Roy, a very nice Fuji kit,, and some awesome photography as well. I'm also a Fujifilm X-System photographer, and also use one 3rd party lens, a Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 Fisheye, which is manual focus and quite sharp as well, although not in the same league as the stellar Fujinon optics! Thanks for sharing!
+Steve Solomon Thanks for watching! I've always wanted that 8mm fisheye. Looks like a great lens! I think overall the Samyang/Rokinon lenses are awesome for the price!
Nicely done, and informative choices. I haven't seen such nice IR photos since a spread in Life magazine. I wasn't sure that digital sensors allowed it. I liked the BG music, too... Sounded like a solo from a James Brown song. I read further down & see that it's from the YT library. I used that for my first videos & thought they stopped it. Glad it's still around.
Hey Roy, great video, I have almost the same kit, but i can't make my IR pictures like yours. I tried a lot of things, channel swap, hue/sat, etc.. Can you show me some tips? Thanks
+Christian Soto Anaya I've had similar issues myself. Through trial and error I've found that light conditions and the kind of foliage play a big part in getting that snowy/ cherry blossom look. Some trees just don't give you that. I've also had better luck in later afternoon light as opposed to high noon. I can't find it at the moment, but my friend Simon Bond has a great IR tutorial on his site. Just try Googling it.
Cool vid and photos. Why two interchangeable lens bodies? Since the three lenses can be used on one body, you'd save space with just the X-T1. Or X-T1 + compact fixed lens body (X100T or X70) for nights on the town. What benefit do you get having the X-E1 in your kit?
+L. A. Nolan Thanks for watching! I like to have two fully interchangeable bodies for backup purposes. Just in case one goes down, I can still keep shooting and use all the lenses in my kit. I used to have he X100S and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't a full backup solution.
interesting kit, kabayan! you went from 12mm up to 35mm? have you ever felt the need of something in between? my pure landscape kit lens is the 12mm and 18-55 but if I'm travelling then it's 2 from my prime lenses (12, 18, 27, 35) I have the XC 16-50 on its way, curious to see how it is optically as it would be great if I want to travel really light for landscape.
+Earl D Thank you! There have been a few times when I missed an in-between focal length. But most of the time, I really enjoy the difference. It makes you think more about composition. Not sure about the XC 16-50 as I've never tried it, but your lineup of primes are very sharp, so the bar has been set high. :)
I was thinking of getting the X-t2 but after hearing it has issues with worming and loosing sharpness. Im looking at different options. Looking at your shots with the X-E1 Im tempted to just get one of the older models. They seen just as capable. Would you recommend them over the X-t2? I don’t know if the x-t1 has the same software issue.
Older bodies are definitely just as capable in terms of image quality. The newer models offer faster AF and overall performance. They also offer more bells and whistles like better viewfinders, dual card slots, more megapixels, etc. It really depends on your needs and the type of photography you want to do. But even older bodies will give you excellent image quality. In terms of the worming, I've only really had it bother me very few times. I use Lightroom and I hear other RAW processors like Capture One or Iridient Developer may do a better job at avoiding the worming issue. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing your opinion with us . can you please make videos about XT2 on camera setting for landscape photography since there are not many information available in internet
Hey Roy I wanna know about the battery that u r using does it long last Coz when I buy canon duplicate battery form amazon it last only for 4 months . So whether I should buy genuine battery for Fuji or what. Great video + photo Roy
Hi Roy, where did you get the 43 mm Cokin P Series filter adapter ring for the Fuji 35 mm F2 lens? The smallest I found is 48 mm. Thanks for this great video!
Great images and a really nice informative video. Thank you.I am looking to get a mirroless myself and right now I am leaning towards the X-T1.Have you had any problems with yours?
Nice! I've also got that same UWA for my X-T2. I opted for the 23mm instead of the 35mm though. If I may ask, what soundtrack is playing in the background?
