Love the drone footage! Really shows what a graceful, ocean crossing machine she is! Drifter up, wind aft of the beam, flat seas, dream sailing on a tri!
Thanks again Jason - It's really interesting to see someone go through the tracking and decisions needed on an ocean crossing. I loved the footage of Spirit gliding through the water. I love the feel of getting my Chamberlin gliding along in the light stuff with the reacher or kite up - making almost windspeed at the correct angle and yet she feels as stable as a table - it's super champagne sailing. Something I would not trade for anything and it makes me feel I am getting something for free - your shots got me thinking of that again.
Just a brilliant safe planned journey in time & memories. Happy birthday Chloé 🎉 Congratulations folks! Thank you for sharing your beautiful travels across the Pacific with Spirit 🐬🐬🐬🙏👍🏻💫
Spirit barely ruffles the water as she moves. Beautiful. This drone video and soundtrack are perfect on a loop for a yoga or meditation session. Thanks for taking us along on the passage.
Ocean sailing DOES NOT get any better than this! 7 knots boat speed over smooth, tropical water...... you'd think you were in sheltered waters, not crossing the Coral Sea! Of course, a heavy displacement monohull would be wallowing, pitching, rolling & yawing in these conditions. The mainsail would be slatting and driving the crew mental...... and you'd barely be doing 3 knots. So, the iron mainsail would be fired up instead. But the Hammerhead is just casually stretching it's legs, gliding along effortlessly.
Hello, what beaut conditions, magical for sure. Are you doing your upgrades and repairs in Bundaberg,or else where?A couple of days relaxing before you jump into the jobs🙂
No firm plans yet just seeing where time takes us. Likely around Brisbane some place. Not much relaxing being done we sailed north after a few days in Bundy will upload some more video soon. Cheers 🙏
Many thanks 🙏 with regard to fishing we’ve got heaps of beans onboard and we prefer not to kill things if we can help it. Doesn’t mean we don’t catch and eat fish we’re just not big on it.
Happy Birthday 🎈🎂🎈 Each of your vids are wonderful. Careful with the land lubbers 😅 Magical conditions for a sail; nice wind and near placid. Do you carry a ski? 🙏
that fast that far south everything gets discombobulated. 🎉big glee & a belated birthday huggie to the the lovely chief bottle washer co-cap🎐may you enjoy scuba- biking and tide pool searching!
Man she’s a looker… just sliding along! Q - have you got twin backstays that are adjustable / able to be eased? Just wondering how you run a flat top main with them…
Thanks 🙏 No back stays on a multihull as the shrouds run aft. More performance based multis such as Spirit do use running back stays though which allow for the square too.
@@TrimaranSpiritXLTa. So we have twin headsails, straight up /vertical caps and lowers connected to chainplates on the cabin top, and then additional caps and runners going aft of the mast about 6ft and connected to the amas, plus a backstay to the transom. A rigger down in Grenada suggested we could ditch the backstay as we already had solid triangulation of the rig, but then the designer / builder would’ve fitted backstays for a reason…. Right? We’re swapping mains next year and I’d like to go for a flat top or big roach, so just thinking of ways around our current backstay setup.
Running 7 knots in seas that flat is a dream. Great stuff.
Yeah hard to beat this type of sailing and these conditions 🙏
It's like spending the day with you sailing. Thanks so much.

Thanks 🙏 Couldn't agree more!

Thanks 🙏 that feeling of being in harmony with the boat, ocean and the wind is simply magic!
Hats off to you, the crew and Chris White. Tanti auguri!
Grazie mille 🙏😁
I love the 'no wash no fuss' aspect of this boat gliding through the water
Thanks 🙏 She’s smooth and so efficient really shows when we sail light winds.

Beautiful to watch. Beautiful boat.
and just seven days from Fiji, wow.
Thank you for coming along for the ride and we’re stoked you enjoyed it 🙏
Wicked footage of spirit hooking along in such calm seas. Reminds me of Waterworld lol just need to paint it black
Yeah spectacular day sailing in hey couldn’t not have asked for a better welcome back into Aussie waters.
great drone shot's, going with the ocean instead of going through it!
Thanks 🙏 going with the flow is the only way. As Bruce said “be like water choose the path of least resistance” 😁
Beautiful shots! All the best to you and yours, buen viento y buena mar in 2025!
Thank you so much! Best wishes 🙏
Amazing, thanks.

It’s a pretty magical feeling to be ghosting along so smoothly! Many thanks 🙏

Great crossing mate!! Was wondering, how come we never see you guys fishing?

Just incredible footage,. If you don't mind me asking, what does 'hewie' mean, or hughie provides mean??
Hughie

noun: Huey
an imaginary being held to be responsible for the weather.
"more rain next week please, Hughie!"
Yep couldn’t have said it better thanks 🙏
Happy Birthday 🎈🎂🎈

🙏
Thanks 🙏 no ski we always find it a bit hard tiring around when we fall off 😁
Great videos of the passage. Is there a reason for the title being reversed for this last video?
that fast that far south everything gets discombobulated. 🎉big glee & a belated birthday huggie to the the lovely chief bottle washer co-cap🎐may you enjoy scuba- biking and tide pool searching!
Thanks and no reason just tired and got the title wrong 😁
You at Norfolk's?
No down in Brisbane now.
The same trip took me 20 days...... But I got stubborn and waited 8 days for wind in the middle of the trip. Zero motoring. Back in 97.
Nice sounds like a great passage and hey out there who’s counting isn’t it meant to be about the journey not the destination 😁

Is there a good reason for the bicycle on the sail?
Yes we believe the boat was once sponsored by a brewery in Colorado called Fat Tire.
Nice
ps, your title is the wrong way around
Thanks for the heads up was pretty tired 😁
Great sail mate and thanks for the regular updates. Whats plans when back in Oz...refit..?
Thanks 🙏 no firm plans but will need to do a few things come the NY. Just see where time takes us.
