , etc. but for the most part, no it does not smell after a week. Those who don’t see hair as a big part of their image won’t understand that dirty hair is a good base for great hair styles-it behaves, dies what you want it to do. It’s soft n silky, not dry and unruly. We’re not talking about teenage greasy hair we’re talking about women’s hair.
Hope that helps put the dirty hair scandal to rest. When it comes to bathing, I think if you have a healthy diet and you’re not working up, a sweat you can go a day maybe even to without a bath. What’s the big deal? Let’s praise their accomplishments and worry less about smokers breath, or armpit odor. Live and let live❤️
