  • On a recent trio to Venice, I got up pre-dawn, travelled the first vaporetto from Lido to Venice and took my FUJIFILM X-T3 and FUJIFILM 18mm.f2 LENS for a photowalk around the city, starting in San Marco and then getting lost in lots of back streets, before finding my way to Rialto Market.
Although I don't have a sports camera, I shot some of the future as FPV. I hope you like the video. I loved making this one.
If you would like a print of any photo that appears in one of my videos, please email keith@keithmasonphotography.com with a screenshot of the image you would like, and the size you would like (A4, 8 x 10, 6 x 9 = £30). These prints are signed but not numbered. Thanks for your support :)

Many thanks for your lovely comments. Sorry it’s taken a while to respond but I’ve been out of action for a couple of weeks

Great video and photos. Your camera and lens are quite compact. The last photo of the boat with reflections was amazing.

Thanks Robert. I’m glad you like it. For travel photography, I try to keep the gear small and light. That’s why I love the Fuji gear. The small messenger bag can hold body, two or three lenses and my filters, and a travel tripod sits on the top of the bag.

Loved the photos and how you used the 18mm. Will be there myself early September, so got me thinking about what lenses (love my 70-200), and I guess with the tight streets, going wide is better. Also, you give me greater incentive to get up early!!

Thanks for watching and I'm glad you like the images. Early September will be great - fewer tourists as kids return to school - and the sunrise time will be a little kinder on you than the mid-June 05.15 sunrise! The 70-200 will be great for some shots, but you might find you benefit from a wider lens in your bag.

Congrats on your first lightning photo! I really enjoyed the “perspective” in this video of seeing things through your eyes and then getting to see the image from the camera. Well done… Hope you enjoyed your trip with the family!

Thanks, Kevin. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ve been meaning to to a video like this with the quasi-FPV for a while but usually get distracted and forget to shoot the video bit, so I was pleased to complete the whole shoot with accompanying video explaining what I was doing.

great stuff - would you care to share your travel details to get there?

Sure! We flew into Marco Polo Venice airport and got the Allilaguna water bus to where we were staying on the Lido. For our three day we got a pass for the vaporetto system that allows unlimited water bus service around the city. The Alilaguna is around $30 return and the vaporetto ticket for around $65 for the three day pass.