+Erle Czar Mantos Thanks for watching! The 23mm is a great lens and I've thought about getting one. Maybe in the future. The soundtrack is just something I got off the UA-cam Audio library. Lots of great and free tracks there.
+Ryan Lio Thank you for watching! I did IR with all 3 lenses mentioned, as seen in the images at the end of the video. The 12mm had the most distinct hotspot in the center of the frame, which became more distinct as I stopped down the aperture. It was pretty easy to correct in Lightroom with a radial brush though.
Thanks for sharing this. By the way, what camera did you use in shooting this video? I also have two Fujifilm cameras (X100T and X-T10 with the two variants of 35mm). I couldn't find a decent camera bag that has a good padding and quality. Any recommendation aside from this one on the video?
+Bob Calderon Thanks for watching! I used my iPhone 6S Plus to record this video. I'm inclined to recommend camera inserts instead of camera bags for versatility and flexibility. But prior to getting this bag, I was looking at the Tenba Switch series. The Peak Design Everyday Messenger looks interesting as well.
To me, that kit is still way too big! In terms of "stuff." But I always bring to much gear as well! Plus now I usually try to bring the drone along! Great vid! Supporting Pinoy photographers!
Hey bro, novice here. Is there really a need to bring 2 bodies? Can i couple the samyang 12mm to xt1? I love to travel and been doing mobile photography for a while. Want to go more serious and purch an xt1. I found your kit on a minimalist side and i was inspired to do the same 😊 salamat!
+Alfred Alvarez Thanks for watching! The second body isn't absolutely necessary, but I like to have it as a backup. Also, I feel like the Samyang and X-E1 are a very good match for slower landscape shooting. Yes, the 12mm works great with the X-T1. I sometimes mount the 12mm on the X-T1 when I need the tilt screen. I'm all about keeping gear as simple as possible, and I encourage people to do the same.
You have some really fascinating photos there.. I now feel getting an X-E1 just for that infrared shots :D Just followed you on Instagram, really great stuff
+John Kevin Cruz Thank you! I got my bag and insert here in Korea. Not sure if they have retailers in the Philippines, but Timbuk2 has an online store and there are plenty of camera inserts on Amazon and EBay. Thanks for watching!
+George Morris Thanks for watching! I do use the XT1 for landscapes, especially when I need the tilting screen. However, my first choice for manual lenses is the X-E1 because I feel they are a good match, not needing any AF speed improvements of the new bodies. The first generation sensor also has a very sharp raw look that I like.
Thanks for watching! I got my first Cokin filters over 10 years ago at a local camera shop in Manila. After that, I got most of them online. Try ebay or amazon.
+mvillar24 When going on long trips I carry a blower, and a soft microfiber cloth for lens cleaning. For sensor cleaning, I use this: amzn.to/2kqVufZ. Thanks for watching!
I am heading to Utah this summer and taking an X-T1 with 10-24 and 16-55 lenses in a PacSafe waist pack and an X70 along with it. Was planning to shoot RAW as always but I'm thinking about doing JPGS too that I can edit on the iPad using the film simulations. I love your reflection pieces here!!!
+Mark Rosengarten Thanks again! Sounds like a nice kit for your trip. I edit on mobile as well and in those cases I will either shoot raw+jpeg or I will process the selected raw file in-camera and send it over to my iPhone.
Nice informative video. What is the size of the messenger bag and the camera insert that you have shown in the video? When i click on the link, it takes to generic timbuktu messenger bag where i need to select the size. But I would like to get one that you have shown so i can carry the camera, lens and tripod all in 1 bag
+Karthika UJ Thanks for watching! The bag is a large. The insert is just a generic one I found that fit the dimensions of the bag. You can also get the Timbuk2 branded insert. The bag and insert are described on the blog post here: blog.roycruz.com/whats-in-my-bag-now-and-why-fujifilm-mirrorlesss-landscape-and-travel-photography-kit/.
Thanks +Roy Cruz for the fast reply. Thats what i thought since the tripod could also be accommodated. Thanks again. Got the question after watching the video. Can you please a link for the Cable release? Now looking at your Cokin P-series filter video, again its a great review...can you make one on 18-55mm Fujinon lens?

Hello. Yes, I would definitely recommend the X-E1 as a second body. Wi-fi is nice to have, but it's not a necessity. Your X-T10 already has wifi and if you really need to, you can put the other camera's SD card into the X-T10 and transfer the files (jpeg only). No flashy gears, a humble honest photographer who knows how to get the best of what he has. My role model. Thanks Roy!

Thanks Roy! I really enjoy your videos! They are so useful!

great job! speaking of the tripod, why did you choose the horusbennu over the backpacker?
Nicola D'Elia Thank you! I chose it mostly because it was more readily available in Korea (as Horusbennu is a Korean company).
Hi Roy, it's awesome. may I ask you about the last shot? It seems you used a filter, then what was it? The color and feeling was so great.
Thank you very much! That was taken with the Infrared (IR) filter.
You have some really fascinating photos there.. I now feel getting an X-E1 just for that infrared shots :D
Just followed you on Instagram, really great stuff
+Mustafa Yahya Thanks for watching and following me on Instagram as well! The X-E1 is still definitely a solid body and great value for money.
very nice setup !

Been watching a lot of your stuff since i've made the switch to fuji dude! Just knew that you're a kabayan also 😅 👌Quality content!
now i want a Fuji X T1 and a 12mm Samyang so bad :D Great Photos
+Mitsch Thanks! It's a great combo.
Very good video, and the photos at the end were stunning! I'm considering the Fuji system for lightweight work, and want to do a lot of infrared with it. I was considering the Samyang 12 f2 for this purpose, but I heard that it had a significant hotspot , however, I see your last shot was with this lens was an IR shot. It looked prefect! Would you say it works okay for infrared work? Thanks in advance.
Sorry, I seen someone else asked the question already to which you already answered. Thanks anyway.
+Stylum Mazzit It does have a hotspot and I just work around it. Open up the aperture to soften up the hotspot and correct in Lightroom using a radial filter. I used to avoid the Samyang for IR, but after I learned the workaround, I'd say it works okay. Thanks for watching!
Roy Cruz Thanks kindly.
have you taken the XT1 outside in the pouring rain and did it survive? Will it grow mold a few months from now? I'm not sure weather sealed means anything.
I actually have! It worked well. You should definitely give it a good wiping down afterwards though.
Good looks fam

How do you mount samyang lens to fujifilm XT-1, any adapter recommended? I am using XT-1 as my second camera beside Canon 6D
+Muhammad Ikhwan The Samyang can be purchased in Fujifilm X mount, so no adapter is necessary. But if you want to use Canon EF mount glass on a Fuji, you can use a Canon to Fuji X adapter like this one: www.ebay.com/itm/201337329770. Thanks for watching!

Hello. Yes, I would definitely recommend the X-E1 as a second body. Wi-fi is nice to have, but it's not a necessity. Your X-T10 already has wifi and if you really need to, you can put the other camera's SD card into the X-T10 and transfer the files (jpeg only). I do that with my X-E1 and X-T1 when I want to post a photo quickly to the Internet. The main limitation would be AF performance on the X-E1. If you want faster AF, then you might want to look into an X-E2 or another newer generation body. But if you're okay with slower AF or if you are using manual lenses, then the X-E1 would do the job nicely.
i just bought the x-e1 second hand and i love it. thank you very much.
+Roy Cruz another question sir. do you get beep sound when you lock focus on xe1 with samyang 12mm?
+Ollan Staromana Glad you're enjoying your X-E1!
+Ollan Staromana No beep sound since it's a manual lens.
y ur gear is the dream

Roy, what Area Swiss L plate do you use?
Robb Quinn Just a generic one you can get off of eBay or Amazon. Something like this one: amzn.to/2utSllb
Mangrove?
Good job brader! :)
